- If this is the ElectroJac 6, I'd hate to see what 1-5 look like. Technology has come a long way! The electroejaculator stimulates the bull allowing for collection of semen samples.

How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a CZcams channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.
FINALLY FOUND A JOB THAT PUTS A SMILE ON TRAVIS'S FACE...LOL
"guy gets hit in the junk and there's not much point in living anymore"🤣
and the reward? sent to the packing plant,,,,
This must be the commercial level electrojac, not the home consumer model 😂
Well yeah, it's the "6"
None of that flimsy "3" model.
Anyone who thinks being a vet means vaccinating kittens should watch this video.
The real life of a rural veterinarian.
Dr. Pol on NatGeo :) (or Discovery, I don't remember)
@@kladpapier NatGeo Wild is the channel Dr. Pol is on, along with Heartland Docs.
Problem is most of the kids going to vet school only want to vaccinate kittens... getting harder and harder to find large animal vets. They'd rather make the big bucks and have it easy working on Fluffy and Fido than doing the dirty work down on the farm... OL J R :)
😂 "Man this is a hard video" no pun intended.
Congratulations, you guys on keeping the junior high school humor to a minimum. I bet she gets a little tired of it from some guys. :)
Good content. This is what I expect from a channel called "How Farms Work." Thumbs up!
Dr. Sally Harper is awesome, what a great vetrinarian!!!
The jokes you guys wanted to make but couldn’t to keep it family friendly. 😂😂
The intent was there. That's all that counts. 😂 😂
This video was a great hit in my English class for Japanese veterinary students. They were fascinated to discover that the bull subsequently recovered and started breeding again (based on Ryan’s later videos); this case wasn’t a neat fit for their textbooks. Many thanks to How Farms Work for permission to play the video in class, and the students appreciated the farmer's double headache of a bull who leaves open cows in the breeding season and then breeds cows in the winter. Great to know that you’ve got the herd back on track since then.
Hey Ryan Back when I was farming I had the same problem you guys are having, I got 2 bulls after that and problem solved. You guys take care and be safe 👍
I saw ElectroJac 6 and was like: Yup, he's getting body fluid samples today from the bull lmaoo
Nice video Ryan! Awesome work!! 👍🏻
As a guy I cringed during this one. Lol Travis cracking up over the bulls leg was awesome.
Remarkable. I never saw this on Dr. Pol.
Great Vlog, great review of testing the bull and investigating reasons why so many cows were empty, thanks for sharing
"I don't see your leg kicking"
I’ve been watching you for so long, I feel like I work on your farm 😂 love it
That's the first time I've ever seen travis smile, lol.
"I don't see your leg kickin" HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Great Video Man! Best Channel! Keep Up The Good Work!
Good to hear you have an answer
That's a first for me. Never saw that done before. But glad you found out the problem.
Great video Ryan
So many one liners in this video i'm not even gonna start LOL. But the good News is at least you know now Brian. Nice Vet, worth their weight in gold imo.
Thanks, this a good education video. I have been in that same boat. Few understand if you miss that window, how far backwards it sets you!
Travis isn't happy he didn't get checked lol
This was very interesting and informative
Ryan great content glad to see ya found issue
That bull will follow Travis around like a puppy dog from now on
We sold our bull yesterday due to not having strong enough pen to hold him when not with the cows; not to mention he started getting aggressive. We are leasing 2 bulls from a place out of SD this summer for our herd of 50.
The cost for doing this including travel, equipment, expertise and time seems incredibly low.
Well I can definitely tell that I am 31 years old now and a lot more mature than I once was. There are so many comments that I want to make about this video but I’m just gonna say it was a really great video Ryan😂
Exactly what I was thinking...
Now THIS is why CZcams was created!
Got the notification at work. Got excited. Saw the title. Don't think I will be able to explain this to nosey co-workers. Guess I'll wait till I get home. 😒
Gee Golly Willikers!! And I thought it was bad when the doctor put BOTH hands on my shoulders! :-)
Great video!
One can't help but think of VIAGRA as a possible remedy ....
not when your shooting blanks. The Bull will likely be sent to the butcher.
@@CLEARVIEW666 Who said he
s shooting blanks?
Very interesting video!
The song “Harper valley PTA” came to mind when you were talking about all that at the beginning haha
Spring Creeks Cattle have a bull sale Sunday Feb. 14th in Fennimore Limousin, Angus , and lim-flex
hey ryan glad you got the bull looked at now you know what the problem is sorta thumbs up and shared by the way sounds like u had alot of snow here for sure and looks super cold at the end of the video
Ryan I hope you read through these comments. Lots of high school ones but others with sound advice from people who seem to know what they are talking about!
Sorry for your loss Ryan. I seem to be in same boat My bulls only last 2-3 breeding seasons We breed summer for spring calves and winter for fall calves and just wear them out. Feed him corn for 30-60 days and make all hamburger out of him
Sonne Farms has some bulls, you could go by some dairy angus cross calves in the spring and raise them to get your calf numbers up. I don’t know if that’s a big thing in the Midwest but it’s a big thing in Washington that’s what we bread on our dairy here in Washington.
Need to get a bull from sonne farms of u tube
Need to check distance
Wisconsin Hereford Association is having their Spring Sale March 6 at the Fennimore Livestock Exchange. Get those black baldies, the high bred vigor and lower the temperament on those calves. Roughly 14 hereford bulls to choose from, from different operations.
Herefords, the one breed for every need.
coleman limousin ranch in charlo montana will be having there annual bull sale tuesday april 6th. they have top notch bulls.
Sonne Farms has real good Black Angus bulls for sale. They are nice and tame too. They have a CZcams channel. He has been breeding and selling bulls for 15 years.
They know them
@@calebmanuel17 yeah look at this dude trying to take my sale Brian and I agreed on a box of beer if these boys do. And for the record Sonnes have been selling angus longer then 15 years,,,,, they have been at it longer then these boys have been a green in there daddy’s eye.
l've been getting a lot of snow too and the Weatherman says that sunday or monday I get another inch of snow.
Sorry to hear about your bull, and i just realized that if you got a bull to breed open cows they would calf end of November and thats to young to go thru winter, so good luck this summer.
Unfortunate but glad u had a vet knowing what she was talking about you will get through this
Same thing happened with my grandpa's bull he bought from 2k two years ago. He told Kevin at 2k that the bull didn't do any breeding and got a discount on his current bull from 2k before last year's sale. You might be able to do the same thing my grandpa did.
Maybe it’s a case of the bull needing the stage to be set.......you know.....to get him in the mood.I was thinking maybe some Barry white music and soft lighting mite do the trick..
Maybe some cow pheromones' (scent) needed?
dinner and a moooovie?
@@firstname6208 Watch cows gone crazy.
At least you found out the bull was broken. That can be fixed. Hopefully you have better luck with your bulls in the future.
Well there’s definitely some humor there but it also makes me learn and understand that I know the bowl could’ve had an injury just like just like humans but hopefully the rest of your calls the 15 at were bred hopefully they’re OK and hopefully you can try to get an idea which ones matter not where the problem is being caused it God knows but this gives me a new perspective on how a cattle operation works too so it’s definitely give me a different perspective with cattle specially at people or handle cattle every day I check my head off to them😂
Try to reread before you post, you seem to not know how to spell even for autocorrect, if posting have it that people “could” understand, you’ve failed totally at that with this post.
I never seen a cow hurt a bull good video very informative thanks
I had a nice bull I raised from a calf... don't remember what the problem was with his mother but I ended up bottle feeding him and stuff, was gonna sell him for a feeder but he was a really nice frame bull and easy to work with, so I kept him as a yearling and he just kept looking better so I decided to keep him for a bull for the Shiner place since he was out of the Needville herd. Anyway, he was a really nice bull and for about a year did a great job... but then we came up checking cows one day and his pecker was broke bad-- it was pointed like a left turn signal and couldn't even retract, and he was dribbling discharge. It finally went back in, but his breeding days were done. SO he went to the auction... hated to see him go but when he can't do his job anymore, it's time to go.
Later! OL J R :)
I agree with a few others here and you should reach out to Sonne farms, Cole runs the channel but his dad Brian is the one to contact for purchasing bulls, they mention where to contact them for a bull in the past couple recent videos.
The least you could have done is have a picture of a cute cow for him to look at.
Yeah. All he had was dad standing there. That can't help.😂
Shes real good at it...
"Broke his member off"
oof.
You're getting all the snow, we don't have that much up in Eau Claire.
In England we just use a in season heifer and when they just on there back we insert him into the sleeve
Hey. Try timed AI And then throw one bull in to do the cleanup.
We had a vet test our bulls a month ago
I thought it was a nice bull when you got it☹ glad to see that you found the problem😉👍
Have you considered the collar that dairy farmers use to detect when they are in heat?
This sounds like a Mike Myers film, "We shall make him talk, bring out the anal probe."
In all seriousness after several years where due to blank firing rams we had a longer late lambing finally got my dad after a previous bad experience to agree to get them pretupping checked. The vet that came out was brilliant he explained the reasoning behind every from mouth to toes from size of their testicles, the consistency, to checking sheath and urethral process damage. Followed by actually showing us the count, shape and mobility after breaking out the probe for one.
Bulls can go temporarily sterile if their body temp gets to high. This has happened to my brother with his herd. Caused by extreme heat a few years ago.
The guy parked up on the hill is probably looking at that beautiful sunset.
Had a belted bull that ended up getting a penile hematoma in breeding season, he lost a ton of weight before i could get him sent to the locker. May be what happened to your last bull?
Halarious, Travis trying to make small talk while holding the EJ6. We were losing it😂🤣
Yip don't need to comment much 😵. Glad it went OK 🙄😲😬.. Well done on doing a video on the topic. Stay safe 🏴 👌 👍
two would help with having how many cows y'all have
Did I hear you ask your dad if it’s true about getting old ?
Good video Ryan
Couldn't they come up with a better name?! ElectroJACK?? My immaturity runs strong with this one.
Yikes, if the bull had as many inches as there is snow on the ground he would not be called Hamburger.
Bad news to hear, but such is farming.
Travis was cracking up back there 🤣
Great video the leg movements were a hoot. Thanks for sharing!
"The unfortunate Story of a Bull" should be the title
August?? The derecho??
Nothing ever easy !
Looking at your previous vids, looked like one of the cows was mounting others, don't know the herd well enough to tell if it's the same one, but bears looking at...
Thats the first time I heard Travis lol before
Is AI an option for your open cows?
Asking a 2 year old bull to cover 39 cows on open pasture was futile anyway. A 2 year old can cover about 20 head. Maybe 25. But not 39.
I guess he over exerted himself to the point he lost function 😱
In these modern times we can't ask you what you think, instead we have to ask how you feel. So how does if feel? Do you think it will also work as well on the bull?
Please explain the economics of his impotence not being at the sales barn this week ?
What is the comparative cost of having 2 bulls versus AI?
Wow that is interesting. Never heard of testing a bull like that. Well at least now you know it's not your cows that is the problem
Ryan I sent you a link on facebook about some surgery techniques in repairing a bull who has obstructions and/or damage.
Don't know if it helps in you bull's situation. Good luck.
Time for a Sonne Farms bull.
Is it possible that the bull was injured in the Derecho? If so, would the insurance claim from the wind damage also be extended to the bull and lack of calves?
Must be Rosie is kicking them! :)
"I don't see your leg kickin." lol
did you synchronize the cattle and AI them since ? you could have them all breed in less then 2 weeks
Ryan & Travis you could buy a good use chute, you already have the tub ,then could pull blood from the a few cows and have an Idea if they are bred early as 28 days after the bull is in
sorry about your bull
You could rent a bull from Strommen in Blanchardville
in the beginning i was thinking of getting in line than i decided maybe i would just sit right where im at
Well U said it was cold!
I'm thinking that the "E.L." character from "Road Trip" would want to try that device out.
