As a former educator, I used to marvel at the names children were given. More times than not, children with "unique" names had problems in school. It was also not surprising that these same children had problems with law enforcement.
I am not talking about names of children born into certain cultures or ethnicities. I am talking about the "Shaunyareeyas" and "Daquans".
Granted, these names are not as unusual in 2024 as they were in the 1980s. But when you look at the police records, you will see an abundance of Quantavious, Shanquantas, Diamonds, and Dashons.
Sure, you will see the occasional Mollys, Dylans, and Jennas. Criminal's names are as varied as the people who commit crimes.
But I still say that what you name your children can create unfair perceptions or impressions based on the name.
