Great game, though they should really add some lore about how you're a disembodied spirit controlling a severely drunken corpse. As a former fencer, it really annoys me how doing very basic things requires an immense amount of skill at this game. Like, have you ever seen people swing two feet to the side of enemy IRL? That's like trying to pour yourself a cup of tea and missing by a foot
It's because a small movement of the mouse causes your character's aim to deviate by a lot on the small screen, depending on your mouse settings, so a lot more precision is required than IRL, where 1 foot = 1 foot. Make sure pointer acceleration is turned off in your mouse settings (since that setting makes it damn near impossible to move the cursor accurately), and try adjusting the pointer speed until it's something you're comfortable with.
The short iron bar is honestly a OP starter weapon, it hits hard, is easy to maneveur, fairly light. About the only problem is that it has a pathetically weak overhead, but other than that almost every fighter i've made climbed up with the iron bar
Great job. AI needs to learn. In a real tournament later opponents would watch your strategy and be ready and learn.Short of input reading not sure how that would be done and how hard that would make the game though. For a game like this though it makes sense.
Does ANYONE out there have any insight into how they are actually accomplishing such nice looking physics based movements? I've heard mention of procedural animations and/or motorized joints that follow predefined animations, but haven't ever found anything solid. Any idea any1?
@@rolandosanchez2019 hoooooly fuck that was a long time ago. That felt like it was only a few months ago. Damn... But yeah, the answer is, don't reinvent the wheel. If you're using Unity, just buy a solution someones already made. I ended up using PuppetMaster and it's pretty good, but there is a slight learning curve when you start using it. And then you'll have to optimize accordingly while using it because it can end up having an expensive runtime.
Moving your mouse side to side just changes the direction you are facing. That's not how you swing hard. Just hold your mouse cursor on target, and press and hold lmb. That's it. When you rapidly sweep the mouse side to side you are actually making things worse by throwing your character off balance. You add to the force of the swing with, small, and well timed WASD movements that work with the swing. Although the biggest mistake new players make is rapid and semi random WASD presses which actually end up weakening your swing because the momentum shifts they cause work against the swinging motion. I encourage new players to start with not enough movement. And slowly build up to learn what is enough. When you start at the other end of the spectrum it is harder to tone it down to the sweet spot.
@@GamelessOne 100% wrong. Dev has explained it quite clearly over the years. It is walking forward that can add momentum to your swing. When you sweep the mouse you are twisting your body to face a different direction which erases the anchor point that the swinging motion of your arms requires to generate greater force.
The swing itself is executed by pressing and holding the Mouse Button, whipping your mouse is only necessary to make it stronger by swinging your torso. This has to be timed however for maximum effect so the turning coincides with the swing.
Man... fucking hate this game sometimes. You have mastered it, I don't get how you do it. Half the time when I overhead swing my character sits there like a dumbass doing nothing. When I do get it consistent the opponent blocks every hit. What is the deeeeal.

Dismemberment would only make sense on unarmored targets, so it's not really worth the effort to add.
