  • Do you struggle with the idea of faith? What is faith, saving faith, spurious faith, and what does it mean to believe in Jesus. Pastor Jesse breaks down the true meaning of faith as pertaining to the scriptures, and he refutes the modern twisted notion that Calvinists and Arminians alike have placed on faith.

    The biggest thing I've noticed from those people in the comments section who argue for works salvation is they will deny that they believe in works salvation. They will say things like "I believe that salvation is by grace through faith and we can't earn salvation." But they go on to say "you have to do good works." How they don't see that that is "earning" or "working" for salvation is beyond me.

    One of my favourite verses in the Bible is Romans 4:21 , speaking of Abraham and God : “And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.” Abraham simply believed that what God said was true! Jesus promises that those who believe in him will not perish but have eternal life. I’m persuaded.

    Jesus doesn't lie! Yes! And that is exactly where our assurance comes from. The fact that jesus is not a liar. Too many people think their actions and feelings are assurance. But it's the very fact that we can believe every word from God's mouth because He is not a liar.

      Our assurance you speak of is built on a blind assumption true assurance is built on the proven love truth reveals that you learn to become One in and with. Transformation of the heart of faith to know and be One in and with.
      This love in truth is a proven knowledge with feeling in unity. Jesus reveals it by his truth you find in repentance if you learn to become One then when Jesus says: "no man knoweth the Son but the Father and no man knoweth the Father but the Son AND THOSE TO WHOM THE SON CHOOSES TO REVEAL HIM."
      This is our faith...we don't see Jesus but we can know the love of the Father he reveals!!! Have you found the heartfelt faith? Then this is your proven faith.

The eldest of my sons interrogates me cruelly from time to time claiming I am not saved, because according to him I do not have any works...I have been reduced to tears many many times with him, to the point where I dont wish to engage with him anymore....to think that some years ago, he was destined for hell in a hand basket...he is very intelligent, and I cannot speak to him about such important things, such as faith. Please pray that he comes to the knowledge of the gospel in its simplicity. I weep over where things will lead if he does not come to the truth.

    Hebrews ch 11 is examples to the church of how you live by faith. They(OT heroes of faith) were praised for their faith. THe evidence for their faith was in what they did. Not in what they didn't do. Noah built an ark by faith, and on down the list the writer goes. They didn't turn back, choose an easier path, or renounce their faith due to persecution. What they did was not works as in trusting in themselves, but trusting in God. A faithful life lived to God is characterized by trusting and obeying.

    Hey Good morning Pastor Jesse & Tampa Calvary! I was wondering if you could possibly make a segment video on Judas Iscariot and his fate (unless you havent already done so). I have found scriptures in Matthew and John and acts that point to him being condemned to hell,
    3Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood.
    When the bible says "when he saw that he was condemned, then repented himself," would I be interpreting that correctly as he was on his way to hell for being an antichrist and tried to change his mind after Jesus or the Father had already judged him a betrayer?
    Don't mean to get off from the gospel but generally want to know if this is a correct way to interpret.

    Faith is both a gift of God and a human act by which the believer gives personal adherence to God who invites his response , and freely assents to the whole truth that God has revealed. It is this revelation of God which the Church proposes for our belief, and which we profess in the Creed, celebrate in the Sacraments, live by right conduct that fulfils the twofold commandment of charity, as specified in the ten commandments, and respond to in our prayer of faith. Faith is both a theological virtue given by God as grace , and an obligation which flows from the First Commandment of God.

    • @BibleLine
      @BibleLine  Před 4 měsíci +1

      The work of God was the cross work. This goes well with John 6:44, and John 12:32 expounds further. Whenever these ideas are mentioned, even in Acts 5 and 11, the idea is posed that the cross draws ALL people. The individual (Jew or Gentile) must believe in Christ. The context is so important to John 6. We can’t just drag verses out of context (even 6:37-40, 47) to prove what we desire.

    @Xgolfer11 Před 5 měsíci

    Good sermon. In my years of dealing with the definition of faith a very subtle “redefinition” of faith has crept in and sadly by those who claim to follow the Free Grace moniker. It is claimed that you must be persuaded that what you’re hearing/reading is true. If you are not persuaded, you haven’t believed. Some will even go so far as to say you must be sure of it or you haven’t believed. Zane Hodges, Bob Wilkin, Jody Dillow, et al. (from GES, FGA, and others) insist on this attribute of faith for faith to be valid. This is flatly not true. First of all, faith is a volitional acceptance of the truth of a proposition. It’s a matter of personal consciousness when one has exercised one’s volition. Anyone can accept or reject the truth of a proposition. To be persuaded of the truth of a proposition is another matter. To be persuaded, you must have data (facts, proofs, testimonies and depending on the individual, lots of it that will take time to collect and analyze.) More than that, you must have the skill, intelligence, perseverance, etc. to wade thru the data and correctly assess its integrity and truthfulness. Most importantly, if you become persuaded, your confidence is in YOU, i.e., that you have done the hard work of collection and analysis. Finally, you must be sure that you didn’t do it wrongly or make a mistake or that you weren’t deceived. In short, persuasion is a tall order unless the proposition is axiomatic. Believing in Christ for salvation is simple and straightforward. Your focus and confidence are in Christ, not you. (Think about the brazen serpent (Jn 3:14-15) There are no demands on your fact gathering skills or your intelligence. You simply accept it. God knows when you’ve accepted his gift. He doesn’t require you to be a skilled and experienced research scientist. The words of Lewis Sperry Chafer say it all in his book “Salvation,” “It is quite possible for any intelligent person to know whether he has placed such confidence in the Saviour. Saving faith is a matter of personal consciousness. I know whom I have believed. To have deposited one’s eternal welfare in the hands of another is a decision of the mind so definite that it can hardly be confused with anything else.” Watch out for subtle false teachers. Some actually mean well, but they are very confused. (Too many letters after their names.)

      When you believed on the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross, your soul is saved for eternity. You're a new creation in Christ. God doesn't remember your sins anymore because Jesus has paid all on the cross. Now, you are a new creation in Christ, sealed by The Holy Spirit, you have the ability to walk according to The Spirit until you will be absent from body either by the rapture or death. A believer will still commit sin because we are still in our earthy body. when you do that, you apply 1 John 1:9.

      "The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin" (1 John 1:7), by securing the remission of past sins (Rom. 3:24, 25), and enabling us to walk in harmony with the law. Gal. 2:20; Eph. 2:10; Heb. 13:20, 21.
      Past sins don’t need to be remembered, but that does not grant indulgences for future sin.
      Paul says in Romans 3 that the justification that we receive through faith in Christ, without works, is “for the remission of sins that are past.”
      Those sins are placed upon the altar of sacrifice in the Heavenly Sanctuary and are covered by the blood of the lamb.
      From that day forward, we find peace with God through the blood of the Atonement, but the Christian life has just begun, and we are now to “go on unto perfection;” [Heb 6:1] to grow up “unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” [Eph 4:13]
      Therefore, the sins that you commit after conversion are to be confessed daily.
      Let us ever rejoice that "with the Lord there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption" (Ps. 130:7); and that the blood of Christ cleanseth us from all sin.

    Go to your Oxford english dictionary and you will see rapture and it's Second definition where the Christian theology has moved it to a place where you are whisked off to heave. The first definition says taking something by force the rape of a woman. What a word to put around the brides neck. Second Timothy addresses A resurrection that is passed already As being false doctrine. The rapture fits that category So when it happens it will be a resurrection that is past already. This means there are words incorporated inside of words besides the definitions themselves. To tell you what someone is thinking while they're writing or talking. And yes God can think while he's talking just like you and I. Example: Blossom. Text the s s And you have Bloom Which is what a blossom does. Now you know it's character. We could keep going with bloom. But you get the idea. There are several characters in this one word. Which lets you hear more about What and who a blossom really is. Repentance and Faith must be tied together to share in the belief in/on Jesus. Can you explain this connection? In your present broadcast you evade the works of faith in what the works are. And How you are able to have assurance or confidence for your faith. Are you defining in error the trust in the assurance...as our faith without defining the works of faith. Faith without works is dead!!! You avoided this issue means you don't know it. Your admitting that people are saved by the confident assurance in the bible being true then and now. But says nothing about the reason for belief based on the works of faith!!! ???Why are you so afraid to see what the true works of faith are??? We all have a bag of faith given to us at birth. But it is empty and we are to fill it with the substance and evidence of faith. Hence we need more than the confident assurance of proven history. Every born again is Spirit filled to the limit of their given measure. Like in the parable of the Talent's Five measures given to one servant, Two measures given to a second servant, and finally one measure for the third servant. Notice the final result the first and second servant said look master you gave us five measures and two measures and we got five more and two more measures and we both gained entry into the kingdom. But the man who buried his and earned nothing was denied entry to the kingdom. AT the least you can do it realize it's your move. This is defined in the 7steps of adding to our faith. When full is sufficient to our belief in Jesus. These seven steps are given in verse: 'Add to your faith Goodness....to goodness knowledge, self control, perseverance godliness brotherly kindness and love for if you have these in Increasing measure they will protect you but if anyone is lacking you will have to find and exhibit them selves as growth is noted . And needed..Spirit is given needed for truth and faithful belief. Great you have done step one and added a half of step two to your steps in faith. Add the other half of step two. Then finish the next five steps in faith. When done you will have a proven faith. Not a history lessen. Five more steps!! To add to your faith these truths that make for the works of faith towards the Way in Jesus. And have to answer any questions with dignity.

    Your definition of faith is wrong it is faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen. That substance has tangible evidence. And knowledge. Once found. And it's found using the Way in and of Jesus. Which consist of repentance, faith and works and all three unite by the following the 7steps of faith. Repeatedly if you have more than one measure to find. Because you need to fill your measure till full and sufficient for your belief. You know nothing.

    "So what if that (the gospel) offends people?" Precisely.
    1 corinthians 1:18-19: ¹⁸"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. ¹⁹ For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent."
