Your channel has been my absolute inspiration. I do not have most of the tools you have, but I do my best.
I am literally using an empty syrup bottle with a straw inserted in the top as a blower. It’s not nearly as refined but it will do for now. Where there’s a will, there’s a way lol.
Yet another beautiful flower creation, thank you 😊

I have learned something after trying to make 10000001 petals: if I let the iso alc. set there a second, then tilt it in the direction I THINK it's going to go, which it sometimes goes there and sometimes a little left or right, then blow the leaf out when it's tilted, I can do MUCH better. Just my little trial and error moment....

Jeannette you made this look so easy! I just recently started trying a little water color painting, acrylic painting, and sketching (and I'm 60). I followed exactly and it didn’t work. What do you do as prep, either to the inks, or to the photo paper beforehand? My inks just make dots on the paper with no flow. I use the glossy side of the Kirkland photo paper. Do you dilute the inks before using. Do you prep the paper?

    • @VivoVintageDesigns
      @VivoVintageDesigns  Před 8 měsíci

You should be using the matte side of the photo paper, not the glossy side. Also be sure to use 91 - 99% isopropyl alcohol. Give that try and let me know how it goes.

Hi Lisa. You can use canvas as long as you seal it first. I like Kilz2, which is a water-based primer. You can use any hair dryer as long as it has a low setting, but I find most are too strong. You will have to use it at a good distance to simply dry the ink without blowing it around.

When using a tile instead of paper my ink seems to run quickly before I can get it dry. Is there a trick to getting it dry quicker so it giant run so much?

Try using less ink and alcohol. I find that the inks flow more so than on photo paper and being that the surface is so much smaller, using less product may help you.

Such a lovely flower! I’d like to know what you’re doing your painting on? It looks like a piece of kitchen paper, but wouldn’t the ink go through & stain your table underneath?

Thank you. Yes it's a paper towel and the ink will go through it, but is really there just to absorb the excess ink. What you don't see is that I have contact paper adhered to the desk I'm working on so that the ink will not ruin the surface. I can easily wipe the ink off of the low tack contact paper. I learned that little trick the hard way

Hi, Jeanette, this is Dolores A-Gain, I purchased a Epoxy Resin dye kit of assorted colors from Amazon featured as Alcohol Ink. Having a hard time blowing into shapes I want and so googled to see if there is a difference between that an regular alcohol in. I've used on glass and bathroom tile having a high gloss finish, used a ranger blower, a straw, air can and hair blower on low. The epoxy resin separates and runs as soon as it hits the surface. Can you recommend a medium I can use because I really don't want to discard this package.

I've never used resin dye. I use Ranger and Pinata alcohol ink and love them both. I suppose you can use what you have with resin and make coasters or trays, (I've done both) but you'd have to purchase more supplied, in which case, you'd be better off just buying the brands of alcohol ink I just mentioned. Btw...when I made coasters with resin, I used the alcohol inks I have to add color to the resin.

This is soooooo gorgeous. I’ve recently treated myself to some alcohol inks but as soon as I put a drop on the paper it starts to spread and by the time I grab the hairdryer on which I’ve even put the diffuser, it spreads out even more😫. What am I doing wrong? I was looking forward to creating an amazing flower to make into a birthday card for a friend. At the moment I’ve got all the gear but no idea!! HELP !!! X

No need for a diffuser. Hopefully you have a dryer with setting that is not too strong. Use it on low and only warm or cool. Try using less ink and if need be, keep the dryer on so you can grab it as soon as you drop your ink. If your dryer is too strong, use it from a farther distance. Give these things a try and let me know if it helps.

Beautiful work! I've been playing around with some photo paper but once the ink dries it doesn't spread when you add more ink. Are you just using the alcohol or are you using a blending solution?

    • @VivoVintageDesigns

I'm using the back side (matte side not the glossy side) of kirkland photo paper with 91-99% alcohol. If you use the shiny side, the ink is absorbed and wont move. Could that be the problem? Also, not all photo paper works for ai.

I've not tried, but watercolor and alcohol inks work so differently. Maybe if you put down a watery puddle of watercolor, you can use the airbrush to blow it out. Now, once I'm better, I'm going to have to give it a try!
