Every Monday, Nick and I race until one of us wins 7 FlounderFest events. There will always be a punishment for the player who doesn't get to 7 decided at the beginning of every season! Each week is a completely new set of rules!

Is there a mod that randomizes the number of laps between 1-7 for each race? Not knowing if the race will end when you cross the finish line could be exciting.

This was a, uh... interesting experience, I love how as soon as I saw “Let’s play a countdown race!” I immediately expected item rain to be in the mix so I went quacker, and there it was, item rain countdown. I also had a huge breakaway on jungle parkaway of all tracks. Fun idea, but the bombs really bring it down.

I agree the number of bombs seem a bit too insane, just feels like a landmine field...
Indeed. Remove the raining shells (all 3 types), raining fibs and raining bombs and it'd be better.
Not only would it make it more smooth and less chaotic but it would help with the lag and item cap.
Keep the rest of the raining items, maybe add megacloud or the vanilla thundercloud (maybe not i unno) then it would be much more manageable!
Plus the raining items I said to remove don't even add to anyone's score it's just clutter, slows the race down and adds lag. As it is in the video without these changes is nothing but stimulation overload and lag. It's not helping that this it's stuck at 30fps but these changes could help!

Exoltic no, if someone moved behind you, you're forced to move back as well in order to have a lower placement
Really interesting idea! It would only work on some tracks though, tracks like Coconut Mall, Koopa Cape, DK Summit or Mushroom Gorge you can't go backwards at some point because there's either a wall or a cannon or a respawn point that would stop you from going backwards....
But I think Troy could control what tracks gets picked right? So Troy could just choose the tracks where this would work, like the Circuits/Raceways, Wario's Gold Mine, BC3, Desert Hills, etc!

Troy's picks are way better than Nick's for FlounderFest because it turns into ShockFest more often than not! Congrats to Nick for winning, though; I hope he can complete the comeback and make FlounderFest worth tuning in for besides getting the Daily Dodge Count.

Love the series, guys! And I've got an idea, I don't know if it's been pitched or not.
There is only one rule, you are not allowed to trick off of anything. Everything else is the same, you can set GP length, cc, and all that. However, I understand it's a reflex all mariokart players have so if you accidentally trick, you have to stop completely for like 2 seconds or something to make up for it (y'all can set that). It's one of those things where you two are at a disadvantage vs the other 10 in the room.

_Here's a suggestion for this to be it's own mode and to make it function smoother:_
If you moderated it to remove the raining shells (all 3 types), raining fibs and raining bombs this mode would be perfect. These ones don't add to your score, so removing them would help with the lag issues and make it more unique. You and Nmede were complaining about stimulation overload and lag after all.
The rest of the raining items are useful for the score and placement in the race (those being pows, megas, bulletbills, stars and shocks). I'm not sure about megaclouds or the vanilla thunderclouds for it but due to the lag and lack of points from the rained items, these changes would made it more interesting and fun, as adding that countdown mode makes the other items simply track clutter.
Regardless, Raining Countdown sounds like a lot of fun in theory and looks like there's a lot of potential in it!
