CLIP DESCRIPTION:
At the end of the big game, Texas State fakes a field goal to go for a touchdown and win the game.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
After a recruitment scandal, a struggling college football team is forced to turn to a rag-tag group of misfits in this sports comedy. It seems that Texas State University's football team has relied on some rather unorthodox -- and illegal -- methods to gain players, resulting in the disqualification of most of the team's stars. The desperate coach (Hector Elizondo) must rely on the school's actual students, a motley crew of unlikely characters that includes a female place kicker and a quarterback in his thirties. Unexpectedly, however, the coach discovers that the passer still has a heck of an arm, and suddenly the team again has a chance. The expected comic complications and obvious bits of slapstick follow as this band of eccentrics struggles to find a way to victory, resulting in a familiar reprise of a well-worn storyline.

I always thought "Mr. Blake. He'll never touch you." with the following handshake was one the most badass scenes from any movie.
I consider it a crime that it wasn't left in this clip.
N he didn't touch him he SMASH HIM
I like the winning dance sin bad n the other guy do
And the most badass give away for a fake PAT
The other guy? You mean Jason Bateman?
Mr. Blake. He’ll never touch you. I played center in highschool. I felt that. Captain of the team baby.
I prayed center when we played football at school lunches. I was also put to face the center of the opposing team when in defense. They tried everything to stop me. Including putting a rather attractive girl they knew I liked hoping for hesitation...I steamrolled the poor girl. On the field gender doesn't matter.
Best episode of Quantum Leap ever.
Why didn't Sam stay in that reality?
Kept on waiting for AL to show up or Sam to leap
"Uh Ziggy says you can't leap until Texas state has an undefeated season."
This is part 2 of a Quantum Leap "to be continued" episode.
In the first part, Blake originally left to go to college at 18, and the farm went under. So he stayed to keep the farm afloat. With the farm saved, he went to school to save Texas State from the Dean.
Omitting Manumana "The Slender" telling Paul Blake, "He'll never touch you..." is an unforgivable oversight.
And Lucy kiissing Manu
I honestly cannot comprehend how good a single win like this would feel.
Especially when it's the *only* win all season against the number one team.
I love a lot of music played in movies like this.
The massive amount of blood that comes out of his mouth when he gets nailed at the end. I always remembered that.
+Deophite18 guess he shouldn't have insulted the guy at bar huh lol
Absolutely loved that hit! That’s how you keep your quarterback clean!
He's gonna have a concussion and then dementia from all the brain damage. Ah, Football.
Manu did the “Earl Thomas on Mason Rudolph hit” on that guy.
And he broke off the facemask.
I love how the last thing said was, " IT'S CHARLIE BANKS!", and just pure joy after that. Classic, one of the best sports films.
Call back to the beginning of the film:
Assistant Coach (paraphrase) "Well, why do you want him"
Coach Gennaro "Because he didn't quit"
@@nathanmiller8213 heart of a lion
And the legs of a chicken
love the flashback scene of number 88 back on the farm
Me too. It reminded Blake
Put it right in his chest
Made the scene more epic for sure, one of the forgotten great sports movies from the 90's. Used to be on TV all the time when I was a kid
absolute goosebumps
Like Manu said…. Mr. Blake he’ll never touch you.
What an underrated movie, and what a great scene!! Manumana the slender!!
One of the best dialogue exchanges in this movie is just before this segment:
"How many time outs we have left?"
"Three."
"Can we take 'em all now?"
I remember watching this movie when I was a young boy AND LOVED IT; and still do.
Classic.
One of the best football movies of all time
Best block in the history of FOOTBALL!
One of the best football movies and most people have never even heard of it. Gotta love Sinbad.
Yeah this movie and the program is the best
@@josephwilliams2006 "Eat whatever the hell you want, Andre".
Gotta love Kathy Ireland too
How the hell do you know who has or has never heard of this movie.
I like the winning dance
This movie is still awesome nearly 30 years later.
Why is this movie soo underrated?? Thought it was pretty good
Because they didn’t have a more famous cast that Hollywood loves.
Mister Blake.... they'll never touch you ! -Manumana
Manu was my favorite on this movie
@Dark Demonik Yeah, now it would be called targeting and he'd be ejected from the game.
I still get chills every time... with the handshake before going into the trenches !
Manu---Runt of the litter. Hate to see your sisters.
@@j-fpilote1576 Me, too.
Not only is this movie excellent, I love the music from it too.
Bill Conti is a legend. Also did the Rockys' & Karate Kids'
Also the winning dance
Bill Conti is a legend. There is a medley suite on CZcams now if you look it up. It’s got the main theme, reporting for training, Andre’s astronomy class, thinking about quitting, and the final game.
Blake doesn't want to go for win then the center tells him MR BLAKE HE WILL NEVER TOUCH U!!!! LOVE IT
Me and a friend of mine used to always say that Featherstone only catches two balls and now he’s drawing double coverage.
He became a threat.
You're hurt.
You're tired and bleeding
I'll make you a promise
When we get to the end zone, you're not going to feel a thing
RIP Robert Loggia
I used to say "Blue 42" whenever I was throwing a post or pass of any sort deep when I played Qb in HS. Good times. Sure love the music & the message that it's never too late
Every time I saw this movie, that song was stuck in my head for weeks and weeks. Well here's to it being in my head for another bunch of weeks and weeks.
Bill Conti can do that you. Man's a legend.
In the movie OST is called "The big ending" an very accurate name.
Manu got his revenge for being called a "fat buddha" with that block.
If you don't like this movie, you don't like football.
Amen
What if I don’t like football and I love this movie? Lol
He could of went for 3
@One guy on CZcams on a extra point? That's not how it works.
My favorite college football movie
Love when rob Schneider starts drinking champagne lol just pure awesome!!
It’s the music that makes this scene (and movie) so great.
The center hit that linebacker so hard...
how many timeouts do we have left?
three
can we take them all now?
😂
The movie is cheesy but this is by far one of the best endings to a sport movie ever. Unfortunantly they didn't include the part where the Offensive Lineman gives Blake a staredown and says "He won't touch you".
One of the best lines, in ANY movie. Then, proceeding to keep that promise, knocking off the face mask clean off.
You'll have to buy the book for that 😄
This is the best football movie ever there has never been anything like it
For some reason at 1:53 I expected to see the Quantum Leap Flash after Sam Beckett helped them win the game
I expected to see Al the hologram that's always there with him
This is like the best comment ever lol
Hoping that his next leap would be the leap home.......
@@kaivaughn3782 following this he jumped 150 years into the future as Captain Jonathan Archer.
"Uh Ziggy says you can't leap until TSU has an undefeated season."
No love to Popcke who through a hellacious diving block to give Blake those key few seconds to find Charlie Banks.
Two most satisfying things in this clip both come from Manu: Flat-top getting laid out and his mouth spewing blood.
Manu finally getting a kiss from Lucy and passing out.
To be honest, any guy getting a kiss from Lucy would pass out.
RIP to Hector Elizondo and Robert Loggia.
I think Hector Elizondo is still alive
@@nathanmiller8213he still is
Malu’s block is my FAVORITE football movie play
Charlie Banks just became a football hero!
charlie banks caught blakes first pass in the movie.....and the last pass as well....
That hit by Manu at the end was awesome...it was nice to see flat top get annihilated. 🏈🙂
Still watching in 2022!!
Too much awesomeness in less than 3 minutes. Mr. Blake, he'll never touch you, the call back from the opening scene where Blake's throwing to the #88 dummy, and the cool sound fx of the ball and the catch, the phenomenal score by the legend Bill Conti, the WR who couldn't catch is now a threat and being double covered, the slow-mo fake punk TD throw, the cut to the guard laying out the LB just in time. All awesome.
"Mr. Blake... he'll never touch you."
The Feels. Every damn time. How it checks in on each character to resolve their own personal struggle in that one moment. And that damn music that could push an army.
hehe, late 80's and early 90's movies where you get the end of the movie WIN montage!
This movie was way back 91!!
"There's an open man in the end zone! It's . . .
. . . . . .
. . . CHARLIE BANKS!!!"
Most underrated sports movie. Good lord this movie is great.
God what a gem of a movie!
Mr Blake, he'll never touch you.
I know it's cheesy but I always liked this movie. This and the program were the football movie go too's
before the fake, key line.... Mister Blake: they'll never touch you ! -ManuMana
"He'll never touch you"
"Mr Blake, he'll never touch you..."
i keep rocking this movie in 2016!!
"Mr Blake he will never touch you"
oH i remember the days when they filmed this at University of North texas.. it was so much fun.
Who do I have to kill to get the Bill Conti score to this movie?!
If memory serves me right, the guy who catches the pass, was the ONLY original member of the team who was part of the scandal .
Yes. He never played that's why he's still on the squad.
Yes. He never got a minute of playing time.
"...was even left off the roster."
"Why keep him?"
"Because he wouldn't quit"
@@nathanmiller8213 he has the heart of a lion.
1:54 Neil deGrasse Tyson in their university days :D
What a devastating hit @ 1:01
I love when he's said he will never touch u Mr blake
Going for the win! Great football movie, one of my favorites
one of my favorite sports movie endings - just classic, espec with the music, facial expressions, celebrations, awesome all around!
The score in this movie is awesome
Manu Manu THE SLENDER👍🏿
Who does his "I'm gonna go out there and get some poi" sack celebration dance.
My best friends and I dud that danced when we sacjed QB's. It was tiuch football and we were literalky skender guys. I was a total beanpole growing up.
Sam can leap now, lol.
Uh...Ziggy says you can't leap until TSU has an undefeated season
Every year needs a Charlie banks 💪
Where in the world can I find a copy of the soundtrack to this movie!?
Amazing cast they all delivered.
And then Manu went to prison for murder. It looks like the dude he hit was puking up organs.
Self defense Flattop was kijeky going to kill Blake. Olus all plsyers on the field do have a bit of a pass because there is a possibilty of death or serious injury being possible in most combat sports
Well shot, good cinematography scene. The football play realistic, not nonsensical. A play like that can happen on the last play of the game.
Flattop took 10 seconds to get near Paul Blake but still got smash!!🤔😂🤔🤔😂😂🤔
One of my favorites
00:55 what Tom Brady sees
Me and my best friend always did the dance Sinbad was doing whenever we scored and Manu's sack celebration dance when we took down the QB
Me too still do it to his day
During lunches we played co-ed, iron man full contact football.
Australian rules
Such a convoluted but amazing play.
Not really it was a fake field goal.
@@RJ_MacReadyfake extra point.
Yup. It's a chill moment.
This movie, replacements, the program all time greats
That block was better than Michael Oher "to the bus" block"
I love the music so much in this scene. There’s no record of any stand alone music from this movie. Which is sad because it’s actually a huge influence on my Football themed metal album
Bill Conti did the soundtrack. The song is called The Big Ending. Hard to find though
@@Bot_967 thanks
Manumanu’s hit woulda been a lifetime ban in today’s football
No he wouldn't . It was a clean ,legal hit
@@robertrodriguez787 fast forward 3 years later after this comment and OP is correct. It would have been targeting a defenseless player and the 2 point conversion would not stand...retry extra point from the 15 yard line
It's amazing how many of the Texas State Armadillos transferred to Eastern State to play for James Conn
This is the most underrated sports movie of all time
Why can't we buy the score to this movie anywhere?!?!
I've been saying that for years, it's borderline criminal!
Nevermind... It's sold out. Fuck you Bill Conti.
One of the better "sports underdog" movies out there. When coach Rig suggested they add Lucy to the team, he says, "there's no rule that a woman can't play college football", I especially appreciated that he didn't call her a "girl".
lmao i love how the ref was trying to call it all xD
Que BUENA pelicula
I feel like this is why most teams don't submit to the "pick your guy up, throw him behind you, and chase the ball carrier" style of defense.
I said once “ life is what you make of it” I’ll never say that ever again. I only said it once.
Classic movie
This and the program, sick
Same guy directed the football scenes for both movies! And also for Any Given Sunday, Friday Night Lights and the Replacements - Allan Graf.
Funny you mention, Alvin Mack and Lattimer are both in this movie too lol
That turf field was something serious his whole leg was banged up
One of the best football movies of all time
where is Sinbad's "we're gonna partay" locker room scene???
thats what you call clutch!
If you look closely after Lucy fakes the kick she goes for a block afterwards.
I just watched this movie on tv like 5 minutes ago
I just watched it a hour ago.
I wanna see this movie
What's the song that plays when he throws the ball to 88 and they win its so epic
What would we do? Oh oh oh.
Damn...that guy was wide open for like 10 seconds? Who were they playing the Raiders?
Or my Skins
Greetings. One hell of a hit.
