    The method that this annual count is conducted is assinine. Why on earth would you conduct it in the middle of January? During the coldest time of the year? Really? That’s when you have the best odds of homeless people finding their ways indoors during. It makes zero sense and the number is probably way higher than whatever number they end up reporting.

    • @Mike__B
      @Mike__B Před 7 měsíci

      It could have to do with when numbers need to be turned in for grants and whatever federal/state funds, but lets be honest it's San Francisco, not Chicago or NYC, the middle of January temperature aren't that much different than the middle of July, in fact unless there's a particular rare cold front ("Polar Vortex" or some other newly made up weather buzz word) it quite literally never gets below freezing.

    • @eu9910
      @eu9910 Před 7 měsíci

      @@Mike__BSF is one of the few exceptions where the weather isn’t much different in January than say, July. Regardless, the government should recognize the failure in which the time of the year this count is conducted and perform it in the summer and re-arrange the deadlines for all reliant funds/programs this count relies on in order to get a true closer to reality count. Separately, you also have the issue of cities manipulating their counts and the fact that it takes almost 6 months for cities to release those numbers. I refuse to believe it takes 6 months to count numbers. There’s also a video out there from a previous high ranking Los Angeles Homeless Services official admitting that the point in time count is a failure and Los Angeles has manipulated the number in the past to reflect a “lower” number.

The current group of drug users are completely different and don't give a crap about anything except getting high and getting free stuff, you can tell them a needle is full of blood from a guy with Ebola, but it might have a little bit of fentanyl left, and they will shoot it up. Then information and possibly Temporary , financial and housing assistance. Certain individuals might be suffering from mental illness requiring longer term assistance. Also because of the fluidity of our population no state or local government has any hope of solving this. But I believe some government programs have inadvertently contributed to the problem. Instead of individuals growing stronger standing on their own two feet some have grown to dependent on the government and less reliant on themselves.
