      I just started watching miracle day for the first time. I’ve only watched one episode so far but I think it’s ok. The problem is that it follows children of earth which was an incredible story. If miracle day had come first I think more people would like it but they were expecting children of earth standards which are near impossible to fulfil

    • @mrwho995
      @mrwho995 Před 10 lety +21

      Children of Earth did that far far better than MD attempted to. MD had awful characters, was far too long, was far too american, had stupid plot with threads that went nowhere, a completely unconvincing ending, a resolution that flew in the face of established canon, and far too much thriller. If you want something 'political', that 'dared to raise social questions', watch Children of Earth, which trounced Miracle Day in pretty much every conceivable way.

    • @rincewind890
      @rincewind890 Před 7 lety +6

      Actually, one of the biggest reasons people hated Miracle day was to do with its Americanisation, not politics. It took everything that made it different and kind of went "nah.. we'll change all that". It didn't feel like "Torchwood" any more.. it felt like some odd Torchwood/CSI-something crossover.. and the changes just destroyed it for many people. This concept could have worked well. I loved the premise.. but the BBC never should have sold it, and they never should have let it become what it became.

    I dont understand, people who didnt like it obviously dont remember 2 things:
    1. Torchwood are suppose to investigate the paranormal, which could include anything, whether its alien or not. Miracle Day was something non-alien and paranormal, and was very very great!
    2. It's a Doctor Who spinoff remember? And the thing about Doctor Who, is that its always about change, so why not Torchwood change a little with their change of setting and atmosphere?

    @danimayb I just finished watching S4E2 and I have to say that it is amazing. My favorite actor so far is Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper) whose maternal no bullshit attitude really eclipses her American counterparts, including Jack.
    What is interesting is the fact that the British public have had three seasons of Torchwood to get used to, not to mention Doctor Who, whereas on this side of the pond we are practically getting it all at once. The yanks end up looking goofy!

    @MysteriousStranger03 i think it premiered first on the BBC, and on they're showing it on the Starz network, which is a US network.

    @DCKingdom09 - You do realise that Russell T Davis is still making the show, right? There's nothing different apart from the location and the fact the US get it first

    @KERKYRA199 Well, the 1996 movie was an attempt to bring back Doctor Who - on FOX. That was mostly American.
    Russell T Davies was involved with this, and I think he wrote two episodes. Fortunately, this is a continuation, not simply a US version of the show. (US copies of UK shows like - Coupling, All in the Family, Three's Company, The Office, Reggie) However, the UK copied the US Law and Order. One UK Law & Order episode I saw was a UK version of a US script.

    I heard that the USA has a censored version of Torchwood, and that Wales(UK) has a edited version.

    @Sal0pe69 Yeah... and? Jack's been around for a few lifetimes, and I highly doubt that he hadn't learned, over time, to move on from his losses. Also, good job paying attention, since the death of his grandson, and Ianto were actually mentioned a few times (by Danes and Jack himself, respectively).
    No, I really don't expect Jack to linger on, especially after two years. If you do, you're kind of a fool.

    BTW how do the Welsh & Scots feel about the nice German Battenberg family? Charley is Prince of Wales and Phil is Duke of Edinburgh.
