Dumas's father was an officer in Napoleon's army, I want to say he was big in the Egypt campaign, so no surprise his wee lad used him in the Count of Monte Cristo
Good to see it back. Although it was briefly mentioned when Napoleon invaded Russia, the comparison gets made of Nazi Germany suffering the same fate is a bit of a myth that they were not broken by winter. Poor logistics definitely was a factor though which was exacerbated by winter
I can guarantee If history classes where more like this alot more people woukd have gcses in history love it

It should be worth saying that Napoleon isn’t from a Wealthy family, he’s dirt poor which is why he has to go to military school etc. he changed the laws so that ranks were based on experience and not on what family you came from. The French Revolution was all about removing inherited power based on birth right

Wasn’t dirt poor by any means, don’t know where you got that from. Definitely had a chip on his shoulder but he came from a family of minor nobility and certainly wasn’t poor.
