thats the best snare i've ever seen
Thank you 😊
Huh
Whut?
Its electric.. thats not something to brag about
@@AdamHalvo My drums samples suck, that sounds so cool
Honestly - for a split second, I though I was playing it wrong - when I was vindicated - I was relieved.
same bro
I was so scared that I was crazy lol. Good to know we were right
I love her attitude. It’s so pleasantly old school British.
That's makes a lot of sense: playing the two lowest toms along with the bass kicks gives it so much more "umph" to the punch, and flams are so underrated. I love incorporating them into my fills!
Even the classic, "flam, kick, flam, kick" on 3 is so satisfying!
Ive been playing for 30 years and I learn stuff from her.
People of any experience level can benefit from someone specializing in teaching beginners like she does.
Good job,really enjoying ur content!
The live version. There are no drums on the album version.
well i mean you gon go stomp your feet and clap?
@@Cr3reeper Well that's what the entire stadium is doing
Obviously.
I bought my 13 year old son an Alesis nitro mesh set for his birthday but after watching your videos I am inspired to learn them myself. Bravo 👏 cheers
Such a sassy lass with mad sense of humour. Love it 😊
I could listen to her talk all day!
Your teaching manner is great. Helps a lot ❤
Pretty sure he flams the Tom's as well ...just to make it sound bigger but your right.. on
You can't flam multiple drums because a flam requires both hands on one drum. So... You got four hands? 😅
@@PatrickDAllen1 Do you not see how you can flam both toms? There is an overwhelmingly obvious way that is so clear I'm not even going to say it because I know for a fact you just posted this to be an idiot. You know how to flam the toms.
I'm going with that.
YAY, I’ve been doing it right all these years😊👍
That makes all the difference. You've done a great service to rock n roll.
Thank you sweetheart😊❤
Great of you to point it out and explain "flam" but we have the option/obligation to check out the live versions... live in Montreal for example. We see it well. There is no reason to play it wrong anymore unless it's the way we want to do it!... or if no original resources are available... or there is no one like you to help. Cheers!!!
You're AWESOME!! Thank You for Tremendous Drumming AND Instructing!! Phenomenal!!!!
Thats cool🥁🔥🥁
Best teacher ever!
You are a genius!!
It was so funny hearing you explain what a flam is with the expectation that most drummers don’t know what one is, haha! Most probably don’t. The reason it’s so funny to me is because I started as a concert percussionist whose strength was their rudiments (and still practice/perform in that field), and have practiced flams to death!
A knuckle-dragging bass player thanks you.
one of the best drum lessons I ever saw. unironically. and I saw A LOT of drum lessons haha
Simple but wow such an iconic beat
Wasn’t the recording done with foot stomps on loose boards and then claps in a church? That’s what happened in the movie anyway. Agreed that if you want to do it on drums, that’s the way.
I was going to say something similar, how can you play a part wrong if it doesn't exist for that instrument?
Don't trust in the movie. Freddie didn't even had his moustache at the time.
@@nategarduno9468 I presume they played it live too so that would require a way of playing it on drums
@@JayPhonomanceralthough at the beginning of the shows on the News of the World tour, they played it with a recording of the studio percussion and Freddie singing live and Brian playing live.
@@JayPhonomancer no. They wheeled a church onstage with boards and all. These guys are authentic musicians. 😏
I love your channel and your sense of humor. Keep up the good work 👍🥁
How can anyone who's seen or heard footage of Roger playing that live not know this?
And NO ONE plays it without the snare.
Is this a real question?
The video is about the people she hears playing it wrong. Whether or not they have seen or heard Queen live at any point in their lives is not relevant to the video. She doesnt mention it once so where is your question coming from?
Then to actually answer it:
While no statistics exist for who has heard or seen Roger play this live and not know how to play it, I would feel confident in asserting that there will be some people out there that are in this boat.
"How?" you ask. Its possible someone could have witnessed this live before they began playing drums and were "drum illiterate".
Its possible someone could have seen this live in an intoxicated state and have poor memory of the finer details. Likewise some drummers may simply have been there just to have a good time and not pay attention to such things.
Its possible that some people saw it live and knew it but then had a brain injury or slowly forgot over time.
Some drummers may not even be skilled enough to be able to play it to begin with.
There are countless more scenarios that can answer your question for how it is possible that a person could see or hear this and yet still not know how to play it.
But again it is a strange question to ask as it is unrelated to this video and there are no statistics on the subject. So it is technically possible that 100% of all drummers who have heard or seen Roger play this live, do actually know this.
I wouldn't worry about such hypothetical scenarios like "How can anyone who's seen or heard footage of Roger playing that live not know this?" if I were you as there is no way to know if such a person even exists, unless of course you meet them, and then you can ask them yourself.
Hope that answered your question.
@NowhereMan7 I got bored just seeing how many paragraphs are in your reply so I really don't care what you said in it. Thanks for all the compliments though... _I think_
@@eamonahern7495
I dont know you so there are no compliments sorry. No insults either. You asked a bizarre question that noone on earth can know the answer to. I only gave the shortest answer I could. I could have gone on and one with many more examples of "How can anyone who's seen or heard footage of Roger playing that live not know this?", but I didn't. All the best
I mean, i kinda saw Houston 77... and he wasn't really playing like that, he was more like hitting the toms and then the snare, but it's not that easy to see what he was playing...
Spot on
Brilliant
Mad.... I've never played drums in my life and yet could have worked that out just by listening.
Love your videos !
This is super weird comment, but you have all the same mannerisms and similar humour to my a-level history teacher from 20 years ago. I dont pmay drums, but she was amazing and i loved her lessons so I love watching your videos.
Well that's a dope hairstyle change up. I wonder if I can pull that off
You’re videos are awesome! Thanks for them!
Thank you for watching! 😄
Ooh you added to it for me. I had the flam
Todays a great day..thanku
Great drummer! Love your way to explain it! For sure you are a great teacher! Thanks a lot for sharing! Love it! Cheers DimiZ
Sounds exceptional 🎉

Wow, great video
How can anyone not love her...shes brilliant. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Disabled and brought back together.. yeah, my day just got better.. thanks
You rock!! I reaaaaally love your energy. Man I really wish you as my teacher for drums. Any good advice how to start learning by myself other than watching your shorts? Keep on rocki '!!
i made an e-kit that uses a grid of lasers that instantly know where you are hitttng on the drumhead. No delay or lag.. Already finished the coding for the app to run parallel with the audio interface and it runs and sounds better than any kit ive heard or played. When I finish it, I'll contact ya and send it to you to test if you would like to.
Cheers
Good to know.
Roger does a sort of triplet thing on the toms and bass drum too,
Brilliant videos. Brilliant.
Hell yeah, sounds great! But also in the recording it was foot stomps and claps so I suppose there’s no RIGHT way of playing we will rock you on the drums 🤣
Do the Beatles "come together" I've seen and heard a lot of covers where the drummer is leading with the rack Tom instead of the floor Tom.
The original doesn't have drums on it until after the guitar starts in.. it is actually foot stomps and hand clap.. Roger only played it on drums live to help keep the crowd in time..
Can you play the kick while doing the flam?
Finally!! Someone making justice to the original performance of Roger Taylor 😍
We love you
Emma, you’re a diamond. 👍😂
You are awesome and thanks so much for the new drummers toolkit
Thank you for downloading my eBook! I'm glad you've found it helpful :)
@love_to_learn_drums hi,sorry to piggyback on his comment but I have a big analog drum book collection, is yours available as an actual paper book?
You rock me
Brilliant!!
I figured 😊
Play believer in the drum
A great day, indeed:)
Now I understand what a flam is, thanks!!!
Even though everything sounds great on electric drums. I still appreciate your videos
Thank you 😊
I'm suscribed and I love it! Also love your videos and you.😍
This is a much needed PSA
All good but sounds even Petter if you replace flam whit double stop/flam flat (drummers opinion)
Making it easier do a left hand flam since your left is higher anyway and your right is lower
I wonder if you can play drums reading a partitur or you just hit the drums
I don’t have drums nor am I learning. But I’m still watching 😂
I believe Roger played flams on his floor toms as well.
personally as a guitarist with 22 years experience trying to learn drums i have been finding these things very useful but this has to be one of the easiest beats on drums though and enter sandman are kinda in the same category tbvh both using toms in the intros and through out the song
Rogerr Taylor of Queen also flams the toms not just the snare
you are awesome! keep it up please!
Flamulous!
I learned like 3 diff thangs good advice lol
i learned to play drums by hearing,no fancy expressions ..just play the drums how you feel it ,eventually you will be better at it,dont worry about the rest
i am in love with flams ❤
As am I.
I think you'd need a lot of people, boots, hands and a wooden floor. But yes, that's how Roger does it when playing live. I never understood why he didn't use a syndrum for it.
I've played it like this everytime😂
Lovely❤
Wow 👏👏👏
If you
Don’t have a giant flight if stairs you REALLY getting it wrong lol
It is the first song I have learned
Triplets and flams is how you play it like Roger
Saludos desde Argentina guapa 😘
Please do me a favor by making a video on African Makossa, highlife and Ekombi
Today is not a good day. I’m on the side of the road with a flat, in rental car without a spare.
But hey, I know how to play we will rock you now!
Ye that’s just instinct, always played it right apparently and I can’t work out how u could hear it any other way
Last week at a community concert I witnessed someone else in the audience with their leg drums and claps around the wrong way and I will never forget.
What Roland drum sound kit is that? I have a Roland
You are so awesome! Love your videos and humor! You remind me of Jazz Emu! You guys should do a song together! :)
Every kit should have dual-kick capability, and you should be able to hold two sticks in each hand. So that doubles the quasi-multitrack effect. :-)
Didn't realise drummers and guitarists had something in common 😂
you are so amasing, thank you) i dont have teacher so it is really hard to understand what information is true... i guess only expirience ill help you to feel and see the truth
So you're saying if we play it exactly like Roger Taylor plays it, we're doing it RIGHT?
Yes. That's what she's saying. Good job.
what if i'm a jazz drummer and only have one tom?
You gotta get the flams in there too, ok I should have waited. There in there.
if you have an e-kit, why not program the toms and snare to stomps and claps? would be more better.
Check out "That Song" by Amaranthe. You'll get some new ideas for variation.
That is wrong also! It is actually a close together quad with bass drum first, then flam tom, tom, bass. Then over to the snare flam! Sorry to call you out, seriously. It's all a dragging sound on the Toms.
true she got it wrong 😂
You are cool lady
