  • In this tutorial I’ll be demonstrating how you can create a low poly portrait from any image using Adobe Illustrator. This is a neat little trick that you can use to create some cool vector designs. I’ve actually used this effect myself for my own profile pictures and avatars.

I'm so happy you're back on the Illustrator wave.
You made get into designing and I started on Inkscape but then I found it too limiting for what I wanted to do, been using Illustrator ever since

Hey Nick! Do you know if Illustrator has the ability to sample an average area of color similar to Inkscape? When making low poly portraits, I tend to use Inkscape more because of that feature. Great tutorial regardless!

Not that I know of. I'll check that next time I open it up though.

I looked your question up, and I found this answer on StackExchange:
"I don't think theres something like that on illustrator but you can always make a small mosaic and use one of the colours you get: Go to: Object>create an object mosaic and choose a small number (2 or 3) If the option is unavailable go to Object>rasterize and when the object is rasterized you'll be able to make a mosaic."
Not exactly what you were looking for, but it might help if you haven't found a solution yet.
