  • Mieke's research is all about understanding how young people deal with anxiety and depression using social media. She's looking into who goes online for help, why they do it, and what impact it has, especially on platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels.
In her study, Mieke also explains how you can check if the mental health info online is reliable. You can do this by looking for verification marks next to usernames and making sure the people giving advice are actual experts, not just influencers.
Meet Mieke Oldeman, a passionate PhD candidate at the University of Amsterdam's Research Institute of Child Development and Education. She's diving into the world of adolescent mental health in today's digital landscape.
