My pixel 6 pro has consistently, since the first few months of ownership had this issue where the display turns off but everything else is on. I have to manually restart w the two button method or just give it time. But that time could be a minute or two to as much as 10, 15 minutes or more. It seems like it is triggered by the fingerprint scanner - whether it's to unlock the phone or using in an app. I also think heat has something to do with it. Also seems like it usually happens when the phone is hot to the touch. But not just necessarily hot to the touch. Also happens when phone doesn't feel hot but I'm physically in a warm or hot environment - like at the park, walking a dog, etc. I'd kill for a permanent fix. Google warranty services wanted me to take to you break I fix but I've never had a great experience with them - regardless of location. So I decided it was better to live w the glitch than let them have my phone. I just don't trust them to open a phone. I got a screen replacement once that looked like it was done by a 5th grader for the science fair.

Thank you for this video. I've had my Pixel 6 Pro since literally the day after it came out. Now nearly 11 months later I came across this very issue of my screen going black while I was using Google Lens to search for an outfit. I both restarted the phone & then when it turned on the screen was still black after the 1st prompt so I turned it completely off for 5 minutes. Turned it back on & no change. The trick that worked for me was using the power & volume up buttons for 20 seconds. I didn't think to use that @ 1st because I have the "power" button set as using Google Assistant instead. Again, thank you for this video! I started to panic for moment 🤦🏾♂️

i did on Pixel 6 Beta Android to 14+ beta. After i press install, it dont start anymore. After Contact with Google they give me Flash Program and and... but i Only put my Type-C Kable on Computer connected to Phone (Still Black Screen), press On/OFF Button and Volume UP for 20-70 Sec.(Sometimes it need longer). I tryed the Beta Install 7-8 Time and every Time it work on my Pixel 6(not the Andriod Beta Install every time black screen). It will start then "Normal" to the Old Andriod (13+) will show you the Beta Install was Fail.
Great video but sadly nothing worked for me. My pixel 6 is just 4 weeks old. It just dropped off the table on a carpet. Music kept playing so I didn't worry. It's also responding and receiving messages but screen is keeping black. I think I have to get it to my workshop :(
My phone did this right before I was getting in my car, and I had forgot that pressing the lock screen button 5 times fast would dial emergency services. I had to explain to the police officer that it was an accident since I was able to hang up the call before more than 1 ring, but they called back just incase. I am not 100% sure what caused it but I did notice that it happened right after I put my phone on my lap and direct sunlight hit the screen. This leads me to think it was the auto brightness sensor dimming way too much. A restart fixed my issue, but my goodness what a headache and one of my biggest gripes about this phone so far. Hopefully it was a one time thing, but I've turned off auto brightness just out of being cautious. Curious if anyone else had this happen because of auto brightness?
Yup, I was also out in bright sunlight trying to use fingerprint login when the screen went black and froze. This is the second time it's happened because of sunlight!
Surprisingly this worked the second time I watched the video and actually followed through all the steps to step four and my 1year 1 month old Pixel 6 Pro finally woke up from the darkness. I was just getting ready to take it to the shop! It still shows an occasional flicker, but I will see how this goes.
