Can we just take a moment to appreciate the effort this man has just gone through for a 23 minute video!
22:43
I definitely do appreciate everything he does
He does a awesome job I enjoy his videos
Yep well done mate great video, getting a subscription from me you guys should be endorsed by these games, you make the game make sense if you know what I mean
Your patience is inspiring.
Would love if tractors could be impacted by breakdowns.
Reduced engine power, faulty fuel pump, fuel leak.
But... you can only ask for so much at one time.
The tractor actually loses power once with maintanance dropping.
Ye it will make more noise and everything may work slower as usual
I do agree an have equipment an Vehicle's rust too
Exactly 🤝
You can have it !go buy the cheapest tractor you can find! You will have every kind of mechanical and electrical break down you can dream of! Then when you get it all sorted out you can sell it for a nice profit!
I just did a little test. My tractor in much need of repair was struggling up a hill while cultivating. I decided to repair my tractor just to see, and it struggled much less, even hitting top speed sometimes. Flat ground, it worked the same needing repair or not. So it seems that keeping the tractor repaired CAN make a difference. Hope this helps.
I know the video is almost 2 years old, and patches may have changed things since then, but the record needs to be set straight for 2020: Low *vehicle* condition _does reduce HP output_ by quite a bit. That doesn't change the maximum speed of the vehicle, it only changes top acceleration.
This means two things:
1) Your vehicle will struggle more when pulling the same equipment, especially uphill. The top speed may not change, but the vehicle will struggle more to reach that same top speed. If the vehicle is very powerful, you actually might not notice any changes at all.
2) The load on the engine while driving will be higher in all circumstances (even when no implement is attached), resulting in faster condition degrade and higher fuel consumption.
Also, the game code shows that the vehicle will waste more fuel (up to 30% more!) _on top of_ the fuel wasted due to extra engine load.
Keep your vehicles repaired, folks!!
@pieces of8t Washing does not affect performance. But I wash mine too. :P
Finally a farming simulator video that gets right to the point and gives me the information that I need without the person talking for 10 minutes. You have just gained me as a sub 👍
It was said in the Giants pre release stream that vehicles if not maintained will use more diesel.
@Daniels Gaming channel they didnt it does take alot more diesel
Oh whoop, uses more diesel yet still starts up, hits top speed, ect. This is a poorly executed feature
Daniels Gaming channel I have a New Holland 8340 mod, super dirty, 24% maintenance, and it DEFINITELY uses more fuel.
Mr SealyP you are a gentleman and a scholar for doing the work you do
Thanks for your Dedication and the time you put in to give us these Great Guide to's MrSealyp, definitely appreciated.
Thanks Mr. P. Great vid again, never thought the repairs are connected to dirt, but it makes sense... Bless u...
I want to see some crazy realism with the repair. Like when you repair it, it will tell you whats wrong and charge you accordingly. (ie. a shank on a cultivator, tractor oil filters, a sheered bolt, a leaking hydraulic hose.) Further if you repair something, that specific component cannot deteriorate for a certain period of time.
@@MrSealyp oh no way...I'll check it out!
Very useful thanks mate, FYI, Jimbob leased a plough to do his fields and found after a couple of passes that he had slowed to 4mph but was not allowed to repair leased equipment, that's a real pain. Great guide to mate.
also if you make an underpowered tractor do a job its not meant to do, like say for example, make a john deere 6R pull the biggest plow in the game, its durability will crash faster than normal. so its worth the investment to get the right tractor for the right job.
also the john deere's do suffer from wear and tear, however tractors with mud guards have a longer time before the rest of the body gets mud on it which means that the undercarriage, axles, suspension and wheels will suffer the most, if you make any tractor (including john deere) work until its down to its last bar and never clean it, you'll find that the mud gets all the way to the cabin glass and all over the lower body, grill and hitch mounts, once you wash it you'll find that those areas will have much more damage on them, but compared to the undercarriage, axles, suspension, and wheels, the damage on the rest of the body is more conservative. note that damage models for vehicles that have a lot of mechanical parts are different from tractors, like combines for example have internals that get worn and damaged after multiple harvests. this also applies for the harvester headers.
Hi MrSealeyP, Just seen your vid and I must say thank you, it was very informative and useful. I was always pissed off with how quickly the repair costs built up, my setting now on are ALWAYS ON "DIRT OFF"!! In the 798 hours I have played so far, I have always been on FAST DIRT (not really understanding the term until I saw your vid), and subsequently paid enough service/repair costs to last a lifetime! Thanks for your vid, I have learned a lot - DIRT NOW OFF!
Exactly my dads a farmer we were ploughing and at the end the row and the 2 blades had broken and then the bolts holding the hydrolic had completely sheered off clean we couldn't lift the ploug
Fantastic comparisons I really enjoy watching and the narration is great!
It would be nice to have a table of results at the end.
Cheers Stuart
Can I just add, a LOT of people wanted this in 17. I just think only people who are unhappy with the new mechanic are griping. Having said that, you have took the time to test said mechanics and I for one am grateful. So thanks.
spot on! its all about immersion. folks have no idea the kind of maintenance and repairs a farmer goes through on a daily basis. most are not only a farmer but also a technician or they will be poor.
I did notice the repair level of harvesters had effects on their performance. I was using the Ideal harvester and was only harvesting at 4 mph. After repairing, I was back up to the 6-7 mph.
You couldnt be any more detailed and spot on, thanks mate.
I like the damage model in spintires mudrunner, the exshust smoke gets blacker with sparks coming out, and if you hit a solid object the vehicle is dead.
But now there's Snowrunner :D

Another excellent guide! One last point though is what happens when you get a tractor with 30 hours (fully repaired) and a new tractor (also mint condition) and both pull a plow? Is there a speed or power difference?
Thank mate for that one it like all of you guide to do help so keep up the good work
Even with dirt off it still degrades my equipment. I understand this is an old video although poking through the comments i havent seen anyone bring this up specifically. Great content and keep up the great work. Been a fan since 17 and i always enjoy seeing the sealyP sale point on Sus-.
Hey! I got my Case Puma down to its 'worst' possible state and noticed alot of the paint on the steps, linkages & around some of the plastics had worn off. It still got to 32mph but seemed to take longer getting to it
This might be worth a revisit?
I have done some rough testing and I think tractors do loose HP when worn. The problem is it seems to be quite a low amount so unless you have a 150hp tractor pulling a 150hp piece of equipment is barely shows up.
I’m also not sure they have added it to the JD brand. I did some tests with the Fendt Favorit 500 and this seems to slow down once worn out if trying to use equipment at its max rating.
Another great video.
What happens if you don't jet wash the implement but still try and repair it. Will it refuse to repair due to the dirt and if this is the case does it charge you still for the repair. Assuming it does repair with dirt remaining will further use add more dirt and increment the repair situation again.
I suspect the tractor not degrading the same as the implements will be fixed in this or another update otherwise what's the point of having the repair system on tractors.
Thanks for the testing. Looks like slow dirt will be my setting.
Nice testing. I have a tractor with almost 50 hours. Numbers are red and the value was around 13%. I keep up on maintenance. Is there any difference compared to a brand new one? I saw some comments suggesting more fule usage do we know if that is true and is it a lot more? Just wondering why/if we need to replace a tractor?
Thanks for the video. I like the repair feature. Although I wish when you hit something it would cause damage but it doesn't. I grew up on a farm and equipment was repaired constantly. Plowing your going to hit rocks. Hoses fail etc. Thanks for sharing.
I was wondering why my Cherios tasted a bit like Hydraulic Fluid
I've had a seed drill on a tractor with 0 maintenance going uphill at around 3 km/h. Stopped on the slope, repaired the tractor (not the drill), ran it again and it went at 6 km/h. So there does seem to be a power loss with no maintenance on a tractor, but it's probably too small to be noticeable except in situations where you're already lacking enough power.
I have the same experience with my harvester like you👍
Thanks for this video Mr P very informative! Strange that the tractors on 0% condition are still 100% working, I would have expected issues (speed / hp etc). it took you 7+ hours to test that too. I'll not repair my current tractor and see if it has the same 100% working feeling at 0%.
For any PC players reading comments, there is an excellent mod called "Enhanced Vehicle" it tells you the % condition of the attached machinery, Yes I know you can look it all up in the menus, but I never know what is what in that screen.
That was very informative. With the tractor check out fuel consumption from lack of repair.
Would a combine harvest less, like become less efficient I know they slow down, or is the header making that happen ?
Awesome info and time you spent giving us how the game works! Of course another thumbs up!
good info aboud REPAIR & MAINTENANCE . keep up the good work
Dam very interesting welll done for doing the test, thanks for sharing 🚜🚜🚜🚜
You bring up some good points, i think the condition of tractors is based on looks, tractor runs like it got off the factory floor, but to me, i did notice that the paint around the bolts on the 3 point hitc thing looked like it was chipped off, maybe it was the lighting bouncing off the tractor, i don't know, because like you said, if the tractor fires up right away, go top speed, and use implements that goes top speed while in use. But awesome guide to as always.
Thankyou for that .keep up the good work
When those connectors aren’t sealing correctly you already know mr.sealyp has been messing with your tractor, just look for his business card stuck onto some oil
You can also check your vehicle’s durability in the menu that has the map and finances. There’s a list of the vehicles and tools in the menu.
Good video. So did it change after any of the updates since ur video was made?
I would like to know which key to press to run the repair. After, of course, the tractor is in the demarcated space in the workshop. Thanks for the video.
Awesome video!!! Definitely going to turn the dirt down. Thank you sir!!
In menu maintenance page of vehicle overview trigger point around 80 percent for repair icon
Thanks for the video! Does washing your equipment extend its useful life or slow down the clock on needed repairs?
Great video! Very interesting.
Informative and concise. Thanks for sharing.
Now if dirt is the factor that decides how quickly your equipment degrades, can you power wash it to delay/ restart the repair bar?
Great video I was wondering about repair.
Any chance this is an issue with the brand? John Deere could demand their tractors not to show wear and diminish performance. Racing games have the same issue with car companies.
Brilliant work Mr. P!
Hey sir, i know I’m very late but i realized when you drive over grass in your video it flattens.. what mod r u using??
Reading the patch notes for the last PC update, and then investigating further myself, I have established:
- The repairs and maintenance ARE still linked to the cleanliness; however
- Turning the dirt off altogether does NOT turn the repairs and maintenance off altogether, but instead only lowers it to a minimum level.
Therefore, you can still adjust the repair schedule by adjusting the dirt levels, but you can no longer turn off the repairs altogether, like you can the dirt. Hope this helps.
Nice video Mr Sealyp and quite some test ,but i think there's a hiddin thing here same as you see in race games businesses dont want to see dents broken engines or what so ever on there products in games they think its downgrading there product and it is a bit a same everyone knows when you hit something in a game it brakes something and its youre fault or in racegames you or the guy hitting you
Good sir, do we have an update on whether maintenance has an effect on tractors etc?
I noticed with the seeders and planters, if do don't repair them, they tend to start messing some spots with the hired workers! This is just what I experienced on my end of the game so far.
and the seeders when damaged uses more fertilizer (and maybe seeds, not sure for seeds) but it uses more fertilizer for the same field
So if a harvester or a header is damaged does that reduce the yield?
Thank you for this my friend 👍
Bet that took a while, would be interesting to find out if it works different on a another brand of tractor, might take a bit of time on my game to find out
Wondering about if degrading would that mean less crop and profit
What are the little squares that say -5 to -20 when I am trying to by something?
What about the effect of daily running costs if not fully maintained
Great video!
Since you said the John Deeres dont show any physical damage you should test this with another brand
They do as iv done this and seen it .
I had the same thought..maybe it is just a thing with the JD's where the maintenance doesn't effect the uses. I feel that I have seen some game play where a fairly damaged harvester lost HP and wasn't able to harvest very well. ( But that could also very well be the header )
@@codynace912 so is it just a thing with the John Deere series that its not effected?
@@whitebuffalogaming9159 that I'm not 100% for sure. I haven't noticed anything on jd. With they would alter it so we can see
In Real Life the John Deere would catch fire
Perhaps tractor uses more fuel when needing repair?
Thank you for the help.
Bravo! Bravo! Nicely done.
another great vid!
so ... it appears that doing repairs only effects the monetary worth of the tractor
now would it be worth the money to keep it constant good repair up if you intend to sell down the road ... or what if leased?
@@MrSealyp ok good to know thanks
What I also noticed is vehicles take more
Damage when you hire a worker and also takes up fuel but when I do it it doesn’t that’s what I’ve been doing it seems like my John Deere tracker gets damaged faster then any other vehicles in game
Great video MrSealyP
What about when the Value is in Red with a Exclamation point,100% Repaired runs fine 25 hrs on it
i just ran into an issue with my Valtra that i have had since starting my farm (38 days owned 29.8 hours on it atm), it's slower to sow the same field as it used to. Everything is full repaired and the tractor has plenty of horsepower. When i look in the finance menu it does show a red price with "!" in front of it. Can anyone help me with this ? Do i need to sell it ? is it a bug ?
I've not done any scientific measuring but my tractor seems to use a lot more fuel if I let the service level get low.
Kerbo I let it go all the way down and my fuel still won’t use a quarter tank
Patch 1.2 change log mentions this:
[Fixed] Wear speed if washing is disabled (1.2)
I wonder what the fixed wear speed will be?
It’s also speed or load based meaning if you plow at a slower speed it takes longer for it to deteriorate
First allow me to thank you for spending the time ploughing the field to show us this video! It's simply clever idea to do those kinds of guide to, you are helping a lot of people to make this game more understandable and enjoyable, but i really wish to see wear and tear on the tractors engine not starting once the condition is low, hopefully as you said to see this in the new patch or in seasons mod.
Hey Sealy! I have an excellent test for you! You said machinery wear was linked to dirt, so I wonder, what if you washed everything after each use? Would it slow the wear and tear or does it decay at the same rate?
@@MrSealyp Ah, bummer! Thanks for replying!
I keep getting (worker A has stopped-unexpected reason) can't find anything on this issue checked repair for signs in the field, still no luck on the reason even checked updates.
The damaged harvester affect yeald of harvesting ?
It's not longer the case. I appreciate that video is two years old but I have tested this recently on few different tractors. Had Fendt 500+ bhp and when service bar reaches zero the tractor shows signs of wear and tear both on external appearance and pulling performance.
Most of the damage to the John deere was on the three point linkage
Your voice is so calming idk y
I ran my combine all the way to 0% and I was hoping something crazy would happen like it caught on fire or it stoped working , but it’s been 3 hours on the combine since it hit 0% and nothing happened:/
Hello Mr. SealyP!
Very informative video indeed.
You mentioned that the wear & tear is linked to the dirt, but it's actually linked to the dirt setting only - meaning that you can't reduce your maintenance fees by keeping your machinery clean (though that would be really cool, would add more than optical reasons for a pressure washer). Second thing is - if you had been going for a plow with closed blades, you could have told by the blink of an eye on how much color you already had scraped off of the blades what the maintenance condition of the plow would be. Same is true for cultivators and other ground scraping tools. The wear & tear is actually shown with how much color has been scraped off of the earth penetrating parts.
Besides of that ...
Whatever You should choose to do - enjoy doing it and ... Thanks for Sharing!
Well I got fs17 and man fent 1050 needed repairs and when I used a seeder it would just shut off and sometimes not start up first try I think u need to plow long when it's fully damaged next time
Harder to hold a straight line when maintenance is low, and I've noticed worker deviation/overlap are affected.
It seems to me that the back hydrolics where not in place at the last test
I prefer to look at the vehicle menu in the options button (PS4) its the third one in from the left as it shows the wear in percentage and then I can make the decision to repair or not, but I have changed my dirt setting to slow.
Good guide Sealy.
i got that but why do wee need to repair the frontloader and wights on the traktor
great video mrsealyp i find that John Deere needs a lot of maintenance the game even after sowing, plowing and harvesting.
Pharaoh Ptolemy Gaming ya I’ve noticed they break a lot faster then other vehicles
Why when you use the helper on the Haverster it" stops working for unknown reason "
Not sure if you've done one, but could you do a video explaining what the different tyre types do. I've been looking online but I've not found anything at all
They do nothing, they're cosmetic except narrow tires if you have crop destruction on narrow tires won't destroy your crops
Hi love your videos keep up the great work. 😎🇦🇺
I'm thinking I'd like to see Seasons implement a variable dirt, which could be affected by weather/moisture, such that if you're out plowing in less than ideal conditions, then your repair bill will be more frequent than for ideal conditions.
My luck soon as my equipment see the field it breaks down lol I’m glad they have this way more realistic
Nathan Ping my vehicles repair goes way down before I lose even a quarter tank of gas
Great video. On my JD 6R I have over 32 hrs and I’ve repaired it when needed but never washed it. What I noticed in the finance page is the impact on value. It has decreased to 49k dollars and is in red with an exclamation point in the circle, but I can’t find what that really means. Do I need to trade it in? Will it go to 0 value or break permanently?
My New Holland T5 just hit the red exclamation point today after about 30 hours of use. I suspect the costs to repair will rise from now on, and the resale value will drop, but keeping it repaired should keep it useful. I repair it most days along with my Kuhn solid fertilizer after filling a few fertilizing contracts. I've never washed it either, and I notice the FS19 low Dirt setting definitely slows down accumulated dirt compared to FS17. In 17, I could drive 30 feet from the washer across a concrete slab and the tire treads would already be getting dirty again.
@@jeffhale2982 please let us know if you find anything :)
Same here, I have a JD 6M with 40 hrs, never washed and its value decreased to 29K ! (Maybe I could trade for a Gator! lol ) Looks like the maintenance has not an impact in performance but in price. I have a new JCB and it is with 20hrs and I am washing and repairing after each job. The price dropped a lot less in %. I dunno if that will change and drop faster with more hours ...let's see....[EDITED] ok, I did some test and edited my xml to simulate some scenarios, and looks like the dirt and repair is not linked to the price drop.....just the working hours. After you reach a certain amount of hours your vehicle lost a lot of value quite fast. There is kinda a break point with 30 working hours. After that your vehicle begin to lose a lot of value per hr....
@@schiewig can you see any other imoact from the hours? Like more expensive repairs or higher fuel usage
You ever managed to run one out of fuel so its stops or does the bar just give down and it keeps going?
I tabbed out of a game last week and completely forgot about it, when I came back the tractor was out of fuel and wouldn't start at all. I had to bring a fuel trailer TO the tractor in the field.
@MrSealyp the diesel consumption is increased when not repaired
