  • While chasing the light I ventured over to the Cumbrian coast just south of Silloth on the Solway to photograph the boardwalk through the sand dunes. Just as I arrived it clouded over, but a brief reprieve as the sun appeared in a gap in the clouds on the horizon. Because of the subject I used f22 aperture to great results. Don’t be afraid of f22 it will still give you acceptable results if you have no other choice.

Wonderful, a good explanation and not a dreaded bokeh in sight.

Wow, I didn't know they let you out of the Lake District 😂 Looked like a nice day by the coast. Always that pesky bank of cloud on the horizon, happens here too. I don't care how many times I see it, I am always amazed at how far the tide moves out there. F22 or not, that was a lovely pathway shot and the drone footage along the ridge was wonderful as always. Really enjoyed it Andrew! Have a great weekend over there!

Thanks Paul for the great comment. I'm avoiding the Lake District for a while until the tourists have thinned out. The tide can be a real problem over here, you can get cut of if you go too far out at the wrong time. I'm scared of it 😮 You have a good weekend too and you get some Good light for your photography 😊

Great photos as usual Andrew. Does F22 show up sensor dust much? I haven't cleaned the sensor on my Mark ii yet. I know it has the built in cleaning aid, but I guess there will come a time when I will have to brave it. Loved the drone footage as well. It gives such a different perspective of the areas you visit. Looking forward to seeing your Autumnal photos when the trees start to change colour. 😁

F22 gives you loads of dust spots, most of them are hidden in the grass. I use a Rocket Air Blower Duster to get rid of most of the dust and then clean the sensor only if all else fails. If you use live view slot then the heat can weld pollen on to the sensor. The local Lime trees have a tint of autumn already. I'll have to do some scouting walks soon. 😀

@@andrewfindlayphotowait what do you mean live view can weld pollen to my sensor?! 😳 I seriously didn't know that

@@jasminecarriker7047 Pollen is incredibly sticky and as the sensor is used in live view mode it heats up the low pass filter in front of it which makes the pollen adhere even more and un blow off able. Also hard to wipe off.
