I promise you the most cost effective way to get a clearance is through the military. The U.S. defense budget will throw money at you to get one if you work for them as long as you have an okay credit score and aren’t a convicted felon

Question: if someone has a decent credit score but was convicted of a non-violent felony over 12 years ago thats already been expunged, can you still receive a clearance from the military working as a civilian? Im currently a cybersecurity student getting a bachelors in computer science, I was hoping to work for either defense contractors or NIWIC Pacific. Is that even possible?

@@princessknowled for one , if you want to work for a government defense contractor in any capacity whether is be cyber security , intel, finance , etc. having the clearance already would put your resume on top of the stack because the company you are applying for doesn’t have to pay for someone to do a background check on you. Those background checks can go from $10k-20k . Companies like that they don’t have to spend that money and you got yours paid for by the department of defense so it’s no cost to you.

Hey! While I'm not an expert in security clearances, having a clean record and meeting the eligibility criteria generally increase your chances of obtaining a secret clearance. It's important to be honest and provide accurate information during the clearance process. You may want to consult with experts or government agencies for specific advice. Good luck!

Plenty of similar stories for the tech sales bootcamp and other roles as well.
These bootcamps give you the training, education and help that you need. So a tech specific degree helps, but is unnecessary. As long as you do your part and the better you do your part, the faster they can help you break into tech.

"Felon" is just a word governments make up. Every prisoner held hostage in prison in North Korea or Saudi Arabia, or under the Nazis when the Nazis were in power in Germany in the 1930s, or in Russia (now or when it was the CCCP), or in the USA, or under the Viet Cong in Vietnam, is, IF THE GOVERNMENT SO CHOOSES TO DEFINE THEM, a felon.

If it is a violent crime you will not be able to obtain a clearance unless you get it reduced, wiped off, or have some paperwork. Other crimes are not as bad, you will have to wait a few year to get it. Try to get a twic card or rapid gate card and if you get one of those you should be good to go

Also keep in mind people a company must be willing to spend close to 300,000 dollars in order for you to obtain top secret clearance. That’s the big one you want. That is also not mentioned in this video. So that’s why they usually go for people from the military who already have a TSSC

You literally are not thinking of other aspects of why working for the Federal Government such as job security and retirement. My late Mommy retired from her 32-year Federal Government career. I had learned what that looked like as I grew up.

Contractors are atleast rewarded for their hard work and effort which is why the high salaries and many agencies outsource to contractors.
