Schweddy Balls is the best written and acted SNL sketch ever
They did a special like the top 50 all time SNL sketches on NBC and this one came in at number two. The one that beat it (no pun intended) and came in at number one was the infamous Cowbell sketch. That must have been a tough decision since both make me laugh so hard and I watch them both whenever I need to laugh and get my spirits up. I know they did one either before or after this for Schweddy Weiner's which I have only seen like a couple times. If they had this one up, surprised they don't have the other one somewhere.
@Nenethegreat W if I get the recipe for delicious balls, can I send them to you?
As a long-time fan of both SNL and NPR, this skit is GOLD. I actually saw the Schweddy Balls one when it first aired and don't think I'd ever laughed so hard in my life.
I don't think most people really appreciate just how well the 3 of them kept a straight face throughout the entire Schweddy Balls sketch. Imagine Jimmy Fallon in this? He wouldn't have lasted a second.
Ana Gasteyer and Molly Shannon, absolute legends!
I feel violated yet festive at the same time.
I saw this in elementary I'm a father now 😂 still fkn highlarious💯
I had been out of the Marine corps for 6 years and when she said whip them out I died.
Noah Fong you said that for the meme right? Because every boomer had been out of elementary school for a long time after 1998
"My muffin hasn't had a cherry since 1939." 😐😂
Just how... HOW do they do this with a straight face. What amazing professionalism. Such a classic bit.
Probably helped that they didn’t have to look at one another. Other than that, your guess is as good as mine.
As a small boy in 1968 I was with my parents at a hotel in NY City waiting for the elevator to go see the Macy's parade. the door opened and there stood Betty White and her husband Allen Ludden. we stepped into the elevator and Ms White knelt down, said what a cut boy and kissed me on the forehead. I have been in love with her since.
It's one thing with Alec Baldwin and the "Schweddy Balls", but Betty White with her "Dusty Muffins" took it to a whole different level. It's even funnier than the "Schweddy Balls".
They’re so on the nose with their NPR voices. Always loved this sketch!
best SNL Christmas/holiday sketch ever 😂🙌🎉💚
Still a classic. Also loved Betty White’s, “Dusty Muffin!”😜
It's ASMR meets fifty shades of grey.
I hate ASMR its so lame... this was 1998 before that waist of time called ASMR
@@scottburton6539 Molly Shannon is actually a big fan of ASMR. She used to talk about experiencing ASMR sensations long before that term even existed and I wouldn't be surprised if it influenced her in this role. When she imitated soft spoken individuals who triggered her ASMR like a female cashier, I remember thinking it was remarkably similar to her portrayal of this character.
It's highly annoying, making me feel ready to punch somebody right in the snoot with a steel-toed boot.
I have watched SNL since its inception and Schweddy balls is and will be my favorite skit forever.
perfect delivery, beautifully executed, and not one character break
"No one can resist my Schweddy Balls"......LMAO; CLASSIC!!
It's clear from the comments that everyone couldn't get enough of Alec's Scweddy balls, but for my money Betty's Dusty muffin was what was really worth coming to see.
Gotta love Betty White!
My muffin hasn't had a cherry in it since 1939! LMAO, gasp, ROFL
If you wanna roll on the floor laughing, just listen to the show with your eyes closed!
I was thinking about the exact same thing. Cause I'm listening to it while working!
Oh my god. I have heard jokes from both of these sketches for years but had no idea they were from SNL. I just cried from laughing so hard.
"Dusty Muffins" lmaooooooo I have the hardest time finding this skit...so happy it's included with "Schweddy Balls"!!! lolol
How in the world did they keep a straight face? The schweddy balls segment was hilarious 🤣
Hard to believe this was 22 years ago. i can remember crying laughing when it first aired
No one can resist. Even my 80 yr old parents like this sketch.
To not break character... AT ALLL... live, and in front of a studio audience, it’s masterclass
Schewddy balls saw it when it first came out. Everyone at home was asleep and I was bursting with laughter and my mom came into the living room asking what's the fuzz is all about and I was like Pete Schewddy! And his Schewddy balls! She took the control, she saw it was on NBC and then just promptly said, well, at least you're not watching Cinemax and went back to bed XD
This is like comedy ASMR.
some radio programms is original asmr. i remember searcing "pleasant voice recordings" remembering that hot girl radio host in 90s. -while there is no such thing as asmr lol
Alec Baldwin literally made me cry when I saw that sketch the first time, I was laughing so hard, gasping for breath & pounding my fists into the couch, I was nearly hysterical. Still can't believe this made it past the censors.
This particular upload is perfection! I've seen the 'Schweddy Balls' clip a million times, but somehow never saw the 'Dusty Muffin' clip...GENIUS!
Everytime NPR plays "the splendid table" on the air..... you can hear Pete Shweddy laugh...
One of my favorite sketches of all time.
I gonna make & gift big schweddy balls and dusty muffins for Christmas this year!
Such professionalism to not lose it during this sketch. 🙌🏻
The Betty White one still cracks me up
The fact that they didn't break up during this is a credit unto itself!
One of my favorite SNL skits of all time! Especially for a Christmas holiday skit! Remember watching this one live when I cared enough about the show and laughing hysterically
"A lot went into that..." 😂😂
I love how vacant and medicated they come across to allow them to even not realize the significance of what they're saying. The key is the setup.
This is still one of the best SNL skits of all time. It still cracks me up to this day.
They kept straight face too 😆 🤣
The perfect dry NPR delivery, bereft of any emotion.
8:20 - I love that the audience starts to react and then she gives them a glare that says 'Don't get ahead of yourselves!'
I remember watching this live back in 1998!
I love you Betty White! You are a legend.
They kept a straight face the entire time meanwhile the 4th grader inside me is dead
Their names (Margaret Jo Mcullen and Terry Realto) sound cool and are fun to say.
I still can't believe that they got away with this! Lmao!
To hear Alec Baldwin speak with an NPR voice is to see the face of God.
Even though I know it's coming I still laugh like crazy.
The main reason I like old 90's SNL... They almost never crack on set. Half the SNL crew today couldn't do this without smirking or just losing it on set.
Because I have an excessive rat problem, yah Santa’s fun. Is there a better conversation transition. I don’t think so.
Never gets old. I laugh every single time I watch it.
hilarious double entendre skits. amazing how they never broke.
It's nice that they each got a ball of their own.
Oh man.... To have some Schweddy balls this Christmas😍😍😍😍😍
I love how you can especially hear the women in the crowd just losing it with laughter! Classic!
Dear Ben and Jerry's: please bring back Schweddy Balls ice cream.
How on earth did they keep a straight face?
What are you waiting for stupid, eat it! - Betty White's dusty muffin made me laugh even harder than the Schwetty balls sketch.
This skit and Colonel Angus and More Cowbell are the greatest most memorable SNL skits ever.
One of the best skits in the history of mankind...
Whenever I hear the phrase “Good times” I mention the Delicious Dish skits and I’m amazed at how many people haven’t heard of these skits. Like many others who have commented, I too think these are some of the funniest skits ever on SNL and I tell the people who haven’t heard of them that they’re really missing out. What else is amazing is that it’s such a simple setup with no physical comedy at all, just word play. Some say puns are the lowest form of humor but I don’t agree at all, well written puns and word play can be absolutely hilarious.
Some things will just never get old --true classics! Lmao --again!
I wish theyd included the "Schweddy Weiner" skit too.
Always the BEST HOLIDAY TREAT!!!😂😂🤣🤣🤣🎄🎄🎄
These two sketches are **Fucking LEGENDARY** .
This is the perfectly cast skit -- Alec Baldwin's deadpan is as good as it gets, and Ana Gasteyer and Molly Shannon play the softly spoken, Puritanesque New Englander type to a "T". One of the funniest skits in SNL history -- easily a Top 10.
Best memories from my child hood is watching SNL every Saturday night, the one night I was aloud to stay up late. I’m glad I grew up with SNL. This really brings me back.
These were the best 😂😂😂
I definitely miss some of these older SNL skits!! 🤣
It takes true skill to not crack a single smile while they do these
NOOOO you gotta listen to this without watching the video!!! lmao
God, they nail the NPR vibe so well. It's eerie. The super-medicated, middle-aged, "mayonnaise is too spicy for me and Enya is a little too hardcore for my ears" white woman vibe.
Still funny 24 years later. Every year I have to watch it.
Betty is a such a treasure, and still funny as hell.
Best SNL christmas sketch 😂😂😂😂😂
The composure is spectacular!
Show they kept a straight face is amazing....😂
Would love to see Pete Schweddy and his balls back on SNL. It would give Baldwin a break from having to play Trump.
Great way for him to retire it: "Trump" gives up and decides to make confections and his voice.
@@Kendell062 st because they bring back characters for a segment doesn't mean they're screwing with the original. NPR's Delicious Dish has been done with a few guest hosts, like Betty White and John Goodman.
Love both skits - still great still laughing😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
True classics!!!!!
Mmmm, good times
Dusty Muffin! LOL
How the hell were they not absolutely losing it? I would not make it through a skit like this 😂
I needed to hear this . priceless
One of the best SNL sketches of all time. Alec, Ana & Molly are all just perfect.
One of the best skits ever.
Does anyone remember when rose told dorthy that her cupcakes were dry and no one liked her cupcakes 🤣
I saw this when I was a kid. A KID! This is the one sketch I remember from all of SNL! Hilarious!
What's great about these sketches is that once they start, they have nowhere to go but downhill.
Still brilliant after all these years!
My favorite of all time on SNL!
Ana Gasteyer was a rock on SNL, everything she did was great, yet she didn’t get the spotlight that other cast members got. Can’t seem to find any of those great music teacher skits she did with Will Ferrell on CZcams, unfortunately.
Whoever wrote this, the script is absolutely brilliant, and so is the acting. It's incredible they could say all that without the sligthest hint of breaking character!!
A classic!!
The slow burn until the Schweddy punchline that everyone was expecting is just exquisite.
....The Classics
