Great content - some good info on NZ whisky to try for our Porirua Whisky club (we took a field trip to Oamaruvian country in the autumn - definitely recommend their 3yo Revolution!)
I don't know who was first with the single blend, but Dutch distillery Zuidam has one as well called the Smugglers Dutch Single Blend. It's a lot like a Japanese whisky, very fruity and smooth but with a good mouthfeel to it and super cheap.
Sorry I didn't catch this live - I was up until the wee hours of the morning watching 4 Leaf Whiskey and KillCo Whiskey Musings and then overslept! (Being 'accidentally retired' has played havoc with my sleeping/waking habits...) Over half my bottles are NAS, so it might take me a while to narrow down candidates for each category. Good choices from you lot!
Good stuff gents. Was going to mention towards the end that Limeburners distillery in Western Australia use peat from the Walpole region that adds a really interesting dimension to their whisky. Sadly their prices are a probably a bit higher than they should be. Still worth trying if you have the opportunity.
Definitely need to try some whisky from New Zealand but everyone I see I can't seem to pull the trigger on like alot of the Australian whisky seems to be pricey and come in 500ml bottles .only 500ml bottle I've ever bought was that Nikka from the barrel which someone mentioned on here was actually very nice.but since I've become a proof hound think I've been loving my barrel proof Bourbons ,like I think wild turkey rare breed be the best value here . definitely awesome to here everyone's thoughts .cheers guys🥃🙏

looking up some new whiskys here, and found one called "umiki" for only $35 and 46%. mixed reviews, mostly positive, unique using desalinated ocean water and finished in japanese pine barrels. notes sound like old pulteney
Nikka I really disliked. It was too sweet. More like a syrup. I would go for Connemara Peated and Jameson Black Barrel. Yeah they are Irish. :) But... Compass Box Orchard House. Spice Tree is also amazing. Oh and Douglas Laing Rock Oyster. :)

Great topic guys! The NAS that has become perma shelf for me is the Old Pulteney Huddart. Super coastal with light peat and a great mouthfeel.
These big shows I tend to watch in chunks, great show. We love them !

@@davidm_shaw nice shoutout for Limeburners they make some good single malt including peated spirit using ancient peat beds from old forrest region.
Fuji Single Grain is USD 99 in the USA. Almost 3X! God Bless America!

More Aussie whiskies are becoming available in 700ml now, not the biggest fan of 500ml bottles myself!
