Alistair Begg has been in pastoral ministry since 1975. Following graduation from The London School of Theology, he served eight years in Scotland at both Charlotte Chapel in Edinburgh and Hamilton Baptist Church. In 1983, he became the senior pastor at Parkside Church near Cleveland, Ohio. He has written several books and is heard daily and weekly on the radio program, Truth For Life. The teaching on Truth For Life stems from the week-by-week Bible teaching at Parkside Church.

At 39.5 yrs old, THIS is the most simply said & eye opening "AHA!!" moment that i believe ive ever gotten from any sermon!! Every since i was a very very small child, when thinking about death, heaven, & faith, I've ALWAYS thought and worried about what I've done wrong, how bad/ different i was, how much hurt was in my life, how disappointed/ disgusted God might be of me, & how much i needed to change if i was gonna be good enough to get into heaven. A lot of that came from My alcoholic, drug addicted, & abusive dad (an ordained minister) use to say things like "God can't STAND a liar. It disgusts him" & "God despises a busy body". It wasnt until i was an adult when.... I was in a crisis, petrified, and needing protection and guidance from something i had done/ caused... And i was crying & telling someone that i was really scared God was going to "get me", and someone said to me, "i think someone mustve spoke more of a brimstone and fire God that they MISTOOK our God for, rather than explaining to you that our God is an unconditionally loving God. He purposefully made you & he would NEVER BE ashamed of or disgusted at you, Ever. He isnt there to punish you when you do something wrong. He's there to pick you back up, dust you off, & forgive you. He wants you to run TO him, not FROM HIM. He wants to keep you safe and protect you like only a father could. He is there for YOU, he WANTS TO listen to you, comfort you, and repair what you have destroyed. He's waiting WITH WIDE OPEN ARMS to forgive you, heal you, and make you whole again".
And now that ive gotten to hear this sermon, it's all becoming full circle. Much more than what I've ever done wrong, what REALLY matters MOST is what "HE" has "ALREADY DONE".

Preaching of the cross everyday. The cross that crucified Christ is the same cross where we must crucify our flesh. Deny ourselves and Take up our cross to follow Christ we must die so He can live through me. Wonderful sermon to remind us of this critical truth.

1john4six it seems that your faith is in a translation of the word of God. His sheep know His voice and they follow Him, they won’t follow the voice of the hired hand, thief or robber. There’s one Door, one Way, one Shepherd, one Gate, one Light, one Bread, one Son of Man and Son of God, not just one translation. Focus on the Word, not the words.

I talked to a Jewish woman that a Jewish man on the middle cross can make her and me children of God, his name is Jesus.
Ive listened to the sermon twice now. I just keep going back to hear it again. So beautifully presented, so great a message ive not until now heard this way. Then i discover this film adaptation of the sermon. Even so much better with the visual. But the message is so, so perfect. I will need to review it again and again until it is firm in my brain so i too can share this message, Of the Cross. Amen

Is there a place to listen without the music.
It won't be because of my good works. Even the best of them are ashes in my hands, can only ever be ashes in my hands. It is only because of what Jesus - the Word incarnate - did, taking my sin upon himself and dying on the cross under its weight in place of me, to bring me by adoption into relationship with God as my father that I have not just hope, but certainty that God will count me among his sheep on the last day. Not because I am worthy, but because he alone is worthy, and his resurrection proves the payment is sufficient. Forgive me Father, for I am a sinner.

Despite our names, that's our day and age. As a sub minor A (meaning there are wealthier, more enriched and enabled youth than I am at age 49), the parents of owe into the less enriched to give along and down in the estate sizes.
I can't be an A in an SSI cage. The SSA needs an audit. So do IRS agents and tax companies large and small. If they're small begging for warm clothes for the winter (yes, my family begs warm winter clothes and heat and food to stay put), then we have nothing but this to give.
A credit union mustn't take or ask of someone on an SSI budget. If so, give us the materials you collected so we can pay our debtors.
You're in and on our shares as Americans born and raised.
We need our trucks, cabs, cars, gas cards, bottled waters, lower electricity, return Bill.
We need more than a mans name to cover us. Thanks

A little advice...don't put a clip of people drinking and smoking in a video that is trying to reach lost souls by portraying the true and proper message of the cross...sends people a mixed message...like the old man made religious slogan of "Christians shouldn't smoke or drink"...as a Christian myself ive talked to many people about Christ and through those conversations honestly their sick and tired of hearing how they shouldn't drink or smoke either...it shouts hypocrisy from us to them...because I'm sure they know many Christians who are far worse off than they are and I'll be the first to admit I am...so let's get it straight...for the religious man lost in his supposed goodness and for the sinner lost in his sin...they both need the cross...we all need the cross...saved or unsaved...lost or found...Luke 18...the cross answers both dilemmas.
Great content from Begg, but quite frankly the emotive background music, along with the very poor/cheesy acting, was distracting, unnecessary and to a degree diminished the impact of his delivery.

Excellent message overall except the stupid and demonic story about the thief on the cross. Allistair like so many preachers havee made the mistake of cracking jokes in the midst of being connected to the Spirit. When the believer makes this mistake they will immediately disconnect from the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and then drift off into the flesh talking nonsense. Sigh... When will preachers notice this trap satan has set for them?
It may seem that way, but the purpose is to show the legalistic works base religious that denies that story of the Bible.
There are people that are preaching our own works in order to get into heaven. And he is showing that the theif did no works to get in.
Begg and Apologia both teach false gospels. The gospel means “good news”. The gospel is the proclamation of who Jesus is and what He did for His elect only. The entire Bible (Old testament and New Testament) foreshadows and proclaims who Jesus is and what He did for His elect only (John 5:39, Luke 24:44).
Jesus is the Son of God (John 3:16), fully God and fully man (John 1:1 & 1:14) and second person in the Trinity (Matthew 3:16-17).
The gospel is God’s testimony concerning Jesus as revealed in the Holy Scriptures by the Holy Spirit which proclaims how Jesus the Christ (John 1:41, Matthew 16:16) was born of a virgin (Matthew 1:23) and born under the law to redeem His elect who were under the law and save His elect from their sins (Matthew 1:21, Galatians 4:4).
God’s elect /sheep are the people past, present and future from every tribe, tongue and nation God actively chose to redeem/ justify/save based on Christ. God chose in Christ before the foundation of the world was laid according to the good pleasure of His will for His glory (Revelations 5:9, Ephesians 1:4-5). God actively created and chose a people from every tribe, tongue and nation before they were born for salvation whom God has always loved because of Christ and only Christ (Romans 8). God’s elect are vessels of mercy prepared beforehand for glory to make known the riches of His glory (Romans 9). God’s elect/sheep are God’s chosen vessels of mercy that are Jews and Gentiles because of Christ. (John 10, Romans 9:23-26, Hosea 2:23)
God is Holy (Isaiah 6:3). God’s law is holy and good (Romans 7:12). The law of God demands perfection in word, thought, and deed at all times (James 2:10). The law was given through Moses (John 1:17). The law condemned all mankind and brought knowledge of sin (Romans 3:19-20). All people are under sin and none are righteous (Romans 3:9-18). Sin entered the world through Adam and death through sin and death spread to all mankind because all sinned. (Romans 5:12-13).
Jesus Christ is the Passover lamb without blemish (1 Peter 1:19) for His elect by God’s sovereign grace (1 Corinthians 5:7). Just as the Israelites were released from Egypt after the death of the firstborn (Exodus 11-13) - Jesus Christ the firstborn of all creation (Colossians 1:15) justified all His elect at the cross from the wrath of God(Romans 5:9-11). Jesus willingly went to the cross (Philippians 2:8) and offered one sacrifice for all time for His elect He sanctified (Hebrews 10:11-14) as their representative and High priest. Jesus was crucified for the elect’s sin and raised for their justification (Romans 4:25). It pleased God the Father to crush His only begotten Son( Isaiah 53:10) and God the Father accepted Jesus’ perfect sacrifice on behalf of His sheep( Acts 2:23) . Jesus paid His elect’s sin debt and there is now no condemnation for those who are married to Christ (Romans 7-8).
By Christ’s knowledge He justified all His elect (Isaiah 53:11) and finished His mission (John 19:30). All of God’s sheep will believe God’s testimony concerning Christ because Jesus justified them by His perfect sacrifice on the cross. Not one sheep Jesus died for will perish. Jesus is the good shepherd. Faith(believing God’s testimony concerning Jesus) is the fruit of what Jesus accomplished for His sheep. God’s sheep are righteous before God by the imputed righteousness of Christ provided at the cross as prophesied in Psalm 32 and fulfilled in John 19. All Jesus died for are regenerated at God’s appointed time to believe God’s testimony concerning Christ on who Christ is and what He did at the cross( Acts 13:48).
