All Your Love Magic Sam Part 1 Lesson

- Magic Sam was an adonis of Chicago blues, a natural talent on guitar and a strong singer who died way too young. His late 50s recordings had that stinging, prominent guitar and a stripped down band that became the archetype of the West Side Sound. He came to Chicago from Mississippi at 16 (Eddie C. Campbell lived right down the street!) and recorded his classic hit "All Your Love" at the age of 20. It's one of those songs that is so recognizable, it should be played as note to note as you can. I've found and listened carefully to seven recordings by Magic Sam of this tune, and he played it practically as a set piece every time-- did he owe an accurate reproduction of his hit to his fans, or was it a repetitive emotional ritual? I THOUGHT I knew the song, but slowing down the record and listening closely again was a lot of fun and something I needed to do!

Man! What a great score! Can’t wait to dig into this stuff- thank you, thank you!
thanks a lot WB rock on!
Magic Sam and Otis Rush were, IMHO, the gold standard of West Side Chicago blues!! Thanks a lot for this wonderful lesson!!
Thank you SO MUCH for memorializing this Johnny. You’d make Sam and Eddie both so happy. I played with Eddie for a few years in mid 90s and we used to check in on you all over the city 😎
The good ol' days! at least for me lol. thanks a lot WK rock on!
Thank you, my friend. Great lesson! Greetings from Argentina.
thank you so much man!
Great lesson and inspiring video, clearly one of the true giants of the Westside sound !
Thanks for the great lesson Johnny. As you know, this is one of my favorite songs to perform. As many time as I have played it, there is always something new to learn.
Right on Chuck! That's the mark of a true classic!
great lesson, thank you from belgium
Thanks a lot Dries!
Appreciate your lessons a great deal. Tell me about that Rick you are playing. If you don’t mind.
After a 45 year hiatus I have started playing again and I gotta say ‘ what the hell was I thinking’🤣?
thanks Randy!
that rick was destroyed in a hit and run accident. it was a 425. I LOVE the twang on it. I still have the pickups and I'm gonna put it in something. good luck with playing. feel free to check out my 7CST zoom group class at Chicago Blues Network, pm me if you're interested.
Thanks Johnny. Never played the intro right, promise to do so from now on.
Lol! That's why the Eddie C intro is so cool, it's the same but totally his own too! Thanks!
I learnt guitar without a pick so I loved learning Sam's pieces they flowed easier was nice its rare you get lead guitarists not using picks he played his lightning fast boogies and other jams no pick either all ur love is slow enough in comparison to some of the blues he done he was as quick and sharp as buddy guy minus a pick
he really was. good point and thanks for watching!
Bro: you made this one to tell the three other people that watch the crazy stuff I put up now and then shame on me for daring to set foot on the hallowed ground of the Immortal Samuel Gene Maghett, huh? This is why I love you so: you set the record straight after I leave it out in the sun all day to get warped 🤣🙏💜
Good stuff Johnny!
The man
Oh yeah! Thanks Habib!
Thanks again for the amazing tutorial! Best on the web!

Superb Johnny gonna try to get our outfit on it after lockdown very nice John uk here
Right on!
Really awesome stuff! Thanks a bunch. More Magic Sam will always be appreciated. “Just Got To Know” live at Sylvio’s is another one of my favourites. Cheers!
Oh yeah. Thanks Darren. I'm gonna circle back to Magic Sam's slow blues style and will include Just Got to Know. Billy Boy Arnold has a great version of that JImmy McCracklin song too.
@@JohnnyBurginBlues Great!I will check that version out. Thanks again.
This guy and the original are mind blowing. Compare with the xerox guitarist that can't be distinguished from each other
At 5:55, sounds like LaGrange
Haha! Thanks for watching!
Great 👍🏾 can you do a tutorial of magic sam stop! You are hurting me.
great request thanks Level Up maybe a look at his slow blues style in general
You stroking up when it's meant to be down then up and when he starts that jump up he stroking down aswell if you wana do it like you said note for note
good piont and thanks for your comments! I TRY to do things note for note, it never comes out exactly that for me
I thought you supposed be teaching how to play the song, you're playing for your self
it got good to me at the beginning. deeper into the lesson there is a lot of detailed explanation, thanks for watching bro
Cool lesson but way too fast to learn anything
I get it and this year I have really tried to break things down more slowly for the most part. thanks for watching.
