The only thing unrealistic about this game is the customers actually say "excuse me"
Me: Hi, how are you today? :)
Customer: (throws a bag at me across the counter) I have to return this >:/
God anytime a customer said "excuse me", I'd freeze up real bad. Thank god I got out of retail.
Forget about excuse me, the protagonist can pay for an apartment with just the retail job
Tbf i feel bad about you retail workers there in 1st world countries, i live in a 3rd world one and here the costumers were never rude, but i had a LOT of the ones who have like 500 cards to pay,
And the please help me. It’s usually “find it now!”
I personally love screaming "EXcuUUuSSE MEeeeE" at store employees while running at them at full sprint to find an Item I have already passed by three times.
You haunt my nightmares
One of my hobbies
i should start doing that. forget social anxiety
PUUUURRRRCHAAAASSSEEE....
Hhhhhhhhhh
Also back when Night of the Consumers first came out I only had 150k-200k subscribers lol.
Wow! Congrats on your well-deserved growth!
Love your channel bro keep it up! You will hit 2 million in no time.
Can’t believe I’ve been following you for that long 😂
Thanks for great content as always!
I was there for those days!
Don't worry manly
You're just gonna grow now
When i worked in retail, i thought it was weird how every customer would immediately target me for things but not the veterans of the store. It took me a couple of months to realize that the vets would keep a low profile by wearing their jackets over their vests, taking off their vests to go on break, pretending to be really busy so no one would ask them things, and sending the new hires to do work on the floor
Fair Plqy
Work moment
I'll keep that in mind.
Yeeep. Pretty much. After a while you learn to blend in. I stopped wearing my name tag at work after the first year or so.
For some reason costumers approach me even if my arms are full of heavy product. I do wear my jacket to try and blend in though. If I see someone go for a newbie I help out just because I know how much it sucks to get swarmed all the time when you don't even know the place.
Un-ironicly one of the scariest and most stress inducing jobs... I mean games
If they made a horror game where you work in a busy sub restaurant it would be my nightmare lol, i could never use that stupid deadly slicer fast enough
@@SimBits or being someone who works for the DMV or hotel. I’m shivering.
As some one that would work stocking while the store was closed...we dread overtime cause of the opening costumers
@@captinseaotter8447 You nighttimers have it easy
This game is truly representing the pain cashiers and retail workers do every day...I will respect them more now
They need to make a Black Friday chapter that's nothing but pure chaos.
That's a good DLC idea! It could be an endless survival mode with time records
144 👍
Would need to add a mechanic where the customers can trample the baby and throw boxes at each other.
That would be an epilogue
I like how the baby is casually breaking every costumer ankles
The unexpected ally
He looks like a baby from zombie eat my neighbours 👶
Just like real toddlers let loose in a store.
Manly: you okay?
*violently vomits*
Manly: you're okay.
I mean
Dead people can't vomit, right?
if they can breathe, they can work
He just hurked up all the badness
Why is that so funny?😂
i like how the customers get completely peeved when you take longer than 10 seconds to bring them somewhere but are completely fine with you tossing probably heavy box at them
first comment
Ah yes, the game that made me feel guilty about ever asking any employees about anything in a store
Its obviously an exaggeration. Just dont be a dick when asking for help and read the room. Dont bother someone if theyre busy with something
When the first version of the game came out, I was still a student however my introvertedness still freaked out. But now I am in retail, so NOW the retail horror hits.
What a day, Mr. Nightmare posts supermarket horror stories and now this, ha.
Lol. Same situation for me.
I just noticed that the mother is wearing either a tactical baby carrier... or body armor.
I went back to the original video and she was wearing it back then as well.
Also, I'm glad the dev kept all the references from the original version.
I really like the hidden messages in every single name of product. Like one can of paint says "pain", or "get out" instead of "cool kids" juice. It's cool
Must be really confusing for the customers though lol
We need an 8 hour long version of this, with a dlc called "unpaid overtime"
Inventory night. 💀
Another DLC called "Curse the customers out, throw your hat at the manager, and quit"
Unpaid overtime? Where do you live? China?
I would never work without pay.
@@Pr0vidence555 some companies have a culture where 'you do this extra work or this will count against you' and even though it's not legal, are you really going to spend the time and money to sue or put up with it until you find a better job?
@@lilyhawthorne1196 Costs no money where i live so yeah i would. But everyone has to evaluate his self worth for himself.
Overtime sure, if needs be. Unpaid overtime never ever.
The true horror in life is not monsters, but the monsters people tend to be at retail.
I'm glad they're continuing this game, there was intresting peices of lore sprinkled throughout the orginal and I'm happy to see more.
I think he missed the pizza guy. I'm not sure how to trigger it, but after some time, he knocks on your door and does a little dance. His theme is also really catchy.
Also the game ideas is cool in general
I noticed the Lester is missing sign doesn't appear on first day anymore
I like how aggressively overwhelming this game is, it’s like it is actively trying to give you a panic attack!
Welcome to retail! 😂
It's funny how they speak to the manager when you're too slow to get them to the right lane but not when you throw boxes at their heads
Yoo i never realized thaat
I'm so glad this game got an update! It's unique and relatable. Though I'm scared about that Karen; she may be instant death if she finds you...
Nice hypotesis
I can’t believe you always revisit horror games thanks for your amazing dedication!
@@lelagrangeeffectphysics4120I think there is a never-ending pit of B and indie horror games, he'll be fine
@@lelagrangeeffectphysics4120 i liked that game tho. it was cool, not the best but cool for a indie game.
@@lelagrangeeffectphysics4120 and hes not back cause of lack of games, theres a new ending and resumed development, that itself is a reason to comeback and replay the game.
@@lelagrangeeffectphysics4120 I severely doubt it. He's said in a previous video this year that his "wishlist" of games to try is 100+. There's always "high quality" simple indie horror games out there.
@@lelagrangeeffectphysics4120 Do keep in mind, this channel is about showcasing indie horror games, not about AAA horror games.
I will always love how accurately they captured the horror of working as a floor staff in retail, right down to the bloody dude asking for the aisle he is standing in.
Like damn who didnt wanna just hide in the backroom when its busy and you helped so many dang people nonstop and got like 20% of your work done. I'll look forward to night 2 if you play it.
I've survived retail horror for four years.
Same. 3 years at Publix, especially during the lockdown. What a horror....
You are not alone . Im Vet too . Working almost 5 years in a gas-station in germany called jet .
Sometimes there are things in life that scarred you forever . But in retail the are wounds that could open anytime again.
It aint a bad job actually but man ... there are people out there which you question their sanity and sometimes even their existence . Sometime you got people that cant be related as a human . Weird shit .
My job hardened me mentally but i honestly still think this chaos of uncontrolled consoomerism has something in store which maybe could be considered almot eldritch in its worst stages .
And im not joking.
Try 13 years bro, it will change you.
8 year veteran here
@@Snyperwolf91 It's true, anyone who lasts for longer than a year in retail has had or has developed the ability to mentally endure stuff that regular people can't. Retail has taught me many useful communications skills to get through the thick skulls of potato-brained human wastes-of-flesh, I've moved on to HVAC/Plumbing now and every single "problematic" customer they've warned me about has been no issue for me to deal with.
Oh wow! Wasn’t expecting to see this game again. As someone who works in retail, sub shop and deli, it can get like this when it’s a lunch/dinner rush.
Lol I remember my first time seeing Markiplier and Jacksepticeye play this. Man nostalgia hit hard.
It's probably one of Mark's best in recent era. Absolutely hilarious.
Same
M
Nostalgia? Bro it’s been like 1-2 years maybe? 😭
@@thevelvetcarpet3179 3 years is a pretty long time
Glad to see this psychological horror game make a comeback. Hopefully the dev does finish this as it will be interesting to see what methods the Manager uses to "Fire" people.
Coming home from working late hours at a retail job to watch this video is surely something
I ADORE how some of the items say weird stuff when your stalking the shelf, Like the Ketchup saying “your waisting your life”
List of items and the changes.
Ketchup: Your waisting your life
Dog soup: You’re stuck
Miracle Cream: Waisting away
Cool kids: Get out
(Could not read a thing on the video games)
Paint: Pain
Kill them now: You are a loser
(Didn’t see anything different on knife set)
I think the videogame one is just a reference to the haunted ps1 demo disk, so no change.
I swear the ketchup at one point also said "I know where you live" on a bottle
Ah yes. Waisting.
100% accurate to retail jobs... I agree with the other comments, the only unrealistic thing is when the customers actually say 'excuse me.' I can't wait to see more development of this. Unlike true retail - this was actually fun, I really enjoyed watching this.
9/10 retail simulator. The game is just missing customers who ask you to go grab stuff they forgot from their list for them while they wait in the checkout line.
I like the tiny amount of references they made to other horror games like Baldi's or Spooky's jumpscare mansion.
This really feels like one of those old arcade games!
But this has so much potential
It would be kinda cool to see this game in a VR or Multiplayer form. Would be funny to play something like this with friends.
Working retail in VR? Oh boy, some people are gonna get PTSD...
The stocking would be so much more intense in VR.
imagine if you could sacrifice your friends to the customers in multiplayer
Return of the century! :D
I always love when Manly replays games that have been updated or playing a sequel or tie in to that game!
So glad this game got an update! Can’t wait to see more!
Retail horror is a dangerous horror; that’s all it is, and it hurts.
you are weak
I never realized until today that the intro gives you such a nice visual tutorial about all the mechanics. You have to put your stuff in your locker using the mechanics to place items on the shelf, and Jimmy shows you that you use break rooms to reset aggro and can throw boxes to stun customers.
I love how silly yet genuinely scary this game is
I just love how these people turn common day to day experiences and turn them into horrifying lovecraftian scenarios
Glad to see the devs come back to this and give it a proper work on. Can't wait to see its full potential
Ever since I've watched your first playthrough of this, every time I go shopping I think about this game and "EXcUSe mE?!" 😂
Wow, I was just talking about this game and how I wish they do something with it and here it is! Damn, the timing! I use to miss and think about this game, always wanted it to be more and now it seems that's happening! Also, there's a pizza guy that comes to your apartment. Not sure why you didn't get him. Guess you needed to open the door?
he just needed to click on the telephone that was there
I actually can't wait until the second game, I loved this one! So glad the dev is revisiting it!
Not a second game, but a second night. That Karen will probably be insta-death though.
After discovering the secret room I assumed the manager was a serial killer or something, you known the typical plot twist.
Turns out he only wants the employee to keep coming, enduring the same treatment, six days a week, for minimal wage with no benefits, until you cannot take it anymore.
.... Maybe I would have preferred the serial killer.
This game is so nostalgic i remember watching other CZcamsrs play this during covid
this is exactly how working retail was for me. sometimes you gotta throw boxes at the patrons just so you can actually get your work done.
I'm so glad the little hidden messages on the products that you shelve are still there. 😁
"Nothing like some Cool Kids Juice...wait, why does it say 'get out' on the label?" 🤣
I remember watching this one when it first released, curious to see how much it improved
I LOVE how jumpscare the customers are now.
Some customers do be like that.
The concept of this game is horrifying. The customers are so crazy 😂
Manly : "you okay?"
Jimmy : *vomit*
Manly : "he's okay"
😂
I remember watching CoryxKenshin playing and beating this crazy drama game. It scares me sometimes because of how fast the customers are *pause *😂
right 😭
@@hikawagetsbitches they be running so fast at you like they're the ignited animatronics
Glad to see that this game hasn’t been abandoned
I really love how manly edits the videos, instead of having to watch him constantly replaying the same thing over and over he gets to the point!
The new customer is 100% a Karen and likely will either cause your timer to drain faster or she'll change her mind about where she wants you to take her and have multiple things she wants at once leading to longer delay
12:05 "I wonder if I should purposely hunt people."
No follow up, no lead up. He really contemplated starting A Dangerous Game during his first night of retail.
I actually love this so much, the amount of effort and care that’s been placed on it is amazing now.
This game's made me want to avoid asking for help at grocery stores. I guess that was one of the game's goals?
I was not expecting the ned's declassified school survival guide reference
2:58 silly hero isn't real, he can't hurt you
Silly hero:
They should add a customer who is very courteous and polite, they never rush you down and if they ask you to find something they aren't timed like the other customers, but if you hit them with a box accidentally you get fired unlike normal shoppers.
I was literally just thinking about this game like yesterday lolol
Oh man, been awhile since I thought about this game. Cool to see it getting expanded on, I remember your strategy to make things more manageable. Can't wait to see how night 2 is harder.
This is awesome to hear! I actually just recently looked back into this game a couple weeks ago, because I had wondered if anyone solved the door thing, if there even was something there. So to hear they're remaking it and adding more has got me excited, as this is a perfect example of a scary, stressful, realistic yet non "horror" game I've seen.
You been uploading so many videos that I actually been enjoying this time around. Felt like there was a drought in the videos that you dropped, but things feel good again. Always nice to see your videos. Even better to legitimately enjoy them.
Im actually glad that its getting a ep 2 because it ended in a cliffhanger
Pretty cool to see this game back and it getting so many cool improvement's too! exicted to see more of this game.
I'm always so awkward to ask something because i don't want to bother them, but only when they're clearly busy
if i see them just finishing to unpack a box or something like that then i go ask something
_Employees need the equivalent of Platform 9 3/4 at the end of the aisles_
I'm glad to see more of this game. Oddly scary. Definitely looking forward to seeing more about the sadistic side of the manager and secrets of the store!
I'm glad theyre working on it again. This is such a unique game and... relatable...
Glad to see this game make a comeback! Very excited to see what the other nights have in *store* for us!
He really threw that box of canned food at her.
Like, she's dead. She's not gonna see her grandkids after that throw.
LMFAOAIIAKA
I used to be a WM bakery/deli associate in the mornings and the worst part of my job was dealing with customers that didn't understand that I didn't know anything outside of my department. Being asked to look for things on the opposite side of the store.
I'm a vendor, now.
And one of my favorite things to say to customers: "I don't work here."
Wow I did not expect this game coming back, I can't wait to see what the future holds for it
From what I can tell, the new customer type is a Karren, who are quite famous for saying "I WANT to SEE your MANAGER". But considering that would be an instant loss, and it's only night 2.. it might be a mechanic where if you don't service them after a certain amount of time, they'll demand to see the manager, or they might ask you to "Go search for the thing they want because you *must* have it stocked in the back"
Well jf they add enemies I hope they add passive npcs like the baby
Well here are some consumer ideas
Bodybuilder threat level minor: immune to box throwing but moves slowly and knocks over other customers
Karen threat level major: pathetically slow and can get distracted by other customers however she has the least patience of each consumer and its an instant game over if you hit her with a box
It could also be the "Too good for ur time" customer, he send you searching for a precise item, and he will "stay" in the same position while you do, the only point is that he actually moves randomly while supposed to be waiting for you.
one of my favorites games I love to rewatch from you! so excited for this
This certainly brings me back. I remember playing this three years ago. Even gave copies for my friends to try. I remember enjoying this game because, as a former retail worker, it certainly does adequately showcase and adapt. The tension and drama that stems from being a supermarket wagie. Plus, this has been an awful week.
Having good news like this is a Godsend!
I've been waiting a sequel for a long time!
Damn didnt expect they would make an comeback
Bro your amazing. You ontop of every new game update that comes up ❤ it’s literally perfect
man i love this game and your playthroughs!! it's so much fun, can't wait for the updates
He should make it a mall, like Dead Rising 2. I'm telling him. It would be great!
Lol
*Chuck Greene riding a tricycle*
i love how manly is smh so calm, even in horror game types, his playthrough made the game feels more relaxing lol
My respect to their effort to make game looks much better and keep original style. It's really much more pleasent to watch, yet, it's same style as before.
Remember this was one of the first video I saw of yours Manly. Pretty sure this is what made me subscribe 😅 I'm glad they're expanding this game! And I'm glad you're playing it!
I love night of the consumers
i love hearing them tripping over the boxes by themselves, absolutely HILARIOUS! man, i'm a child
EDIT: Just realized it's the baby, still absolutely cracks me up everytime!
Being asked a million questions and the only refuge is the backroom...too real
As a consumer I can confirm I love entering retail stores and chasing down random workers at lightning speed yelling "EXCUUUUUUUSE MEEEEE!"
New game idea: rise of the stock market😳😳😳
LOL just a few minutes ago I got an E-mail about this update. I got the game in a charity bundle off of Itch.
Man I'm excited, I remember watching this game when you first made the video; never knew it was going to get updated again!
Omg I love this, I’m so excited for the rest to come out!!!
When this game came out like several years ago, I never worked in a retail...But now I'm working at a retail, I understand the pain and horror of working in one..
I remember this game was released during the whole 2020 craziness
That baby should be a full time employee the way it deals with the customers
Night of the consumers was the first game that got me into Manly and the horror games genre in general
I'm glad they had an update, and that Manly was able to revisit the game
Brings back so many fond moments back then
This game is a ‘working at Walmart for minimum wage’ simulator
Out of all the indie horror games I wanted made into a full game, this was up in my top 3. I wonder what I did to deserve such a great gift
as soon as i saw the update i knew you'd drop a video
thank you for this upload!
