    Dan John has spent his life with one foot in the world of lifting and throwing, and the other foot in academia. An All-American discus thrower, Dan has also competed at the highest levels of Olympic lifting, Highland Games and the Weight Pentathlon, an event in which he holds the American record.
    Dan spends his work life blending weekly workshops and lectures with full-time writing, and is also an online religious studies instructor for Columbia College of Missouri. As a Fulbright Scholar, he toured the Middle East exploring the foundations of religious education systems. Dan is also a Senior Lecturer for St Mary’s University, Twickenham, London.
    His books, on weightlifting, include Intervention, Never Let Go, Mass Made Simple and Easy Strength, written with Pavel Tsatsouline as well as From Dad, To Grad. He and Josh Hillis co-authored “Fat Loss Happens on Monday.”
    In 2015, Dan wrote Can You Go? on his approach to assessments and basic training. In addition, Before We Go, another compilation akin to Never Let Go became an Amazon Bestseller.
    In early 2017, Dan’s book, Now What?, his approach to Performance and dealing with “life,” became a Bestseller on Amazon. Hardstyle Kettlebell Challenge became available in September 2017, too.

    17 minutes that ought to be studied at every grade level in every school in the world. A truly in-depth and practical way of balancing life to be a healthy person and 3 dimensional Human. Versus the current worship and destructive emulation of EXTREME in every walk of life.
    Bravo.

    I absolutely suck at recovery. 57 and I just got the sleep stuff squared away last year. Now to find some magic pajamas lol. Thanks!

    Todo lists/brain dumps and cold showers have added collective years to my sleep...I owe my bench press PRs to Dale Carnegie and Wim Hof :)

    Great stuff Dan. I hope to see this video get as many views as your other workshops. Wisdom of hard earned lessons here.

    I think you are not that bad about the pyjama. I follow some bio hackers and some of them overdo it, some of them stay to the basics after trying all the fancy stuff (like you too) and even the basic guys often refer to the importance of high quality pyjamas, due to better temperature regulation of the body (makes sense to me, due to wearing this thing between 7-9 hours).

    Somehow I expected walking as one point :D.
    Interesting is the meditation immediatly after training to activate your body for regeneration faster.
    Dr. Hubermann also mentioned that once

      It's a huge part of what we do. If I didn't mention it specifically, everyone I coach uses walking as a foundation.

    I’m going to do a second round of easy strength after 2 years since last time.
    Focus will be chins, clean and press, dead lift. For the clean and press do you still recommend 2x5?? Or is something like 2x3, or 3x3 better for that?

    • @DanJohnStrengthCoach
      @DanJohnStrengthCoach  Před 4 lety +1

      I have an Easy Strength for Olympic lifting on the site you can check out. Play with 5 x 2, 3x3, and 2x 5 and find what works best for you.

    I prefer sleeping when it’s hot and humid 😂

  • @sparkscommunication6430

    For recovery, 5 days a week of your easy strength recommended seems like no recovery between days. Is it because you are doing minimal sets? Would rest ever other day still get great results?

    • @DanJohnStrengthCoach
      @DanJohnStrengthCoach  Před 2 lety

      Parents have no recovery. Lots of people don't get a chance to recover. ES is just a training system and it isn't very stressful. Be sure to read up on it.
