Well how time flies. That was circa 1970 and now it is May 2020.That makes it a half a century. When I recall the year 1970 I remember with fondness my late mother calling and yelling at me during the weekends especially,"Yau go to the grocery shop to get me a small tin of condensed milk."We then had the "Susu Chap Junjung" and it cost 55 cents in 1970. Telok Anson(now renamed Teluk Intan)was a sleepy hollow town fifty years ago as me and my family had to wait for those buses to arrive to take us home at a rakety shack just in front of the playground now long gone. The Telok Anson of half a century ago was so vastly different from that at present. Then in 1970 we do not have a main bus station. But my happier lives were spent in Telok Anson until we left that town for Ipoh in 1972. In 1970 the Chinese were mesmerised by the swordsplay epic movies of Wang Yu and his movies "One Armed Swordsman" and "The Return of One Arm Swordsman" was always sold out in advance in ticket sales. In 1970 it was very rare for young Malay girls to spot the Tudung as even in schools they wore the same school uniform as that of the other races. It was true harmony then. Yes TV shows like Night Gallery" "Monster from Outer Space","Banana Split","Time Tunnel"," Combat" were some of the popular TV shows in 1970.We only had two channels in black and white. But in 1970 as a ten year old kid I was fortunate enough to watch the 1970 Thomas Cup final between Malaysia and Indonesia at the Stadium Negara and also the 1970 World Cup football matches in Mexico. Yes trishaw riders were a sight to behold in 1970 when I was in Ipoh.I saw so many trishaw riders waiting for their clients in front of the Ipoh's central market and the famous Emporium supermarket. Yes life in 1970 was simple but the present generation may not have known what then life was half a century ago.But I love those smells and scent of the Telok Anson in 1970 as well as in Ipoh.If given a chance I would turn the clock back to 1970.

I am so surprised and thank the contributor of this video. Basically every Malaysian do not have video recording at that time as Malaysians are not advanced in technology yet. We only have a simple old fashion camera. I am near 60 now (2024). In 1970 I was in Kulai, Johor, followed by where my late dad worked (he worked in managing a palm oil plantation). With my late father's work, we traveled to Kulai-Johor, KL, Kemaman-Terengganu, and Kuantan-Pahang. I felt the calmness in those days, and at that moment I was only 6 years old. I still recall how people wear, talk, and are not like people now. Every movement in their daily task was at a slow pace, in the sundry shops, coffee shops, the market, basically everywhere. The Malaysians were not influenced by the outside world or political issues back then. People looked so innocent, they lived and moved forward humbly. The Malays are friendly, sweet, and humble, i love their local food is yummy, the Chinese only think about business, they speak in their own native dialects most time (not much of Mandarin), and the Indians are nice and friendly too, i love the smell of the Indian rice and their curry. I have all races of friends. We only speak Malay and English while communicating. By the way, I am from the Chinese lineage.
Thanks, bring back the nostalgic memories and scenery, i was 13 years old then! How wonderful we had friends.from malays, indian, singh playing football, gasing, flying kites and etc, etc,,, those were the wonderful days

Susah sangat nak jumpa orang yg berat badan berlebihan. Seperti tiada langsung. Sentiasalah bersyukur.
Orang dulu byk mkn real food... pas tu kerja kuat kluar peluh padan dgn mkan byk... orang skarang mkn byk smua mkanan y lalu depan mata, fast food... lama2 makin gemuk xlarat nk jalan... kerja mengadap komputer, exercise xnak... pastu nk kurus mkn produk kurus... klu xkurus salahkan ubat kurus...
Dulu masa komunis, mereka rebus ubi keladi, dan ubi kentang dan makan. Lepas itu kerja keras spt potong kayu untuk jadikan sumber api utk memasak. Dulu takde tong gas. Masa dulu tak pernah tengok orang gemuk.
