Number 1:
Make video mixes like how I do on CZcams insert demo of MWM, and demo of another mix with me in front
So if you wanna make something similar to that, it’s pretty easy.
You’re gonna need to do 5 things:
1. Conceptualize a mix
2. Set up your equipment and practice that mix
3. When you’re ready. Set up your camera
4. Press record on your DJ software, and camera, and turn on screen record on your computer
5. After recording everything together in a perfect take. Simply import those 3 clips to your editing software and put that mix together.
Now there are 2 things that I like about making video mixes.
Number 1 is that you also practice and get better in DJ’ing.
Recording that perfect set will take a lot of time. Trust me. So the more you repeat your mix over and over again, the better you’ll become at practicing whatever mix or transition you’re trying to show off. Remember, if you can’t do it in front of a camera, how can you even do it in front of an audience ;)
Number 2 is that you make content to better market yourself as a DJ
Growing a fanbase on CZcams, Soundcloud, Mixcloud, Instagram, and even Facebook is really the new battlefield for DJ’s who wanna get booked and recognized. You see, If you’re not a producer, you gotta show the world how you mix, and what you mix!
So the more you focus on growing your brand through making content, the better off you’ll be in the long run.
So make those mixes and videos!
Number 2:
Download FREE Music!
So one of the questions I get the most in my videos is “where do i download my music”. And the short answer to that is, NOW, I download most of my music through DJ record pools like DJ City, and BPM Supreme. You can think of these record pools as libraries of music you can download for a monthly price.
Now the thing is, not everyone here has the means to afford a record pool. Most DJ’s, at least young beginners, can even barely afford DJ equipment, what more a monthly paid subscription service?
So here’s what I did when I was starting out, and when couldn’t steal my Moms credit card.
I….ripped music from CZcams and Soundcloud. And I’m not proud of it.
So anyway, here’s how I did it back in the day. Now, I’m not encouraging you to do it, I’m just letting you know how…..
1. Find the track you want, and copy the URL
2. Google CZcams Mp3 Ripper, and choose whichever one suits your fancy
3. Paste your link, and click download.
4. Feel guilty, because you’re now a pirate.
Number 3:
With your new music.
Properly prep them, and you can find a super handy video on how to do just that over here.
But to summarize it.
Analyze your tracks, beat grid them, cue point the beginning of the track you want to use, and cue point the sections where you want to mix in and out.
Now this is a tedious process, but it’s a good practice to do when you download new stuff.
Because every new track you’ll download and prepare can instantly be used to DJ professionally with!

Salmat bro! Always great videos and content. Check out Instagram Joe.Chips.body.Coach
Awesome tips I have prepping my songs even before the lockdown and I have been able cover a lot of that now. How do you decide to set set your outro cue especially when you don’t want play the full song. I have pretty much been using the second chorus depending on the songs.
Please Indonesian subtitle 🙏
Thank you brother for your secrate Record collection tricks....🤘
It's quite annoying, fb mutes dj's during live sessions eventhough there's a disclaimer posted.
Thanks to this video, I was able to rip all of Carlo's video mixes, stitch them together, and now I have a successful Mixcloud! Thanks Carlo!
You’re welcome dude😂😂
Haha
DJ carlo atendido: "my dj friends"
his dj friends after showing how to rip their music: "not anymore"
Thank you Carlo , been subscribed for over a year and you've grown your fan base so much! Thanks for all your help :)
Quarantine is extended, so you DJs better be listening to DJ Carlo, haha.
Yeahhhh! More time to practice too!
I look forward to your videos Carlo! Keep up the great work!!!
We well said and absolutely amazing video! thank you so much Carlo you are one of the best youtubers for all the DJs.
Your lessons are the best we use them with all our students. Thanks for being real about everything!
Awwwww! This is awesome! Thanks for sharing them to more folks! Glad you like them!
Yo I buy my music now but you are THAT DUDE for being real about ripping music lol
Real talking!
Lollll man. At least you keep it real man
@@djcarlo you can give me your Instagram Name? I want to tell you
I have been so tempted to ask the same question now I know lol. I really enjoy your video tutorials since it's something I've been interested in learning
RIGHT! The entire DJ community frowns upon it. Understandably so. However, some beginner DJs can’t afford to spend $$ on music if they’re not making any money in return yet. I don’t suggest ripping music either but I think everyone should live within their budget
That’s very informative tips thanks once again Carlo 🔥🔥🔥
My first decks arrived on Monday and I’ve just dropped my first little mix largely from what I’ve learned by watching all your channels! I’m fairly pleased with it based on my limited time! Thanks for all your really helpful videos!
Top tier advice for the lockdown... thanks 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Thanks. love how you keep it short and simple! Genius!
Cool! Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
I can’t stress how amazing you (DJ Carlo) and your lessons are. Simply phenomenal!
Awwww! Glad and appreciate you love it! Stay awesome!
Hey, this may sound crazy, but would you be interested in doing a video with old dj controllers? I have a 10 year old dj controller that my cousin gave to me as a gift, and I find it hard replicating some of your lessons. It’s a Numark Mixtrack. I’m curious how a pro dj such as yourself (dj Carlo) would implement techniques on a controller with limited functionality. I think it would be a cool video for amateurs such as myself. Thank you!
Thank you Carlo! This is exactly what I was thinking. I've been learning to DJ since 2017 but haven't really done any official gigs. Mostly made mixes which have been pretty well received. I've gotten formal instruction & gotten a lot better. My plan was to really get out & pursue it more but covid hit. Twitch seems a little tacky in some sense & I wanted to get more creative & I personally find more interest in the live/recorded mix sets on youtube. Thanks again! Your videos are super helpful.
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing your experience! Glad this content helped you out! Cheers!
To get more field experience. Hit up friends and family and offer to Dj the next BBQ or backyard birthday party.
Great for the summer. And just think once the beer and wine is flowing they will think your a Dj god. lol.
Since your starting out. You might find yourself busy for the first summer. Its what I did as a 16/17 beginner. That was 35 years ago.
Its the same advice I've given to the guys I've helped in their startup.
Cheers.
Good luck.
Wow thank you so much for the first 2 months free this is amazing 😍
This is an awesome sharing!!!
I spent hours and hours on my deck to get the mixtape perfect. Ahahah... and even editing a medley MV for the mixtape.
That's awesome! Good luck!
OUTSTANDING VIDEO CARLO! -Kuya Short
everytime when i see your a new videos, i learn something new about djs.. thanks dj carlo .
Happy to hear that! My pleasure!
The cue points location is a good advice. Thank you.
You bet! You're welcome! Time to analyze the tracks and prepare them during the lockdown!
Thanks!
I liked the stealing music part 'not to encourage' but you are right. Life is unfortunate, but there is a lot of unfortunate things going on.
Controversial but real talking there!
I was actually looking forward to see you do a livestream this ECQ. So its not gonna happen 😢 always listening to your mixes anyway. It Made me sane and happy! 😊❤️
Sorry! But I'm updating the channel every now and then so it's just a taped streaming. Lol. Thanks for your support as always!
thank you for the tips!
my favorite tip was the 3rd one, although i have discovered doing it myself, i wish i have seen this tip before, it is a great cue-mixing technique.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for being here!
These tips were on point tbh!
Thanks for info as usual
No problem 👍 Anytime!
2 years later you still influence people all over the world Carlos with your well informed video's. Thank you and God bless you
I try to make my videos as timeless and relatable as possible haha
Thank you for this!
Woot! Woot! You are very much welcome!
Thanks for tips Man! :)
Preparing & practice is the key to great videos and I have started to use stream labs to get more professional at my live-streams and multi stream, yes it a lot hard work but does pay off as my audience knows how much work has been involved as they love my shows and always come back for more
It was worth watching.. thanks for sharing this valuable information 🙏🏾🔥
Glad you enjoyed it! You're welcome!
Nice content bro
Thank you Carlo! :)
No worries! Cheers!

Last step: Use Fakin’ the Funk app after ripping music to appreciate just how bad these audio files are.
Agree!
With this Coronavirus and quarantine, I found so many low profile DJs streaming, some better than a lot of the popular ones out there. Let them shine!
Who?

@@djcarlo I actually have a question for you can you make a Hercules Jogvision tutorial I have it on DJuced and I still have no idea how to use it properly?
man this helped thank you
No problem 👍 Glad to here!
Prep, prep , prep, PREP!!! I feel like this is the most important
Couldn’t emphasize more!
This have been helpful,i cant livestream because facebook keeps taking it down so i would just make videos and share it directly trough my friends thanks dj carlo
That works Darryl! Less problems as well with social media that way
The 'problem' isn't live streaming, it's the viewers.
I have been a DJ since 1980, and still DJ now.
I want people to listen to the music, and how I play/mix/present a journey of audio delights.
But, 99% of live stream viewers are only interested in what the stream looks like. The DJ's with by far the most viewers, are not very good at actually DJ-ing at all, in fact, some are absolutely fucking terrible.
They simply upfade tracks into one another, and those tracks are all recorded at the same BPM meaning they don't need to beatmatch.
Then these terrible DJ's will pretend to turn every knob on the mixer (while actually not doing anything in reality, the audio doesn't change - it's all for show), and dance around, flirt to the camera, and generally show off.
If you are a 18-22 year old, pretty girl, with big tits, you will get the most viewers !
There are a small number of listeners who don't care what the stream looks like, because they are intelligent enough to actually care about the music.
Yes! I agree on what you have laid down about viewers! Thanks for the input!
@@djcarlo What is your nuber because I want to do the dj with you
Indeed... I discovered this once Corona hit and I started watching DJs... I've been doing this for 20 years and actually took a break for the last five or six... I knew controllers had sync but I had no idea that the turntables now are built with a sync button no wonder everybody has four and everybody is a DJ because nobody literally has to learn how to mix... It's pathetic and embarrassing and I'm actually glad that I'm not on the scene anymore I just DJ for me
@@yoresistersass9326 100%
DJ-ing is a fashion statement these days.
It is so easy to line up beat peaks on a screen, and add a few effects, you don't even need to actually listen to the music anymore, you can mix perfectly with just your eyes.
I miss the days when you had to actually mix with your ears.
And modern DJ's all boast about 'oh it's just the same and you can do more things with software' blah blah no it's not, it's piss easy compared to proper DJ-ing.
If these modern DJ's had to go back to the late 70's early 80's and do great live sets in a sweaty old club with belt drive turntables and real vinyl they would crumble.
Fuck off saying you get the most viewers for having big tits mate. Just because nobody wants to watch your stream doesn't mean women are the problem.
The best tip is to cue point tracks. I love to cue point intro/outro, buildup, breakdown, drops, tempo changes, and vocals. This mind numbing process makes me feel more prepared
Thank you so much for watching! 👍👍👍 Great tip!
Good job Carlito
Thank you so much! Woot woot!!!
I’m using this time away from work to take online dj courses and putting together mixes to upload on MixCloud. Just received my MacBook that’ll be fully dedicated to DJing. Just hustling my butt off
Good for you! And enjoy your MacBook!
I just converted back to vinyl and it's getting EXPENSIVE!💸💸💸💸💸
I'm a firm believer that as soon as an artist plays songs for the people and the radio, the song then becomes the property of the public. I still get my music from CZcams. I never felt bad for doing so either, I knew when I played my music that it would do its intended purpose and soothe the soul
Great insights! Thank you so much!
Nice track list
