Scummy pricing schemes are rampant in the Philippines. Not just for phones. A 🔫 with MSRP of $500 will be P50,000-P60,000 here. Some are even x5 the MSRP.
Merchants aren't the only ones at fault here, the banks also charge the merchants what's called swipe fees (1-2% of the total amount swiped) and an additional (3-4%) for installment purchases which then get passed on to us consumers. :( Shoutout tho to certain banks like Metrobank that offer promo periods (such as the 8% off on 24 months BNPL purchases at PMC) that offset these additional costs bringing the price down to the SRP for installment purchases :D

very true! regular prices in some authorized resellers are too much. and i agree, these strategies are kind of deceiving because they are appealing to consumers. yes they are of 0% interest rate but are actually already baked into the actual prices. well, i guess these are just things that consumers are willing to spend at this point lol. nothing wrong with that tho esp if you have the budget for it. anyw v informative and commenting for more chances of visibility for the case giveaway lol.
Nothing wrong because it’s a free market. Solution to this is better competition. Hope this video exposes what’s happening, and other retailers become more price competitive!
