@@timofeyradchenko2508 i dont find the leaving respectable. it should be a fair event that people compete in to win. once that is broken there should never be a situation where someone has to sacrifice their team and shoot themselves in the leg essentially. responsibility is 100% on the planner. because of that the decision to make them honor the integrity by staying in the game is the only valid decision. the fact that they have to be forced to do this is beyond wrong by ea/respawn.
yes self sacrifice could be seen as honorable but because of the context i cannot understand how people see it so. especially those that hate on hal for his decision. (you didnt but many others have)

@@jerppazz4525 hals decision was good until he shot at other players, not that it matters in the end but it could be seen as cheating in a professional match. Gens decision is 100% logical, its not even about the fact that his team could still do good, but rather about the fact that he could face consequences even tho someone else hacked him. If destroyer didn't write anything and made it clear that it wasn't hal or gen cheating some careers could have died that day. This makes the leaving respectable since gen has to worry about more than one a-tier professional game.

You must not have been paying attention. The security expert explicitly stated you can never get rid of hackers. It's a constant cat and mouse game that never ends. And there is no evidence that the security team at respawn/EA aren't doing a good job. All online games are rife with cheaters. And always will be, because as he said, there is no real all encompassing solutionm
@@SanosukeafoI think 90% of the people haven't actually watched the entire 1hour video. So I watched the POV of the Thanos guy or whatever his name is. I listened to it rather, the whole bit. He had some interesting insight, but what I think this brings a highlight to as that pro-play will probably need a HUGE overhaul. I mean, someone has this server by the balls, in one way or another. This is insane!
@northgambit It goes deeper than "pro play". All online games are extremely compromised and there is no solution, only way to reduce the amount of how compromised they are. At the moment it's just something that can't be addressed and I think a lot of people are wildly uninformed on the topic.
People seem to think that you can just auto detect and ban 99 - 100% of all hackers in a game at all times if the security team just "tries harder". But the reality is even the best games with insane levels of security and a well funded team can at best catch only a fraction of the cheaters. 10, 20, 30% of any online match you're in has people using wallhacks, aimbot, strike packs, AI tools, DMAs, chronus, etc etc etc.
The real take away is that online gaming is a full on joke now. And there's nothing anyone can currently do about it.
@@Sanosukeafooh I 100% agree with you. It does go deep than that. I just think, as you said, it's impossible to tackle it sufficiently.
Why I mentioned pro play is because that is the most blatant thing out there, and it NEEDS a fix that has nothing to do with the rest of the games. There is too much money and reputation on the line (think of advertisers leaving because a tournament is compromised).
I have no solutions, the only thing that comes to mind is to realize why people are hacking. This is a possibly really dumb take on the matter, but in my opinion it's because the younger generation isn't used to having to work hard to get something. They are happy to cheat their way to the top for a quick and fake dopamine hit, and do not want to work for success. But I dunno... I think this will never go away, especiall in F2P games, where you can just instantly create a new acc, once you get banned.
@northgambit Pro play cheating can't be dealt with for the same reasons regular cheating can't. It's a problem that has become nearly impossible to detect and so widespread. Many top end players have straight up cheating during tournaments lol.
It's a cancer. And like a cancer it has treatments but no truly effective cure.
I like how so much of this is just much needed therapy for Mande

Aside of that, as a lead engineer in IT, I assure you these guys are correct at assessing the technical side.
As for their take on cheaters vs devs and the role of communication in such situations - they are spot on. "The Cycle Frontier" did manage the community in terms of cheater situation and solution of that problem very well, players were full of hope. However the "fix" didn't last long and cheaters were back pretty soon. Then you can see an example of how not to communicate to your players, as they just gave false promises, started working on another game, increased the prices to the sky to milk that cow as much as they could and then let it die :) There are documentaries out there about the TCF rise and fall if u r interested.
Honestly this boost of popularity is what apex pro scene needed😂
So cool to hear it from a guy like pirate. But I deleted apex and am not downloading it until this gets addressed. I can't afford a new pc if anything were to happen to mine. Not risking it and this is the second time someone has just hacked the game
Better safe than sorry! I can not afford to get hacked which can be far more than the PCs I have. That said I should buy a bigger switch and segregate the network to minimize the damage in the case.

I think even he said there's no direct clue for RCE on client side, it's still has a possibilty that volun exists.
Think about that, it's high possibilty that the server side RCE exists (with the bot clip), and that's about 1~2 months ago, who the hell know in this time if he figured out a way to send corrupted packet from server thru compromised server then have that codes executing on client side to achieve a client side RCE (like grab the dedicated server binary then RE it on your side, find a hole that communcating with client and use it).
I think you still need to aware about this, but not just deny the possibility of it.

He does not even realize the hacker got into their computers using the hacking client they all have installed.
🤔Don't come to conclusions that you don't know. Did you scan the downloads they did in a while? Did you check the traffic at the time of the hack? Did you find evidence of compromise on their system image - Macrium or other? Did you check their FW hash since one of them apparently reinstalled the system prior to the event?
It is literally a guessing game if you don't have evidence!

I just watched @PirateSoftware video and @Mande all I gotta say is, despite you being an amazing player, your popularity comes from your personality not the game or skill you play that game with. Apex is a dumpster fire right now and that's no ones fault but the cheaters. That being said you shouldn't have to suffer through this unless YOU want to. TFT is a great example of community working with the devs, when a glitch happens or if something is over-tuned you can talk to the devs and they have admitted multiple times when they messed up. They talk with pro players often about balancing and issues and are open to suggestions.
I was a day 1 apex player and I actually quit the game due to the cheaters being insanely bad before they even had ranked. Cheaters in apex has been an issue since practically day 1.
It just sucks to think that if people just didn’t cheat that devs would have so much more time and resources to make the game better and more fun

i had to accept this perspective very early into apex (even before the tufi days) and not going to lie still struggle with this. EA is a huge company thats been making games since the 90s. their money, their focus is on the sports games like fifa and madden. This to me seems like it was an experiment to see if it would work or not. And it did for a while, but it never evolved from its beta form. Of course there are external factors like covid and the dynamic of a company. So after this hypothesis has been proven time and time again, i have learned to have no more expectations for this game. It is what it is. (granted this is coming from a casual pub stomper). But i can definitely see Mande's point of view. my only suggestion would to follow what people like itztimmy, aceu or even lulu are starting to do or have done. think about the future. everything is temporary. even youtube will have a day when its no longer a thing. whether its 2 days from now where something bigger and better happens, or 1000 years from now when some sort of cataclysmic event happens and humans are brought back to the stone age

48:00 That's why I began playing Apex. Because it was developed by the same people who made Modern Warfare 1&2 (2007-2009) and Titanfall, as Call of Duty has become complete trash over the years. Now, the old developers who created the best CODS, Titanfall, and Apex are all gone from Respawn. Maybe it's time to try out Battlefield when it comes out.

How does one single client get compromised? If the client was compromised from the server end, it would require an update be pushed out via steam for the client machines to update the newest patch from the server. How does the server side push out a patch to one single client machine? Not saying that this is impossible, but thats not how things work, the hacker would have had to do alot more work to just infect one machine from server side, almost impossible, im talking about months of coding, targeted updating does not exist in Steam. Just some context, 20 years in IT, 5 as an Infrastructure Admin, 15 in Cyber Security. The hacker likely got a dev kit with all coding in the game which would involve a corrupt dev, which would then allow the hacker to create undetectable cheat programs, could also be a compromised machine at apex, but extremely unlikely as the issue has been going on for quite some time and if you had a critical zero day vulnerability, you could make millions of dollars off of this, not waste it on apex.

I've been told on several pages that talking about the cheating problem isn't allowed, also kernel level anti-cheat is harder to defeat since it needs a separate machine to run the cheats undetected from my understanding, therefore that is why people don't run into this problem often in Valorant for example, also it's hard to tell because in Apex let's say you run into a cheater every game, that's a 20 minute match and in 60 players there is 1 cheater, in Valorant you can spend 20 minutes and you only played against 12 players assuming a match lasts 10 minutes...
Mande I would rather see you happy playing variety than annoyed playing apex. You are great as apex streamer and so as variety

Like Mande says, the community negative sentiment is due to a massive lack of communication from the developer. If respawn said we need the community to help and rally around us, there are millions of players that would sacrifice their time and effort to save the game they love.

Crazy idea here, but you could start considering trying out other FPSs like The Finals, Mande. Let's all give it a chance to a dev studio who actually talks to his community and is willing to give its community the updates they need. At the end we are the ones who decides what games are in the top.
I love Apex (season 0 player here) but damn we can all agree this is not the game we started playing so many years ago, now it just feels heartless, a pot of gold for a big corp.
