I get drunk alone every Saturday and watch this concert. Tonight was no exception.
Glad I'm not the only one. (Herb instead of drink for me though)
Here’s to another night of solitude, substance, and Casiopea; Cheers!

Minoru is a master of chord voicings
Eff yeah
4-Way Close master! :)
Now I realize that my affinity for this kind of jazz started with Mario Kart!!
Hi I'm from Jakarta Indonesia.
First time watch this live concert on my Sony Betamax in 1988. After 35 yrs, I still amazed to their performances.
keren banget om ini!
the talent it takes to perform live with studio quality is so amazing to see, amazing tempo rhythm and precision. i absolutely love this band
Not just studio quality, but live energy with it.
Issei noro was rocking so hard on this recording, he was shredding that guitar, not only that but also a great leader on stage.
issei noro fucking killed it, this concert is easily one of the best casiopea concerts of all time
Life feels empty when this video isn't playing
The pianists cuffs are as tight as his playing abilities. SUPREMELY
35 years after this and i´m still wondering why there are no NEW bands as fantastic as them.
The execution and delivery of those instruments chords after chords, progressions and timing are above human.
I get goosebumps everytime I watch this concert. A true masterpiece.
Thanks greetings from Chile

The guitar tone is insane, holy shit. Actually, all the instruments sounds so good.
It's been a month and every waking moment is soundtracked by Casiopea, even if I'm not actually listening to them. I hear Asayake when I see the sun rise and set each day.
The chord progression at 48:52 is INSANE.
100% agree, I don't even think I properly heard the bass line the first times I heard it, it's such a rich musical moment. Also they're all having the time of their lives, the guitarist and bassist dance, I truly love it
agreed bubbles. the joy of the groove cannot be wiped from their faces
For me the best part of concert.👍🙏❤️
What about 15:46 ? I’m blown away… speechless
Literally watching it directly as i saw this comment
The Fantastic Four Issei Noro (lead guitar), Tetsuo Sakurai (bass guitar), Akira Jimbo (drums), Minoru Mukaiya (keyboards).
Juan St. Sumampouw Akira Jinbo*
FuckMonsanto Really?
Juan St. Sumampouw yeah somehow his name was westernized over the years, but I’m almost certain his birth name was Jinbo
True! It's because in Japanese langauge the "m" can't stand alone without a vocal. But the "n" can. If you read his name in Kanji it says "Jinbo".
Hell yeah
can't remember how many times i've listened to this.. 🙌
same
THE BEST JAZZ BAND IN THE WORLD.....PURE EARGASM🤤🦻
Wonderful footage! I love 48:04 - particularly 48:51- 49:29 "Dance" scene! Everybody was smiling and enjoying what they were doing!
yeeeeeeeeeeeees my thoughts exactly!
en effet ;... un bonheur
My brother told me that Casiopea was our late father's favourite band. I remember watching that live performance way back in the 90's. Ah, the nostalgia...
Just found this band. Truly incredible.
One of my favorite bands.

25:16 Looking up is so good! That bassline...

The best band in the world, by far...
Best Japanese band 100%
@@inthefle Best band, planetary division.
truechamp! ngl this is kinda true,,,,...m
Japan seriously has some of the most fucking incredible bands and musicians, everything from city pop to jazz fusion, this music feeds my soul the goodness I've wanted all my life.
30 seconds into the video and I'm already adding this to my "Great Concerts" playlist.
That bass on Looking up by Tetsuo is out of this world - still after 38 years. He's my hero!

My best friend showed me this band, and now I'm in love with this show!!!!!!
Perfect blend of Jazz and funk!!!!
Tetsuo Sakurai is by far one of the grooviest bass players in the entire World ! Love this band ! ... Where was Akira Jimbo ?....
Oh , my mistake ! This is Akira Jimbo !
A very controversial bassist to be sure, in my opinion he starts where Jaco Pastorious left off. Jaco brought the bridge pickup down on the Bass of Doom to get that rich bridge tone, Tetsu went as far to modify his top of the line Yamaha BB-2000 to be headless for much the same reason, that sweet, low action, low vibration warmth and control from having the tuning heads right by the pickups.
A lot of bassists criticize his style of playing as pretentious and excessive, that bridge pickup, low action slap technique is often compared to guitar shredding and frowned upon as unnecessary... personally I think its stellar and he is one of the world's most innovative and talented bassist. He fills the holes and layers with the high Tom driven style of Akira Jimbo to create a sound like no other. A huge influence of mine, he has inspired me to purchase my own Yamaha BB-2000 bass. Definitely top 5 in my books.
@Jay Griffin id say his playing is very “bouncy”
@@wesworach7441 Actually it's Yoshihiro Naruse
@@69bartman6969 not sure who you're referring to but thats Tetsuo Sakurai on bass and Akira Jinbo on drums :v i belive Yoshihiro didn't join until 1990ish besides his live support in the early days
During these hard times in life, I listen to this performance and instantly it makes me feel better, I'm gonna miss ya till the day I die Joe... I hope someday you'll get to experience this as well, rest easy up there bud
This is sooo great. I've been a fan since early eighties (Mint Jams, Photographs) and sadly never have seen them live myself. Not sure if they ever played North Sea Jazz (probably not because I'd have ssen them). They where my musical heroes, until late eighties. I still enjoyed them in the 90s and 2000s but it was not the same vibe. I was an aspiring young keyboardist myself and started my own band around this time (mid eighties) and my own composition would have been full of Casiopea influence (I also loved Lee Ritenour, who they've actually worked with), but also Miles 80s band (with Scofield and Darryl Jones, CHECK OUT Miles Davis Septet Live At The North Sea Jazz Festival 1985). But yes this is epic, all my favs! Also @thrillho (comments below) that is just hilarious LoL, it actually is a Saturday, I'm having a nice wine, and am enjoying this so much, back in time hahaha OMG
I think my favorite part about this whole video, besides the fact that the entire thing is absolutely awesome, is that if you pay close attention you can sometimes see Issei & Tetsuo mouthing out their notes while playing. 21:52 is my favorite, where Tetsuo mouths a heavy "be-do" with his last two notes in-frame.
At least 50 of these views have been from me during finals week. Thanks for the helping hand Casiopea.
I’ve listened to this video countless times, it shows my true devotion and understanding of music every time I listen! I learn something every time!
wow, i have been feeling awful the past few days because of the flu and watching this performance made me feel better, so good!
I love this live, especially the part where they are dancing, the solo, it reminds me of my time at school with my friends having fun.
This is by far the best live performance i've ever seen and i haven't even seen it live :O
I could feel upset at every moment I didn't know about Casiopea but instead, I have a whole future of enjoying them. T-T
Casiopea is one of my most favorite groups ever. These songs still give me chills, after all these years. Their love for music is so obvious and contagious! Thanks for the upload.!
Twilight Solitude... great song
The intro always gets me in the feels
i love that issei noro used a fretless guitar such an underrated instrument
that section at 36:13 made me SO HAPPY

The solos are amazing study music -- this entire concert is, but especially them. I feel like I'm in the process of warming up to do something great whenever I hear them.
Ita a shame there isnt a blu ray or dvd version of this...id put it in my library in an instant.
Oh and i misspoke fortunately! For anyone who wants this live performance, its a dvd called: casiopea live history part 1. Available from amazon japan new, awesome dvd 👍
What an absolute beast of a group. This is by far the best I've seen yet. I wish I was alive at the time of this performance
I love the idea of Girafalez being a Casiopea fan
7:28 What a catchy lick
This is surely a level of freshness that is impossible to recreate.
Thank god the crowd cheered harder if not we wouldn't get that sick Minoru progression
Man, I discovered this band on Spotify and I am totally stunned by the quality of the songs.
I never played any instrument, but what they do during the show It is impressive in my opinion, remembering all theses complex musics with no mistake. Absolutely amazing.
I just couldn't pause the video. Just couldnt
The best Casiopea live. Can't believe this much of sound quality was recorded live in 1980s
i have to say that was the golden era of music
34:49 yeah i can feel the sound too bro. xD
I am SO happy I gave this live a chance! I realised this is the one where they performed my favourite rendition of galactic funk, and with superb quality! I don't know much of the rest of their set but it sounds amazing too, thank you so much for sharing with us
Genial !! Como amo Eye of the Mind. Grande Casiopea!
É uma grande banda. Gosto muito da Asayake

The best of Casiopea are Issei Noro, Tetsuo Sakurai, Minoru Mukaiya, Akira Jimbo.. We miss Tetsuo and Minoru who already left the group..
this is very good. favorite moments are when the keyboard comes in at the beggining of looking up and the keyboard solo. bass solo too very good
This is my new internet checkpoint! Surely a magnificent concert!

these 4 are the real casiopea
The best thing on the planet, thank you, Casiopea!
Seriously? There are those who voted a thumbs down on this concert? Oh well, I guess, to each their own, but in my opinion - this was most excellent! I used to watch this video all the time while stationed at Rhein - Main AFB, Frankfurt, W. Germany - 1985. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for making this work of art accessible and in high definition available.
Love this guy's great music
no words to describe what this bass makes me feel
astounding, cant believe how good this is, peak of music
I wish I had a time machine, just so I could experience this very moment.
I never would've known there could be so much to music
these are the only virtuosos that make me want to create music, not give up. their passion for their art is completely devoid of ego. its my greatest wish to be that beautifully passionate about music someday, but im only 14 so ive got time lol
You're on a great path then, Jack. God will walk with you.
that microphone thing was so cool
Inacreditável o quão bom essa banda é
Meu amigo, concordo plenamente. É fantástica!
Absolutely amazing band! I love it!
This was my go to 'adult' style when İ was in my teenage years, with Level 42, Mezzoforte, Lee Ritenour etc along with Duran Duran, U2, Kaja Goo Goo etc. Yes, quite contrast, and my vast music preference was viewed eccentric even by my peers back then. Casiopea was a level on their own. The 80s will live on. The best era so far.
Galactic Funk I think was my favorite off of this
Galactic Funk is really good.
These guys are amazzzzzzzzzzing!!! Thanks Rafael for posting!! :-)
