Same. As a kid I thought they were rubbish.
I loved Maurice's bass playing. He was a pioneer of playing low tension high on the 34" scale with a pick in the upper sweet spot between the front pickup and neck heal. I was in junior high and learning bass. Perfection of basic root style band first. Love him.
I hated them in the 70s, now a musician for 43 years they blow me away. Nights of Broadway was so badass.
My godson lived with me during his studies for actor and Nights on Broadway was one of his favourites....he actually introduced me to the song....in the 90's 🙃. Conscripted in 1976 directly out of school and that,'s were I lost touch with music - there was so much shit going on political and unrest wise. Working 9 to 5, race driving to the university, get home after 22h30, study weekends. Varsity breaks spent in uniform - I missed out on lot of good stuff....all for fucking nothing. If I could do it over again I will smoke pot, get a motorbike and work in a recording studio.

The Bee Gees have written some great songs, but To Love Somebody is a true masterpiece. It is one of those songs that no matter how many times you hear it, it never gets old.

Nights on Broadway. One of my all-time favorite Bee Gees songs. Love it, love it, love it. It’s so groovy. And Mr. Barry with his rhythm, and masculinity, and long legs, and jeans, and hair all over, and white teeth. Delish.
Wind of Change, also a groovy one. I always notice that Barry puts in the extra effort when it comes to rhythm. He’s attacking that guitar and dancing and grooving, and putting in all the emotion, and belting out those songs. He’s a joy to watch on stage. He gives his all. He lives those songs.

Totally different sound from his usual Barry songs. All the boys look so good. Sound terrific.
Barry is great but don't forget Maurice, with the slight twang in his voice, and Robin, whose voice has such depth and richness.
I never realized how talented Mo is on bass. He's as smooth as glass on this video.
He had a good voice as well. Can't understand why they did not let him sing lead on more occasions.
His work on You Should Be Dancing is one of the greatest bass lines ever recorded

It was interesting to see singing in their regular voices instead of the falsetto’s they are so famous for. Very enjoyable.
The falsetto was really for the disco years. They were known for their harmonies prior to that which is their early stuff.
I love the audience sitting there absorbing this incredible performance…no cell phones, no jumping all over or singing annoying loud with the band.
This is when they hit their stride and became one of the greatest, especially of the 70s.

My favorite musicians EVER! Love putting these cds in when im on a road trip. 4 amazingly gifted voices, tragic as it is that the youngest (Andy) died first. And then oldest (Barry) is the only one left. This and Massachusetts i can put on repeat. Will be a very sad day when Barry goes to join his family.
No autotune, no backing tracks, no click, dead-on harmonies, great songcraft... it's certainly rare these days, you have to hunt for any of that.

Unfortunately The Bee Gees were labelled as Disco Music and of course I wore the "Disco Sucks" T-shirts in the 70's. They got sucked into the Vortex of that music and kind of blackballed. So they began to just write music and produce for other artists until the bias disappeared. It took me until I was 30 plus yrs old to appreciate their talent and prolific songwriting and singing. The greatest voices and harmony belong to the Gibb brothers.
They went behind the scenes and wrote songs for other people a lot of famous songs Islands in the stream Greece And a lot of others And then later on they got popular again I know just about every wedding They still play Stay in alive The beegees can never die Although most of them are dead

I actually saw a comment somewhere that Mo wasn't singing at all... ever. 🤬 He just got better with age. If you watch the One Night Only concert in Las Vegas from 1997, when just the three of them are singing around one microphone Mo's voice really shines. Especially on Nights on Broadway ". Never got the credit he deserved. An amazing talent beside 3 other great voices in his family. Always missed.
