Awesome review for Captain America Epic Collection Vol 6: The Man who sold the United States. To be honest, Frank Robbins' drawing isn't that bad. Plus Kirby's Panoramic drawing is astounding. No wonder he's the GOAT of all artists. Can't wait for Captain America Epic Collection Vol 9. TO ME, MY EPIC COLLECTORS!!! COLLECTERS ASSEMBLE!!!!
To each his own, to me Robbins’ pencils aren’t the greatest, not after coming off of Steranko, Colan, Romita, Buscema, etc. They just look too messy and lazily drawn. And Kirby is ONLY a possible GOAT, or “King”, when he’s paired with Joe Sinnott. Like Robbins, Kirby’s latter-day pencils look old-fashioned and not very attractive, but his double-page spreads are stellar.
You are tearing through these Epics! I don’t know how, when I’m sure you were spending time gazing at the glory of Frank Robins’ art! 😅 At least those issues made Jack Kirby look great by comparison.
My friend, I’m enjoying the journey! I never knew how much I would actually enjoy Cap’s adventures. Yeah, Robbins and Kirby (without Sinnott) are not the best examples of penciled artwork, but I got through them… onward to Vol. 9! By the way, how’s your own reading journey going with Thor?
