This retake is so smooth and amazingly slick. These tracks blend together so well. Ren almost sounds more Sting than Gordon Sumner and the soulful delivery adds to the reminiscent vibe of Back On 74. I love cheekiness of Ren’s rap. The way Ren pokes fun at Caddy Daddies and the desperate wanting to show wealth to impress is neat. his smirk when he delivers the Turn Tina line is cute. However, this song is made for me by the amazing harmonies. Those women Sylvia and Scarlett are so on point and it’s class timing.

I think you were trying to think of “imposter syndrome”. ;)
But I’d look at those lyrics more from the angle of the sad, sick boi who was literally trapped in his room while all his mates were going on and living their lives.
Even though that was years ago, I think every time I’ve seen him talk about it in an interview or something he has had to hold back the tears…so it obviously remains a formative part of his life.
BUT ANYWAY, THIS SONG!!!
When Ren posted the pics of him with these ladies I figured we’d get some kind of smooth, jazzy Motown, because that just the vibe I got from the whole aesthetic going on there.
But I didn’t, and couldn’t have, imagined THIS! I think every Ren fan 100% feels you when you just have to cover your face and giggle in giddy disbelief, because this boi’s genius HAS NO OFF SWITCH.
He’s so great at making songs that don’t fit the mold, if it’s a radio pop hit sound, the songs about something deep and dark 🤣

I think the phrase you were looking for is 'imposter syndrome'. Google (of course the truth of all - huge sarcasm), says "the condition of feeling anxious and not experiencing success internally, despite being high-performing in external, objective ways. This condition often results in people feeling like "a fraud" or "a phony" and doubting their abilities." It's different than being humble. Ren has been quite open with feeling like an introvert and anxious, but watching him perform and listening to his music, you'd never expect this. He can be quite cheeky. :). i imagine a lot of people feel this way from the overtly successful to those who make it through the day despite odds that others couldn't imagine.
When I hung out with him, he was very reserved unless he was talking about music, and he’d go from being completely silent to excited like a kid talking about his favorite super hero.
