Nathaniel Bandy Hey, Nate. Have you considered ducking or ground pounding in other areas outside of 2-3? It would certainly help with getting through some autoscrollers and make 3-Castle likely possible.

While I never attempted to play the whole game with a blue shell, I did often try to play through levels with just the blue shell back in the day. Yeah, vertical ones are a pain.

A few years ago I also tried to clear levels with just blue shell. I love the blue shell so much I was so sad when it didn't come out for any of the newer NSMB games

Try out newer super mario bros., it's a romhack of new super mario bros that you can play on an emulator. It has the blue shell power up, but you also get a hammer bro projectile with it.
I would 100% play a fast paced puzzle platformer like this, as long as the levels were designed with this kind of movement in mind

It probably would be fine if they were designed by Nintendo, but when I hear that concept, all I can think of are those flash games where the developer just purposely puts many insanely hard yet boring parts that force you to reset over and over again giving you the impression that the game is long and challenging. However, in Nintendo's case they could probably keep it easy enough for most people to clear yet challenging enough to be fun and throw in a couple interesting mechanics. For some reason I just generally tend to hate games that were designed so that you have to be moving at all times. It just feels restricting.
In this video's case, it's fun and interesting to me because you're trying to play the game in a way it's not normally played, which is also a feature you would probably lack in the game concept you thought of. That being said, it probably would be a relatively fun and successful game, just way outside my demographic.

In 5 Ghosthouse you can't get to the secret exit while in the shell at all times since you need to climb a vine to get to the part where the door is.

This game is my childhood! I remember playing this all the time. And yes I loved the blue shell. It was probably my favorite power up. What I also like is that there are completely unique bosses for each level. It isn’t just the koopalings or boomboom like it is today.
i wish the blue shell came back in the New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe/ New Super Luigi. U Deluxe instead of the stupid crown that can only be used by one character, while the blue shell could be accessible with all the characters (exception for Nabbit, who can't use the power ups)

The blue shell is by far my favorite Mario power up, I legitimately got the changing power up blocks down to a science to make sure I only ever got blue shells.

Things I love about these challenges is seeing how the game 'reacts' to them, basically, I guess, seeing what the devs accounted for like, I had no damn idea that the Blue Shell destroyed the snowballs or burrows through the deep snow

The blue shell was always my favourite in the multiplayer game mode, Mario vs Luigi. One of the stages (I think it was the ice stage?) had a blue koopa that would always drop a blue shell, so whenever me and my brother would play, it was my favourite to pick because I could slide around in the blue shell hunting down my brother while we played.
That one koopa you left going back and fourth between two blocks in their shell: “Now you know how it feels”

This is amazing. Some of the jumps you pulled off, man. And I winced every time the jump was just BARELY enough to go but you couldn't make it work, that was painful watching and I imagine it must have been even more painful doing. Anyway, great vid!
