- Karen's speed is impressive in person. She is one of the best spinners in the world. When on, her jumps are spectacular. However, I don't think this program (as it currently is) is a great vehicle for her. The music cuts feel disjointed, and the choreography is somewhat empty. If she stays with this program for the Olympic season, I hope her and her team consider recutting the music to create a more effective crescendo and adding meat and characterization to the choreography.
Karen, what a talent she is, a whole package. The height of her jumps and speed of her spins are just outstranding, she really should be a top skater who podiums in all her competitions. The program is rather empty and unispiring though, she can do much better than this, plus the ending is a bit weird for me, it would be better to end with spin and just final pose. That spiral
breadstal I feel like the dress is also a bit weird but totally agree about her talent. She is the full package when she’s on. The jumps are big and impressive, spins are fast and hit good positions, and she’s fast and expressive. She also seems motivated after last season which is great, obviously not her best here but I like that she didn’t let one mistake ruin everything. Although the fact that she couldn’t get even a 3-2 in after the opening mistake is concerning. (Probably would have scored about 180 internationally:( ) Wishing her good luck a Japan Open!
Yeah, the dress doesn't fit with Carmen. It's a small competition, so it's ok, she can just learn from mistakes and gain experience with her program. It is worrying, I don't think she should even try doing 3-3 with Lutz because it's just so huge, she basically always URs 3T after it. It would be better for her try 3S-3T since it's obviously one of her better jums because she has two of them and put both 3Lz in second half. Oh yes, Japan Open will be very interesting, what a line-up!
Ugh. She's so talented, and I don't think this program or that dress are doing anything for her.
She just FLOATS in her jumps! I'm really starting to love Karen - I think shes the next top US lady to make a mark internationally!
Is it safe to say we don't have any ladies for peyoncheng?? What's happening to US ladies figure skating, where's Gracie gold!!
Karen Chen is a fantastic skater. She's become a new favorite. However, this program is all wrong for her at this current time. Perhaps when she is older and she has had more life experiences that deal with passion and love.
What were the placements? Did Karen win?? And where is the lovely very beautiful Gracie gold ???
K! 3000 Gracie Gold has stepped away from the sport to pursue help both mentally and physically (anxiety and eating disorder). She stated she would not be attempting a spot in the Olympics
Wow...wish we could get a break from Carmen for a while. That said, Karen is exciting to watch--she needs consistency, though...like all the American women. I love her big jumps when she is on. She skated the U.S. into three spots at the Olympics with a clutch performance at worlds so I hope she makes the team.
i absolutely love karen, but i hate the fact that all of her jumps were in the second half of her program. i can say this is one of my least favorite of her programs because of that, i just wish it was choreographed better.
She's one of my favourite skaters, so talented, I want the best for her and this program feels a little...empty? Not a big fan of the choreography
If she's gonna use a "war horse", she should have gone with Nessun Dorma OR Carmine Burrana.
This is not your olympic dress Karen.. if you are gonna use a warhorse like Carmen your dress has to scream sexy! Change the dress and wear red undies.. take some inspiration from Gracies tango dress 2015/2016 season.. good luck you are amazing
Parris Achard I agree. Does her choreographer even know what Carmen is about? She needs flirtatious, tantalizing choreography and garb.
