  • I love getting my clothes secondhand so I know which charity shops and vintage stores in London are the best to visit. In this video I take you with me on my first shopping spree of 2020, showing you my favourite charity shops and vintage shops in London, and at the thrifted pieces I scored (and also... didn't.)
    Thrift or secondhand shopping in London usually falls under two categories:
    - Charity shops - run by UK charities, selling donating clothing and accessories for money for the charity
    - Vintage stores - for-proft stores that curate trendy vintage items.
    Shops mentions:
    - Mary's on Westbourne Grove
    - Oxfam on Westbourne Grove
    - Fara on Elgin Crescent (Notting Hill)
    - Beyond Retro (Shoreditch)*
    - Rokit (Shoreditch)
    - Atika (Shoreditch)*
    - Fara (Northcote Road)
    - Royal Trinity Hospice (Northcote Road and Lavender Hill)
    *= included in the 3-Day London Itinerary: loveandlondon.com/3-day-londo...

    Loved this video! I love the concept of charity shops because it’s giving back and they are quite small and intimate. I got a fantastic heavy short coat sweater and great clutch purse at one shop 3 years ago. Cannot wait to be back and see what other gems can be found
    Love your dresses and the leggings! Great finds

    found lots of great deals in thrift stores myself! Like buying a lot of branded clothing like under armour, oakley, adidas and 5.11 for a fraction of the original prices - but of course they're used so before I wear them I spray them down with lysol and then wash them, they might have all kids of cooties on them :)

    aww love this video! I'd like to pop in at least a couple of second hand shops next time I'll be in London (hopefully this summer). Jess I have your opposite problem, I am very short (150 cm, don't ask me to translate it in feet and inches, I'll never understand those measurements completely. Also, I work for a firm which delivers designer stuff in the uk as well so I'd love to find for a small price something I usually just see on paper... thanks for the video and have a good Sunday

    I'm watching this video way too late but when you were talking about the tan peacoat, I was really curious what brand it was, especially after hearing about the price.
    I was surprised to find out, I actually own that coat! I bought it brand new in late 2018 from Mackage. It's a Canadian brand. It is a gorgeous coat, they run up to $1000 cad but they're really good quality. I still wear mine.

    Hi Jess, I bought a leather jacket many years ago, but have not worn it because the leather squeaks when I move around! I would imagine this would be even more irritating with leather trousers. I've always thought it was because I didn't pay enough initially, and get really top quality. Can you shed any light on why this should be, is it a common phenomenon?

    Hi, totally off topic. I love your vidoes they have been so helpful in planning out trip for next month. Could you please let me know about renting a car. My husband broke his leg a couple of months ago and is still have problems walking. I'm worried about all the walking to and from busses/trains. Is it worth it to rent a car in the situation?
    Not worried about driving on the other side of the road.

      I used to live in London. Totally agree with Love and London's comment. The only time I drove was to go out of London. It is not driving on the left or the driving that is the problem. It's parking. Finding a parking spot closer than a bus ride to where you want to go, is nigh on impossible.

    I found charity shops are a great place for cheap house wares if you're in London for a short-term stay like me and don't want to invest in goods for the long haul. Went to a shop in Brixton yesterday and they had lots of vinyl, CDs and musical instruments

  • @nurse956
    @nurse956 Před 3 lety

    To be honest why would anyone want to buy cloths and jackets from charity and used shop. You can get many high end make up, dresses, shoes from tkmax, zara and many good offers from debenhams. It is just to keep an eye. U can also get replica for anything but again atleast new and no body worn it.

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  Před 3 lety +2

      The clothes are washed and in great condition, they are much cheaper than buying new, and most fashion companies are contributing to climate change and making an incredible amount of waste of all different types. So shopping secondhand keeps pieces from going to landfill, saves money, and doesn't give money to greedy corporations who are ruining the planet :)
