I have a grainy old photo of Malcolm Wilson's 6R4 going into the Albert Dock for the overnight halt. It was taken on the new camera I got for my 18th birthday. Thanks for the happy memories.
The beginning of the end for the RAC rally,im glad i have had my life to see the best time of rallying.
This comment is like how the country is going now😢
down the drain is where everything has gone.@@stuartnaylor6472
Perfect lockdown entertainment. Thank you.
Thanks for uploading these rallies,a truly golden age of rally and those group b cars where just amazing to watch and hear. 👍🏻
A true classic - live coverage of Group B monsters on a tricky Mickey Mouse stage. Mustve seen this a 100 times over the years and still love it.
I was there! Aged 2 1/2! Thanks Dad!
Good to hear Tony Mason again.
oh lord that intro
thank you so much for sharing all those videos, you are a legend
You're welcome.
Thanks for uploading these!!
What gorgeous!, what agile and manageable was Peugeot 205 with asphalt tires on "mickey mouse" stages, even today I never tire of seeing it.
Ford RS 200 progressed well, it's a pity not to have been able to show something more, very beautiful as well.
From Lancia Delta S4 I always will prefer for its original sound, so personal, with volumex compressor, it reminded me much American army Jeep Willis.
I will always remember these images that I saw so many and many times on VHS tape back in that years 86, 87, 88...
For me the disappearance of Group B was a great loss for the rally show, even though they were dangerous cars, I think they could have continued competing with a reduction in power and safer bodies, no kevlar, with more forceful roll bars, and a higher minimum weight (above 1,200 kgs.) and deformable and fireproof fuel tanks (which there were) placed in safer places.
Fantastic display venue for these WRC legends. Thank you! They've certainly made a porridge of it. I'm 40 now living in the US and have always been only able to appreciate these cars through mid90's and up video games. Wish I could have watched coverage of the brief group B era in real time. I was fascinated by WRC cars sine the first time I saw it on cable TV.
Thanks for the uploading these old rally vids have kept me entertained during these lockdown days I was two years old this event 😂
Thanks alot! Much apreciated in these Times ✌️
Thank you for this stuff.
Thank you for videos, great to watch, subscribed
You're welcome. Hope you enjoy the content.
Happy Days, I was at Sutton Pk too! Have a lot of this on VHS but not so easily accessible these days. Thanks for sharing.
Sadly the last year with those Group B monsters. :D Some serious fun watching! Thx for the uploads
❤Very Nice, Thanks!😊👍
finally the RAC rally report with that iconic music sample
I know. I get a copyright claim warning in every video that has it. That'll be the majority of uploads in the coming weeks, for starters!
@@VHSRallies shame because i think people remember the show as much for that music as for the rallies it showed
@@VHSRallies MR NEIL FITZGERALD IS THERE ANY MORE BBC1 RALLYCROSS FROM BBC1 GRANDSTAND ANY MORE OF BBC1 AUSTIN ROVER SPEEDSTAR FROM BBC1 GRANDSTAND FROM MR NEIL FITZGERALD PLEASE
Neil, there's definitely no more of Speedstar. It only happened once and I have already uploaded that. As for rallycross, this is a rallies channel - but occasionally I may upload little bits of rallycross if someone supplies it for conversion. I think I have the 1987 Rallycross GP knocking around somewhere - may get that bashed into shape in the coming days, although like most of the rallycross, it's already here on CZcams anyway.
Music name
Fantastic era, lucky enough to see group b monsters at chatsworth years back what a treat to the ears especially steve perez in his lancia stratos
Top drawer. Thanks.👌
Good old times
I loved these daily reports, couldn't wait to see them come on the TV... before the days of digital, when you had to WAIT for the broadcast, and no rewind unless you stuck a VHS in. 1985 and 86 I managed to get to some of the events on leave, including this one in Harrogate. Should have worn a bright orange coat :)
The second year I hired a video camera, which were huge back in the day, put on my dad's Berghaus coat (£200!) and then blagged security that I was press from Yorkshire TV. LMAO I got into some great spots unchallenged with my mate pretending to be the rigger. If anyone approached us I would shout 'Battery pack!" or " get me the long range lens man! "
Oh how we laughed in the pub that night.
Last RAC for Group B .. I think I was in Sutton Park this year 🤔
My very first rally,WOW.
Barrie Gill was mistaken. That was a David Sutton-prepared Sport Quattro which Hannu Mikkola had used in the British Open Championship in 1986, with 440 bhp.
hh boy Brilliant quality Better than My original Tape i Got THANKS Guys Happy memories Tc
Thanks for the positive feedback, Tony. All of my recordings go through post-processing to try to clean up the image as best as possible, so it's good that you like the quality.
Love it absolutely love it
I went to trentham gardens, tatton park and my local, knowsley safari park
tremendous accellerations !!
the decisions that killed rallying as a mass spectator sport, many still turn up to watch it but not in the numbers of the 1980s, it was as big as the football world cup, people who had never been interested in motorsports knew the names of the drivers and the cars, 205 sales went ballistic because of the rally cars success,
The intro music is Propaganda - Duel. As soon as I heard that intro it took me back to the 80s
wow, I even got the name of the band who made the theme tune right!
I liked the crazy commentary on the last upload
Crazy?
VHS Rallies in the last upload at 38:54 the commentary went slow and then fast . Was quite funny
@@Chris391971 The previous version of this? Please clarify - that was a glitch and I hoped I'd managed to get rid of it!
VHS Rallies the last one of this about 3 months ago
Phew. I think this version is better quality and doesn't have the sound glitches. I lost several weeks of workflow trying to get to the bottom of it. Turns out the lossless compression was maxing out the CPU on the sacrificial laptop I use for capturing the raw AVIs.
Give the modern WRC cars 550 bhp. With the massive difference in safety and crowd control surely it could happen. 🤔
21:36 Great supercharger to turbo transition audio
"A touch of the Andy Dawson" 😂 Harsh but fair and just as quick
I love that the pace car is a Sierra Estate... quite the worst handling car I ever drove!
👍😊👏
Harold Demuth in a sport quattro. Only 170 bhp according to the non Mason. Brilliant!!
Absolutely love the wonderful ye olde english sarcasm the whole way through also. Very funny!!
Sad to see both Vatanen and Toivonnen not present. Always wondered Vatanens thoughts on Toivonnens death and how Lancia did the family wrong.
How did Lancia wrong toivonnens family out of curiosity
@@garyjohnston5740 After Toivonnens death Lancia sent a contract to his widow to sign stating Lancia cleared of wrongdoing for his death so his remaining salary could be paid out. Amongst other things. There is a Finnish documentary floating around YT that goes into more detail.
@@sporkybutterz that's awful, but surely a decision for the authorities and not her? How callous.
@@rowgli I also believe that Henri, having flu symptoms during the Tour de Corse, wanted to retire himself from the event; however, he was pretty well ordered to drive or lose his contract...
👍
AAgh cutting away from the times!
I think that course car needs more lights on the roof 😉
Thanks again, full results for this stage are here www.ewrc-results.com/results/8674-lombard-rac-rally-1986/?s=35475
www.ewrc-results.com/ is an excellent resource.
Agreed!
The commentator who's not Tony Mason was talking complete dribble. He's nearly as bad as Murray Walker lol.
Barry Gill is the non - Mason 👍
czcams.com/video/imEDcE1du4Y/video.html pure Alan Partridge moment
These car should never of been banned. They should of been modified to make them a little safer with safer fuel tanks.Crying shame!!
The music is 'duel' by 'propaganda'...
Thank CZcams
