    Being someone used to ride all the time and do just about any jump i wanted to this is spot on. I havent riden in about 6 years and i wanna get back into it. so i need to re train my mindset so i can sort of get learning again how it all goes. I'll be watching more of these videos to get me re familiarized with riding. I miss it so much !

    Very nice lesson sir! That's helpful. I'm struggling with jumps like this at the moment. My problem is, I'm currently hitting bigger doubles at 60% so I land in the safe zone well short of the frontside of the double. I feel like coming up short in the 80-90% area is gonna really hurt. So it's where I'm at vs. going for full commitment and clearing it. That's a big difference.

    SOOO glad I finally found a video to help me get the little info I needed to feel confident enough to try to conquer a double. By far the most helpful information was the info of trying to hit it half way and inch your way up to clearing it up fully! Thanks so much!

    It's all in confidence. The jump always looks bigger when your standing then when your riding. For me, I ask my buddy who happens to have the same bike and ask him how he hits it. Then just send it. The longer you think the harder it is. Decide when your gonna hit it and stick to it. I did it on my first big tripple, cane off the jump face too fast, tire spinning cased sideways and almost highsided. But now I'm not scared of it and next time I'm out there I can get it right. (It was last lap of practice so I didn't get another chance or I would have). You just have to get that first one out of the way

  • @CarsnStuff

    Good advice. Im currently facing this issue with a pair of doubles at my local track. and for my skill they are big and intimidating.
    One of my biggest problems is when i come up to a jump ( especially a double ) that requires committing in order to clear it. I usually panic as im coming up and just go wide open and over clear it and most of the time it ends in an ambulance ride.
    usually i do focus on the tables to just catch some air and get the feeling so i can get myself in the motion and get the courage.
    Its just the way the main double is setup its the type of jump you have to go at it if you wanna clear. trying to jump half way will hurt. So eventually when im more confident over all i'll be so happy to do all the doubles here

    I believe this is the first tutorial video I've seen that explained in depth what to do after you leave the jump face. My main confidence robbing concern and problem has been how to control the bike in the air on a bigger jump. This explains how to keep the bike level through the middle and how to angle it down for the landing. Great advice!

    • @brockvaughan4371
      @brockvaughan4371 Před 9 lety

      If you go nose high in the air pull in the clutch and tap the rear brake. If this is intimidating to you try doing it with the front brake instead as this eliminates the possibility of stalling your engine mid flight. If you nose dive lean back and give the throttle all its got. Hope this helped 👍

    • @TG93Handle
      @TG93Handle Před 7 lety

      z Flipper it makes the front come down, not nose dive. This can help if you accidentally kept on the throttle too long and your front way too high, it can help level it out,

My buddy had a pretty nasty crash when he did it during a race. I just roll it now, but it is slowing me down so I would like to be able to hit it.

    Yeah well said Dr. Dubach ,you really need to jump your way up to the face so u learn and get a real good feel for working with your bike,the steps of keeping the weight on the suspension,evenly and learning how to jump short not come up short its two different things,its a big step from jumping short to getting to the point where u feel confident enuf to clear it,there is a tech tip to coming up short and that put your weight forward if u come up short,think of it this way if u come up short the front if the bike mostly just get the front wheel over and u put ur on the front the back of the bike will not compress and try to pitch u because all ur weight is on the front wheel and forks so the back if the bike just kind of does a little tap and the front weighted totally will pull the rear along with no weight on the rear suspension so u don't go flying and do an endo,which is end over end,not pretty,if when u come up short u drop ur weight to the rear just as u come up short it pulls the front back down loads the rear drops your height and distance,and when the rear unloads it will send the back of the bike up and u with it,Table tops and get the take off and landing angles dialed first good job,most sensible teaching and good clear instructions,now ur ready for Supercross just kidding,really...no supercross we gotta change ur whole suspension set up,and u would be able to ride it on an outdoor track,not kidding,there is no compromise...its one or the other...ask Doug

    • @CL959
      @CL959 Před 10 lety +1

      If you overjump and dont crash, then whats the problem? Start by not jumping all of it, and then just go abit faster and faster and when you are close to clear it you just give it that little extra and taddaaaaa, you made it.

      Well, then you can learn how to almost clear it, not fully back on jumping from a crash and got a new bike that got way to stiff suspention atm. But tomorrow ill be jumping and going all out for it, so tomorrow by this time there will be some vids with jumping in them. Can film how i do to judge the speed when jumping :)

    Don't be fooling yourself I have been road racing and racing motocross and have ridden supercross and super cross is what I prefer,but supercross tracks are not very common to find to practice on...but I consider doubles Pro jumps because u really have to like Doug is say work ur way up to them and most important u need to be practice in clearing table tops and downsiding the table tops ,its just allowing the bike to,(the rear to come up under u as u fly and go up with your feet u bend ur legs when u know u are high enuf and have speed to clear it,bend ur legs and allow the rear to come up to u and at the same time a little push from your shoulders down on the bars and u match the down angle of the landing ramp,
