Considering Flea performed in front of about 100,000 people at Woodstock 99 stark naked, I can't imagine an open bathroom being an issue.
He literally dangled his bojangle.
@@pizzaearthpancakesandother2549 I suspect the crisp nighttime breeze jingled his jangles
woodstock98 lol
@@pizzaearthpancakesandother2549 because he was a pervert!
I watched the RHCP play at Numbers club in Houston, in the early 1980's. Flea broke 2 bass strings during that set. The good old days.
This price seems quite reasonable compared to the other houses featured in this series.
It's because it has Fleas.
@@maxprivate3805 😂😂😂😂
Idk? Are the properties out West retaining their values with Lake Meade & Lake Powell situations?
I haven’t found the address yet but it’s likely north in one of the canyons, which is a farther commute to LA & the fire risk now is through the roof.
Imagine owning a property once lived in by rock legend
The original Neutra house is what I wanted to see. I am glad that Flea has done minimal changes, and those were done in good taste. Absolutely beautiful!
The Neutra property is amazing, could it be sold separately ? (not that I'd have the means 🙂to buy) for now ...
I’d be happy just in that house, love it better.
@@thomascavanaugh5895 I live in a large 1950s modern ranch that a builder custom designed for himself. A lot of people think it's hideous. So, yes, it's subjective.
@@thomascavanaugh5895 I understand. I was watching a detective show set in early 1900s Vienna last night, and was wondering why the furniture was so ornate.

Flea's a champ. Deserves every dollar he's earned. Gives back to the community and a standup guy.

This property is STUNNING!! So many rock star properties are pretentious and boring, but the minimalism and absolute character of this house are top notch...
I’d pay that for the Neutra house alone. It’s beautiful and I love that Flea left the original design intact. He has good taste. Also the privacy aspect is amazing.
I'm sure it's heritage protected.
Not everyone lives in Los angeles
@@angelachanellehuang5663 Fair. But if you lived in Los Angeles you would live in Los Angeles. So there's that.
This IS spectacular. I've always love Flea. But this property has really opened my eyes to how dynamic and
visionary he truly is. Incredible !
As someone who builds showers and does tile work for a living-the penny tile work on that tub is unreal.
I'm a custom tile contractor as well and when you see something that blows you away after being in the industry for 30 years you know it's special. Truly a work of usable art.
Funny because I don't know much about that, but you can tell just by looking at it that it's an incredible work of art.
The shape is perfect
I was amazed how the verticals from the outer shower lead into the vertical of the inner bathtub seamlessly
All true, but the shower barely has enough room to move in. Form over function. Shame because the look is amazing.
Don’t know why I’m bothered, it’s not like I’m looking to buy it
The mature plants around the 1953 structure are stunning. They must be very old.
Wow. Such a sensitively constructed addition to the original building. Letting nature have such a voice in the whole vibe makes it quite something . Breathtakingly beautiful.
The Neutra designed house is outstanding… what a thoughtful design… what a nice feeling. Loved getting to see it in video- both indoors and outdoors. The mature landscaping around it adds a lot!
I agree. It looks better, too. The main building seems pretty drab (no color except that cool couch). . . .and views of a barren wasteland from climate crisis. I'd want some plants and nature around me.
Incredible property… the Neutra house should basically be a museum.
I first met Flea in the 80's when he was living with my boyfriend, Bob in a studio at the Hollywood Hotel. He's come a long way since then! Good for him!
I think I'd take LA in the 80's over a fancy house like this haha
When deciding whether he should stay or sell, Flea asked Anthony Kiedis, who said: “Give it away, give it away, give it away, now!”
I love this house. So much character in the original structure and I like the newer additions too.
Window cleaners must be there so often they’re part of the family.
Flea is the man, this is just a confirmation ! I'm an architect and I didn't know about this masterpiece.
I’m sure there’s hundreds if not thousands of “masterpieces” you don’t know about.
If you are an Architect from California or even USA and do not know about the Neutra works...well; go back to school fella.
Same, hadn't seen either of these buildings in the mags. The original is modest but intensely detailed (the sliding table is groovy). The 2009 house is pretty good too, feels Japanese. Seems a good deal for the whole 6 acre compound.
@@TheReverb1 GTFO of here. I'm also an architect. The idea that any architect should know every private residence designed by someone of Neutra's fame is ridiculous.
@@TheReverb1 Neutra was Austrian ;)
There is light from every room and views everywhere. All the structures are amazing.
Stunning, the use of cactus to create architectural landscaping that compliments the property.
Stunning! One of the most beautiful houses I've seen in this series.
Flea definitely has good taste for style!! The whole compound is spectacular 👍
I/we looked at the Neutra/Serulnic house MANY years ago...before any of the other structures were there. We didn't buy it because we didn't have the means to do what needed to be done...leave the Neutra alone and build a compound around it! THIS IS AWESOME...like a dream come true. Someone is going to get a VERY special property.
Kudos from SW France (where i/we live in a house that has been occupied since the 1500s).
I like the simple style throughout. It's not flashy at all. Well done Flea.
Hope everyone have their dream home one day

Wow this is the nicest house I have seen in a LONG TIME! Spectacular!
The bathroom (aside from the literally front mirrors exposing you to everyone in the home) is literally my ideal bathroom. Sooo beautiful, love the skylight!
This is a dream property for LA. Love Flea! Beautiful home and architecture.
If you want privacy you are certainly getting that .
It has good separation from neighbors if you want to get loud.
It's hard to find a house with 5+ acres anywhere near LA.
Honestly one of the most beautiful properties i've seen in this series! (all 3)
love all the cool angles and beautiful views wow. props to the guys that built that
dude, love the insight of this place. 👏 clear and thorough, didnt rush anything good job thanks for showing this place mate
The architecture, the interiors are all gorgeous of course, but to me (and I'm from the UK) it's ALL ABOUT the location, the nature, THE VIEWS.
The ability of this guy to casually paint objectively negative aspects as advantages truly amazes me
😂
Its his job, he’s a professional! 🤣

I have never loved any celeb’s home more than I love this wow so in love with absolutely all of it. And it belongs to flea of all the people I would think would own such an elegant, spatial, spectacular, picturesque, warm, eccentric, fun, luxurious home
I am a minute and change into the video and I am already being blown away by this classy beauty.

Just wanted to say this is a great youtube channel and i only found it recently. The content, production and presentation quality is excellent!
Absolutely love Flea! Beautiful property 🤩
A fabulous property! IF you haven't experience Red Hot Chili Peppers live, Please do so.
Saw them on my college campus in 1985 for $1. Raaaaaad show! Tru Men Don’t…Kill Coyotes!
I enjoy seeing the “Ikea” look of the furniture etc, that looks like a million dollars at the same time. Everything is so elegant, refined and beautiful. The guest bedroom - turned master’s - looks so cool and awesome. The bathroom looks like Star Trek. The thing I enjoyed most is how incredibly well-taken care of the whole thing is. Makes you want to just adore it
Gorgeous ! The video really makes it shine
It’s like a cold compound
I was gonna say it lacked soul or just doesn’t have a “house” feel to it…
Very well sorted out and thoughtful design. I quite liked it. View is superb. It feels as if the city was built to be looked by the owner of this house.
what an incredible property….mid century WOW. absolutely love this home and this style
Very cool and RHCP has been my favorite band for 35 years, so this is a great look into Flea’s life!
I will say that the foot steps of the cameraman are really noticeable
Legend. Love you Flea!!!
I could live in the cabin forever. Majestic views everywhere. Simplicity and solar energy. I would never want to leave a place like this. 🌶 🌞 🌳 🧘♀️ one of my favorite with Dakota Johnson’s place
Flea's done a great job taking care of this beautiful place.
Amazing design/build. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful property but man the air conditioning bill on that modern build must be horrendous, not one bit of shade off the house to fight the california sun.
I grew up a few blocks away and have been to the property many times when it was owned by the original elderly couple. Great views from there!
Wow. You are so lucky. What an opportunity!
I'm in love with this house! wow! klever, beautiful and for the people that live inside them built, not to show off.
Unreal. Exquisite taste and class. Each one stands one its own.
I've never loved the idea of compound properties. I wouldn't want to have to go to another location to do something else. Idk just me. Back in CT a lot of my friends had massive properties with multiple guest houses and pools and it was just too much
Splendid, fabulous ~ the vibe is so there.
WOW! Flea's house is so enormously big.
Flea and me…absolutely kindred spirits in our taste in Architecture. I’ve been obsessed with this house for a few years, but from magazine profiles and online info dated when the hexagonal structure was built, so I had no idea Flea owned it now.
Love the Neutra house as well, of course - OMG the details - but MidMod is my default so a design like that newer one is always something that pulls me in. I’m in the middle of designing a home for myself (a never ending process) and this house has been a major influence, mainly for the non-orthogonal layout, central courtyard, and almost-totally-open progression through. In my possession, though, the kitchen would be the showcase room.
Oh I totally agree! Mid century modern has always been my favorite.. I wish I was in your shoes! I’d love to be able to be designing my own home right now! One day soon:) And yes.. the kitchen would definitely have to be a the main showcase of the house.✨
so cool you are creating an awesome project - yes, the Chinese would say, the kitchen is where one's fortune lies ... ~

Very well done, design and architecture, top notch in these properties.
2 of the coolest houses i’ve ever seen. He’s got good taste for a superstar.
That fellow has come a loooong way in life.
Well he is a rock legend….
I know circumstances change and people move on, but I always wonder why great spaces like these go on the market. There's something a little bittersweet about it...
This is very common among the rich and famous. Flea bought the home in 2018 for $4.5M. It's on the market for $8.8M. Right before he put it on the market he bought a home in Beverly Hills for $14M. Buy a home. Make some improvements. Live there for a while. Sell it and profit a few million. Move on to the next amazing home.
Let's not forget that he also owns a home in Malibu. It's entirely possible that this was never his primary residence. Just a foothill getaway for when he tired of his beach home.
@@mjwbulich I guess you're right: us plebs dream of living in them whilst they see them as investments. Interesting point!
Because people want to cash in when their money people tell them the market is overvalued? How many houses do you need, this is certainly not Flea's only house and he likely never actually lived there. Flea doesnt strike me as the guy who wants to live somewhere northeast LA county or wherever, on a hill in an almost desert, looking down on suburbia. He's more the kind of guy who wants to have ocean view and access in walking distance.
People buy houses and never even live in them, some never even see them.
I lived nearby right around the time it was built. It really is beautiful and it's the coolest and most interesting home in an otherwise ordinary neighborhood. You'd expect to see a place like this in Beverly Hills but somebody built it right on the edge of Tujunga. I had no idea Flea lived there until now... we would always drive by and wonder.
I’ve never seen anything this beautiful in my entire life
When can I move in? This house is absolutely stunning!!!
I prefer the original house from the 50's - not so keen on the newer round one (or the lack of doors).
This 'house' is so well done, there is creativity literally everywhere 👏...
Just gorgeous. Good luck Flea wherever you go and thx for the decades of fun that you and the guys have provided. I started listening to the Chili's as a young NorCal surfer and still enjoy their work. 🙂
I read all of this in H.W.'s voice and it made him less of a monster
@@megamrsoftee ??? ok.
Spectacular landscaping.
How could anyone choose to sell this incredible property. I wonder if Flea is finally moving home to Australia?
I was wondering the same thing. Why is this wonderful home for sale?
My thoughts were either he’s heading to a beach or a farmhouse. This house is cool but I can see why he’d move on.
He purchased a Beverly Hills estate last year, and a place in Malibu the year before that.
The house seems like it's in the middle of nowhere. Doing basic stuff like getting groceries or going to eat out seems like it would be such a hassle with how far away everything is and how congested the roads always are
Waterfall deck ? Looks like a sewer culvert. I would imagine Flea living in a cluttered, cozy, boho style . Almost a hippie commune type place.
I'm 59 years old and I still have not learned that you never judge a book by its cover. Flea has amazing taste and is not at all as I imagined him to be off stage
you obviously have no idea who this person is. he is an accomplished jazz musician, who funds and participates in inner city music projects in schools.
@@figgettit they weren’t insulting him at all, quite the opposite actually.

What an amazing array of cool vibes on one property. A cornucopia for your every whim. I would loved to have seen a walking tour of the grounds.
What an amazing piece of work.
The main house is just awful. Cold, empty space with no personality whatsoever. The dining space looks like a school classroom with cubbies built around the walls. The entire house just feels hollow. And the cabin is just weird.
The original house is great! It may be modern, but it has a welcoming warmth to it. Even though it’s not where he spends his time, it has more life and feels more energized. Notice that there are built-ins here, too, but instead of looking and feeling boxy and coldly utilitarian, they feel warmer, more elegant, more adult and useful. That last is an important distinction.
In short, the main, more contemporary building has the impersonal feel of a public building whereas the older mud-century building has the feel of a real home with personality.
Unfortunately, the original house (which I was always in love with growing up) now has the newer structure ruining its view.

My condolences! 😸
Love how this salesman makes
everything a feature. :-))
This is amazing! The home is an adventure!
some much style!! like his guitar playing!! loving it
Why would you build that subterranean bedroom facing a power line?
For his chakras when he does the 5 minute meditation?
Cause he loves each string on the planet and at the same time he loves staring at them so that’s why he is the best guitarist on the planet!!! 😁
If I had to guess the development bellow is probably recently built and that’s why he’s moving because it destroyed his view and privacy
I grew up in Southern California and they’ve been talking about burying those power lines my entire life. He probably realized it’s never going to happen.
Also, weirdly, I don’t really notice them. People from out of town will ask why there will be so many in beach communities and I just look past them.
I would’ve offered to bury the line.
Very, very impressive. Even has a decent sized plot, over two hectares. Why is Flea selling and where is he going to?
He purchased a Beverly Hills estate last year, and a place in Malibu the year before that.
Wow breathtaking!
I love it - some unusual features, but it looks so comfortable, unlike some properties.
If I was planning a move to that region (and had the money) it would certainly be on my list of possible buys.
This is going to be a hard sell at that price with such a small kitchen.
The people who buy that house might never use the kitchen.
Beautiful! The God’s eye needs to be pushed over the cliff and the view of the power pole and transformer from the master bedroom are a deal breaker for that price point. The master bath with the circular theme echoed in the skylight, soaking tub and even the coin tiles is a master piece of modern sculpture and utility. Otherwise a perfect modernist home. The price is fair too. I just cannot excuse the power pole, lol… perhaps it could be a “casualty” in the next earthquake and be resurrected and buried under ground in a bomb proof bunker invisible to the eyes of the home’s inhabitants.
That would be nice (your idea for losing the utility pole), but of course anything to do with that would involve application and appeals to some governmental group, subject to long reviews and elusive approvals; I can’t imagine no one tried, but then they conceded and realized it’s ugly but it doesn’t really block a significant part of the view
We think alike. I'd bulldoze the cabin too.
That was a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode.
@@midlife_crossroads All you have to do is pay the power company to bury the line. No government group involved.
I didn't know I live just a few blocks away from Flea. All these years I never realized it was Flea's house...I can see it from my house. The stone fireplace is extremely common with houses in this area built at that time. My grandparents house just a couple miles away has a stone fireplace, as well as stone along the exterior lower belt line of the garage.
The shapes and lighting 💛💛
Translation:
Primary suite = master bedroom in leftish
I love the classic but contemporary design, the natural light that the spaces consume. Love the bedroom, simple but cosy. I love the layout and outside space. But it feels too remote and isolated, and I don't like the kitchen.
I’ve had an interest in architecture and interior design for many years. Purely as an observer, not at all qualified, but I love features like this and many other channels and TV shows. I have to say this is probably my favourite property I have ever seen. The style and taste just clicks with me.
I am wondering if Flea is leaving this behind, what is his next place going to be like. Now that’s a project/build I’d like to see.
Absolutely stunning!
I'm gonna scream if I hear the name Flea one more time. Are you selling the house or the rockstar?
Anyone else notice that telephone pole blocking the view at the 5 min mark?
you can have that view for only 9 million dollars. From good old punk Flea, the guy with a bass guitar in front of his shlong.
My respect for Flea has risen a lot watching this.
The view of that power pole was awesome!
I totally had a chuckle at that as well. What's the back story there?
That's a big nope for me. The buildings are too small for that price. If you have more than one kid, which building are they going to sleep in? And where's the garage for all the toys? The pool is far from the homes and bathrooms; imagine having a pool party and having to lug tons of food and drinks that distance. The basement bedroom has an amazing view of a power pole. You've got a long walk to and from buildings; if one building has a leak you may not find out for days. And the landscaping maintenance cost for 5 acres must be sky high. Asking is $8.8? That is a hard no for me.
This video is a good illustration of why you need architects or designers to talk about these spaces.
It’s one of the most unimpressive descriptions of a beautiful property I have ever heard. Instead of the finishes, I’d like to hear the story of the house - why it’s in a heptagonal shape, how the light falls in such an angular fashion in the courtyard, the challenges of preserving the mid century house in such a pristine manner, even about the couch Flea had custom-made. None of that is in this video. The property is beautiful but the narration/description is disappointing :(
Exactly. See it through the eyes of the designer.
Thankyou absolutely stunning ❤
Historic architecture 😮 love it
The 3 structures are a bit mish-mashed, they don't go together at all. Super modern batman style main living with a cabin in the back? Huh? Stylistically, it all makes no sense. This guy does a great job at attempting to make it all tie in though!
What a cold and unnatural house. About as much ' home' feel as a bus depot .
