Hate to say it, but when I was a manager, I'd rather have a charismatic person, outstanding with customers, a joy to work with, but actually just does an okay job regarding their responsibilities, instead of an employee that is outstanding with their responsibilities, but just okay to work with. You can always train someone a job, but you can't train them to be a nice person.
