I Dan i hope everything is fine. Those Red amps have a history behind them.... They are VERY VERY RARE and they were made by Mr Van Den Hul(audio cables). I know you won't believe it but they put the sony(and i love the sony) in a corner. They are the Ferrari of the amps... is to compare a Cheapest Rolls-Royce(Sony) with a Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut(VDH) in terms of speed and performance. Best Regards Luis Rodrigues
Dan Livni I apologize for the delayed, I'm not sure if the Sony TA-N1 is better than the TA-NR1, I never heard the two side by side but we can compare the two in their characteristics.The TA-NR1 is a pure Class A VS Class A/B in the TA-N1.The TA-NR1 is a monoblock construction VS a stereo construction.Maybe the TA-N1 is a bit better than the TA-NR1 derivative the much more bandwidth required by SACD sources (the linear Phase circuit designed).The CD player is a SACD Accuphase DP 100/ DC 101 + the 808 MK5.

I the sony are very good in quality sound and beauty if you like Accuphase Amps the sony have a similar sound. The problem with the "horrible" sound(music) it's my room fault because I didn't have any kind of acoustic treatment. In relation to the music(song) or you like it or you hate it.
