  • HOW TO FIT SOUND IN A HORNBY TERRIER
When I saw the terriers for the very first time I immediately wanted one on this layout, and having them sound fitted was the ‘icing on the cake’. I did think it wasn’t possibly on the advice of others, but I hope to have proved it certainly is possible to sound fit these dinky lil locos.
    In this video I:
    - I explain the type of decoder Im using.
    - I demonstrate how to remove the body.
    - I explain why Ive replaced the motor mount and briefly how this was done.
    - I show the removing the dcc socket and explain why.
    - I demonstrate the modification to the decoder.
    - Show how I trim back the wires and fit to the loco.
    - Demonstrate / explain how I refitted the body along with bits I discovered.
    - Showcase the sounds on the decoder and see it running.

Beautiful little locos. Well done with that install John. I'm afraid I'd be all fingers and thumbs, and make a right mess!

Superb! Really nice to see one of these sound fitted. Not sure if I'm brave enough to do it to one of my own yet but you've certainly got me thinking. Great video! 👍

Thank you, very kind of you to say. I do understand that, after hearing it wasn’t possible it got me thinking. Then I saw the fitting guide on YOUCHOOS website. That’s what did it for me

G/J John. I haven't gone to sound yet. Probably need to build the layout first. Lol But I have a few of these terriers and it is very tempting. That will be for future me to decide.

Ansolutely Gordon, I do love the sound. Still got the other to do. May look at the pecketts at some point who knows. Good luck with layout build. Ive recently extended my N gauge layout so back to basics

Hi Thankyou. Thanks for your question but never had 37 nor one with TTS sound, so not sure. The decoders vary so much from loco to loco. sorry. Maybe ask Susannah, Allan at Dragon Junction or Peter Dixon may know. Possibly Jason at Barnabas Jcn

Hi John, thanks for sharing the video! Nice work! I have 3 of the latest Hornby Terriers to fit sound to and having your video will help immensely.
Can I ask if you would consider making me 3 of the 3D printed motor body clamps that you’ve made? Obviously I’m happy to pay for them. The would make life so much easier?
Thanks, look forward to hearing from you.

Hi, thank you, I used the idea from the Youchoos website. May I suggest have a look. Its not a difficult install, but you can snip a bit off the existing motor mount. I generally don’t print for sale. I have done people few favours but my time is very short atm. Let me know as and when you got the decoders and Ill see what I can do.
