Although I'm starting to get my head around this area of the rules Lee, I actually thought that both players could have any number of points that they wanted, as long as firstly, they agreed on a figure and secondly both warbands only consisted of between 3 and 15 models, or am I possibly getting confused with open play and narrative play. I've watched all of your getting started and campaign videos, that I'm probably getting confused now and need to maybe start from the beginning again and re-educate myself. I'm guessing I'm getting open play and narrative play confused with one another and the rules are different for both.
With the Open Play section of the Core Rules, players can agree a number on a total points limit for each team. But this game play style in that section of the book is designed for multi players with potentially more than two warbands. So the points for each ‘team’ of players are divided up between the players’ warbands as they see fit. The Core Rules on p.36 do state that the fighters in a players warband cannot exceed 1000. But with regular casual play with two players, I don’t think there is any reason why you couldn’t agree on a set point limit. Increasing the points value might be good for warbands like the Ogres and maybe Ironjawz where the fighters have high points, but with Skaven or Legions of Nagash, you’d field a load of minis and the rounds would be long. IDK, I like having the limit and that restriction demands some creativity with rosters, but would be fun to explore games with different point limits.
REINFORCEMENTS Players can choose to spend any of their glory points before picking their warband for a campaign battle if their warband has less dominated territory than their opponent. Page-66 Core Book.
