- In this short video show you the building of my Mortarion, Daemon Primarch of Nurgle. I give some basic advice on how to put together a model painted in sub-assemblies, but he main purpose of it is just to show off my finished model.

As someone who isn’t the greatest painter Morty is great, there are so many details that so long as you apply colour to then he will look fantastic. The biggest problem is the wings and smoke in my opinion but there are some great guides, to help. Anyway hope that helped😁
I went with getting a painted model off of eBay for half the price of GW and just paint the rest of my army using the same colors as Morty
I paint Salamanders and just got Adrax Agatone. I'm nervous to paint HIM, and he's barely taller than a normal marine, I can't imagine how people with huge and detailed models like this must feel

Friend of mine built and painted Morty, his painting skills make me want to break my brushes and drink all my paint...HOWEVER! One thing he mentioned was having to pin Mortys wings due to the contact points being pretty small and the weight of the wings being more than he felt comfortable leaving as is.
I guess my question is, what's the ritual you used to acquire such great painting skills and how many chickens did it cost?

Protip = use a desk fan on lowest setting aimed at the painted model when using super glue. No more frosting. 👍

А вобще меня дико удивило, что люди перекрашивают одних примархов в других примархов. Видела, например, как новую модель Леона переделывали в Кёрза.

Oh, so many! I typically chuck in an hour or two a day and this boy took me many weeks. I should really time myself when it comes to doing Angron.
Never sleep while putting together Primarchs
If you need suoer glue use black super glue and then use debonder to remove excess
It's looks better then my but I'm not doing golden demon 10 hrs of paint time after building will do. Still one of my best jobs

Save up your spending money and do what you want with it. Easy as that
Wdym homebrew, so you play as DG but it's not? It's a DG warband or something?
In the second case, the Primarch of a Legion, shattered they may be at times, is usually still respected, especially in the case of the Death Guard cause it didn't break apart as much as some traitor legions did
In the first case, that could make for a wonderful, long kitbash project. Use Morty as a base and modify him as much as needed. Surely there's some kind of super warrior, construct or anything like that that'd fit?
Well, my planned Death Guard army was going to be Pallid Hand, which use a very different scheme. I figure Morty and other named charecters will be in traditional colours, regardless of who they are fighting alongside.
@@Meuduso1 i just have DG minis but with another paint scheme. Like its not DG but its another sucsessor chapter that also fell to chaos.

Question, I am new to painting Warhammer, would you recommend paint then assemble or assemble first and then paint?
I assemble them as much as I can, without compromising my ability to paint most of the details. It's a bit of a balancing act between making it easy for yourself to paint everything, but still be able to assemble the model easily when you are done. That said, theres nothing wrong with having an occasional area where you just jab some dark paint in and call it shadow. 😉 I hope this helps.

I want to buy Mortarion.. But I do not feel ready and it would be super nice to give him a base with light from beneath. I think that could be neat for my livingroo....😢
No paint went off during assembly with bare hands? Did you varnish or are were you just delicate?
I was careful with him, but I also varnished the pieces beforehand.
You don't have to rough up surfaces for plastic cement since it bonds plastic by melting it together. Also never use superglue on plastic because it is too brittle; save it for resin.
I think it's standard undertaking that roughing up the paint or evening not letting paint on the gluing surface is so the glue can access the plastic and melt it. He's not roughing it up to creating a bumpy surface for grip.
"Never use super glue on plastic"? No, you can certainly use super glue on plastic. Different glues have different benefits and drawbacks, and yes superglue is brittle but it is definitely useful in situations that want quick-drying. If metal models were assembled with superglue, it can be used on plastic.
i paint mine assembled...angron was forgiving ish; fulgrim is so danged fragile.

If I was to go for it at the moment, I'd probably go for the Lion. I love that model.
Did the same but the fuckin wings were s nightmare to get to stay even when using super glue. Was worth it though. He was so much fun to paint.

Curious. I’m building my own, sub assembling very similarly to yours, how hard was it to get the left arm on? The cable that sticks into the torso on mine keeps blocking it and making it extremely hard to put it in without separating the pieces making the shoulder guard
From memory, I think I put the tube in first and then worked the arm into place. The whole section needed to flex a little, but thankfully the paint held up. 😅

Mortarion is probably one of the most ironic Daemon Primarchs.
He absolutely HATED Psykers, now he himself has psychic abilities from his Chaos God.
And all that only because he couldn´t stand that his father killed his foster father instead of him as he wanted but failed.

Don’t get me wrong, finishing a miniature like that at one’s peak quality is doubtlessly an achievement worthy of praise, but…
I doubt that this was objectively worth it. Definitely not with my idiosyncratic set of priorities. If you like painting like that, cool. Knock yourself out.
To me that degree of subassembly is my absolute nightmare, would take all the joy out of painting the mini and I really couldn’t ever justify the tedious process.
The sculpt is visually outrageously overloaded and unnecessarily swirly (supposedly to dissuade recasting), so even I might have done some subassembly of his chains etc. but his core? Why? It seems gimmicky and unnecessarily masochistic to me and I’m saying that as someone suffering from (sometimes crippling) perfectionism.
So I bought the Ford rolled materion and then I bought this one and I have to say this model was a huge disappointment

Ive been obsessing over the warhammer lore for about a year and now im thinking about buying some minies but im not at all confident in my ability to paint. Anyone know if/ were you can buy pree painted minies? I often hear jokes about how expensive that side of the hobby is. Does anyone know how much a painted primarch would cost?
Just try painting it is easier than you think and really fun! But if you want lots of people sell their fully painted armies
