- Super Mario is an incredibly fantastic series of games, so I think it's about time I show it some real appreciation. Playing through all these games again was a ton of fun, and it's reminded me that Mario really is one of the very best. So here's my best attempt to show why I love Super Mario! Thanks for Watching!

I love Mario because of his accessibility. You can play any game in the series and get immediately hooked in. There is no big continuity issues, there are no expanded universe to keep track of, there is no way to get lost in these franchise. There is simply fun, more fun and fun on top of fun.

True, Mario is Mario. If you're sitting on the couch and say to your friend "Hey, wanna play Mario?" It's immediately understood what they'll be doing. This excludes the thousands of sideline games that Mario has.

I've often struggled to articulate why Mario games are so good, but you've pretty much hit the nail on the head! Very enjoyable video.
The story of Mario games tends to stay quite simple, but I'm always impressed with how each story is presented differently enough to be interesting

Super Mario is my most favorite video game franchise of all time. I grew up with Mario and still play, and the games are incredibly fun. Some of my favorites for mainline games are Super Mario odyssey, New super Mario bros wii, and Mario galaxy

I think Mario appeals a lot to people with big imaginations. The excitement of what world I would get to play in next awakened this sense of adventure in me as a kid that nothing else really has since. The fact that the characters have such memorable personalities, but you don’t know a lot ABOUT them is so great because it allows the player to fill in the blanks! I always loved making up stories about the Mario cast, Miyamoto really concocted the perfect formula to let my creative lil brain go absolutely ham

Mario is the easiest for anyone to jump into both literally and mentally! It's the best Platformer to play on any Nintendo device he's also a Iconic Mascot!
Both Galaxy games will always be my favorites, mainly for the genius level designs and fantastic music

I love Mario ever since I was 5 and he is my favorite character of all time. The many games that have evolved over time have magnificent changes that just bring out the excitement and nostalgia. Mario is forever THE BEST and the red plumber is the true hero of all time!
I haven't even watched the video yet but I want to say: Mario is such a nostalgic figure to me, even though I'm part of the newer Mario-generation! I grew up with the Nintendo DS being brand new, and my friend has New Super Mario Bros. - I remember always wanting to visit her house to let me play, and finally my parents gabe me my own DS for Christmas, with New Super Mario Bros. of course. It was the first game I ever played intensively, especially because as a non-native speaker I struggled with understanding most games. It was also the first game I completed and to this day it's the game I have completed the most times! I love the Mario franchise, and I've continued to play almost all Mario games that's come out since.
All I want is a remaster of the Mario RPGs for Switch - they were amazing and hold a special place in my heart
Also, the fact that Mario revolutionised both 2D and 3D gameplay AND set the standard for both of them is showing a consistent pattern of innovation and creativity here...

Super Mario Galaxy will always be my favorite Mario experience ever! I love every mario game with all my heart, but I always love going back and playing through galaxy, The experience of going through every level always feels brand new. I really hope Nintendo somehow, someway brings back the kind of level design of Galaxy, but I'm more than happy to get a new 3D Mario that's like Bowser's Fury, ESPECIALLY since it was so so fun to 100% the game. If they created a new 3D Mario designed like Bowser's Fury, that just might be my new favorite Mario game!

Just got around to watching this video. There's a reason why mainline Mario releases are treated like big events. New ones don't come out often, but when they do, they're pretty much guaranteed to be all-time classics. The consistency of this series is simply unmatched, and while some people may not like games like Sunshine as much, you can't deny that they all have a certain appeal and level of charm that few games have been able to achieve.
I love Mario and his music and I agree with you on everything said here.

The story is why I love the Super Mario IP their really isn't anything like it.
Mario is the definition of fun. It's everything I could want from a videogame.
The simple act of moving in these games is just hell a fun. That's why Super Mario is still a part of the gaming-industry.

My first Mario game was New Super Mario Bros on DS when I was just 2. In 2011 for christmas I got my own Wii. I usually stayed with my mom but wouldn't sometimes play on the Wii at my Dad's before he went to Jail. I got MKW with my Wii and that's when I fell in love with Mario games. Not long later I got both Galaxy games and played them both a lot although I didn't beat 1 until last year and I'm actually playing through 2 again now. I wasn't (And am still not) very good at video games so I rarely beat games. But one game I did beat when I was 4 was New Super Mario Bros Wii! My sister helped me but I was still having a blast! I played the NES mario bros games on Wii with my family a lot when I was a toddler because all of the adults had grown up with those games and wanted to share those memories with me. I played sunshine on the wii because my mom had Gamcube stuff from when she was a kid in High School and I hated it! I could never get far in it but when I played it recently I fell in love with it and it's my favorite Mario game. The 3DS and Wii U came out and I wanted them so bad. I asked for a 3DS for christmas one year and my grandma accidentally bought a DSi instead! I was disappointed but I told her I still loved it because I did! I took so many pictures and made so many animations! Later on I did end up getting a 3DS and borrowed New Super Mario Bros 2 from a friend and it was that same friend that had a Wii U I'd play with! I got to play 3D World and loved it. Mario Maker came out but at that point I no longer lived near that friend so I didn't get to play it much and every birthday and christmas I'd hope for a Wii U and in 2016 it was finally gonna happen. But then on Tv when I was talking to my mom about the Wii U a commercial for the switch came up and she asked me if I wanted that instead and I said yes. I thought it looked weird since the controllers came off and thought maybe it would be too gimmicky and stupid and not have fun games but the week it launched she bought the last Switch at target for me and suprised me for it after a day of 3rd grade! I came home and played breath of the wild non stop for months (Although that's another story) and then saw that a new Mario was coming out. I still loved Mario games at this point but Odyssey failed to interest me because I was going through a Zelda phase at the time so I didn't end up playing Odyssey until around 6 months after it's release. My mom took me to a library to get books and saw they had games too. I told my mom I wanted Ocarina Of Time 3D because like I said I had been going through a Zelda phase. The librarian said that someone else had it and the case was just there because they didn't let you take the case. I still wanted a game so I settled on Odyssey. I absolutely loved it and I remembered why I loved Mario so much. In 2019 there was a nintendo direct for February and they started the direct off with something great...Mario Maker 2! I have never been more excited for a game. I watched this trailer over and over and over again. Wouldn't shut up about it in my 5th grade class. I was always nervous when asking for thing's and still sorta am but I had to gain up the courage to ask for Mario Maker 2. When the game was close to release I asked my Grandma if she could get me the game and she said no and it upset me. I understood that she couldn't afford to get it right then but I was still very sad about it. For the next few days I would watch everyone else enjoy the game on CZcams and wished I could play it. At that time we were moving to a new house so one day we went there to paint and my cousin and I helped the adults paint and clean for like 12 hours and as a reward my aunt said she would get me the game that I wanted so I worked extremely hard. We went to Walmart and she told me to tell the employee what game I wanted I said Mario Maker 2 and he grabbed it and handed it to her. I stared at the case the whole ride home and we got Wendy's. I got home and immediately popped the game in and my grandma watched me play it and I told her that I loved it so much. I played that game the whole summer. I made a new friend in that neighborhood and he was 8 at the time and I was 11. We would explore abandoned places in our neighborhood and play video games together all the time! This was one of the happiest times of my life. But then Covid happend. I stopped playing outside as much some of our other friends moved away and I stopped playing Video games. Something I always loved just wasn't fun anymore. I sat inside and watched TV alone all day every day. My mom had really lost control of herself and started having drug induced outbursts. I was surrounded by drug addicts, violence, sex, and loneliness. My grandma made me text my grandfather one day because we hadn't spoken to each other in a long time and he asked if I had a phone and he was shocked when I responded no. He bought me a phone and I started watching youtube again. My interest for video games slowly came back. I used discord to talk to people and make new friends. I spent the whole summer on discord and playing Pokemon. One day I was watching youtube and my aunt came and took me to her house. I haven't seen my mom since. I did come back to the house and my Switch and 3DS were nowhere to be seen; stolen. My grandma had no idea where they were but it was obvious my mom was responsible for it. I was disappointed and felt dumb for leaving my consoles behind but I couldn't have known I wouldn't be living at that house anymore. After a 6 month long process of CPS being super slow I turned 13 and I was supposed to live with my grandfather. There is this wonderful person named Lacey who was like a second mom to me. Did you really think I could go a whole summer with just discord? She would take me out with her and her son's all the time and treated me as if I was her son. My grandma couldn't afford to do that for me but Lacey took me places all the time. Whenever I wasn't with her I had to be alone with only discord but it was a lot easier to deal with loneliness because of her. She was very sad I was moving away so as a goodbye gift she got me a switch lite. It wasn’t a normal switch but that is probably the most surprising gift I've ever gotten. I appreciated it so much. Without that switch lite I wouldn't have gotten into video game again! 3D All stars came out and for my 13th birthday I had a huge Spongebob themed party at an arcade and all of my friends and family were there and I got Super Mario 3D All Stars. Best birthday ever. I beat every game in 3D all stars (Sunshine and Galaxy for the first time cuz I beat 64 on the wii) and once again revived my love of Super Mario games. I still use that switch lite to this day and still play Mario. I am 14 now and thing's are going better. Still challenging but better nonetheless. I can't wait to see what else Nintendo has in store for us.

Very small detail but I smiled when you mentioned DDR Mario Mix at the beginning of the video. That game has its niche but it was a big part of my childhood that can easily end up overlooked by the likes of Mario Kart and Mario Party.
I love Nintendo especially super Mario, he was my entire childhood and I cannot stop buying their products
New Super Mario Bros. on the DS was the first Mario game I ever played, and it really hooked me on the series. I think Super Mario 3D World might be my favorite because I have a lot of fond memories playing through it with my sisters.

My favourite is probably super Mario 3d world. The music and environments just feel so magical. Plus I remember when my older sister and I played through the game and we both had so much fun. That might be my favourite thing about Mario! Playing with others feels so easy and fun. When I was younger my brother and sister and I played New Super Mario Bros. Wii every chance we could and had so much fun!
I loved Mario so much. I remember my sister and I would go home and rush to the Wii console, just to play Super Mario Galaxy. BTW that's my favorite Mario game.

To everyone saying Super Mario is a series you love and hold so close to your hearts, Please listen to Break Free (Lead the Way) again and Instead of thinking of it as a corny love song between Mario and Peach or Pauline, think of it as a love song between the Series and You, the Player. It has references to the Entire Series, to give a few examples:
-Kick up the Wall (Wall Kicks from Mario 64)
-Trippin’ through 2 Dimensions (the shift from 2D to 3D in the series)
-Up on the moon we’ll twirl and swoon (I think of this as a Mario Galaxy reference, since the main attack is a twirl)
-Follow the Brick Path straight to my heart, And we’ll grab the flag together the fireworks are gonna start (Super Mario’s first adventure and Probably one that made you fall in love with the series)
This is only a Few and I recommend you listen to the song for the others, I don’t want to spoil them. I’m not gonna lie, I teared up when I read the lyrics this way, Truly a Beautiful Series

The most impressive thing is how he managed to mantain the same quality and status he's had for over 35 years... Well there was Sunshine (I love sunshine but quality and popularity wise it was the lowest point in the series) and his sports game have been rather disappointing lately, but It's incredible how the series has had the consistency it had throughout the years

I love super Mario because it has no dialogue or text, which made it accessable to me as a non-English speaking child, speaking a language neglected by Nintendo even though it is spoken by more people than Japanese, german, Italian, …..

W video I've been playing super Mario for 15 years now and I've collected every home console from the SNES upwards and I can say that mario games are fantastic and whoever says otherwise is brain-dead because not only is it a fun single player experience it is fun for multiple people at whatever age I'm now 19 and I still love the new releases to this day.

I hadn't played a mario game for years, then at some point I found my old 3DS which had "New super mario bros 2" There was just this sense of pure bliss and I don't know why, anyway that one is my favorite because I remember the sheer amount of coins in that one, 10/10 would hear coin sound again
p.s. I homebrewed that 3DS due to Eshop's death
My ideal 3D Mario would be Bowser's Fury + Odyssey controls - mandatory motion controls actions.
My biggest pet peeve is the Triple Jump in Mario Odyssey. It's so dang low. I mean, it sure does help with height but it feels like Mario has been weakened too much. Of course I understand why they'd nerf the long Jump because hey you have new never-before-seen supportive moves you can use to get to a platform without the regular long way. Whatever. That dosent mean Mario odyssey is bad. Mario just skipped leg day too many times. I've been through mario 3d land, my first super mario game and probably the first 3d platformer I completed. Music to my ears. Creative and thoughtful design. I really love the concept of dire dire docks and the closed world of 3d land and 3d world. Heck you know what, the design of whomp's Fortress and bob-omb battlefield are enough to inspire someone. I think it's save to say the mood of Mario is what makes you keep on playing. It dosent matter if you find the game easy or hard...You'll just come back for more cause the mood it has gives a smile to your face or at least a good vibe to your head. Mario is the series that gives even when it shouldn't be giving.

I’m not saying the games aren’t fun but why do people like Mario as a character. He’s literally a middle age man who’s fat and is tryna save a princess from a kingdom he’s not even from. Who looks way younger then him. My point is why is his character so appealing. Like when I see link from zelda I’m like oh he’s so cool. But when I see mario it’s like I mean I love the games but I wouldn’t ever wanna be mario. Idk
Those aspects are what make Mario appealing to people which is that he is “just a guy”. He isn’t the conventional tall, attractive, and muscular hero with a cool name, he is a short chubby Italian plumber simply named Mario, and despite all of that he is a hero anyway and still is able to help people. He is an everyman and an underdog who became a hero even with how unremarkable his appearance is. That’s what makes him unique from other heroes.
I hate people calling him "Fat" why not just called him a "ltalian plumber".

What I'm really talking about there is the main playthrough of a Mario game, getting just the amount of content you have to so you can beat it. Obviously getting 100% completion will feel like padding in some ways, but that's completely optional and not required. Whether or not Mario Odyssey has filler content is totally up to the player if they seek it out, and it doesn't force it upon you. You can beat the whole game in just a couple hours because of how fast the pacing is, and that's what I'm referring to.
@@NintendoHero now lets be real here, even if you beat the game in just a couple hours, you would have to go out of your way to not engage with repeated content in that game, which makes it so deliberately misleading of you to refer to it like that that unless all stars aligned in a comiscal proportion and your first playthrough of smo was genuenilly free of padding then you would have had the decency to take your rose tinted glasses off and admit this game is the textbook example of shamelesly reusing content and your flat out lying lol (a phenomenon not unknown of basically every single super mario game)
