I've watched Breaking Bad start to finish over 10 times, mostly due to introducing it to people, and these videos always tell me details I've never known about
Great!! That’s my goal!
Genuinely this is so true. Love this channel
@@ules5799Thanks again!!
OMG -- SAME HERE!! I'm currently working on my 8th watch through, and It's still thrilling every time. This channel has really given me a greater appreciation for a lot of the behind the scenes stuff that went on.
Definitely one the most jarring episodes, seeing Marie call them rocks instead of minerals for the first time was truly heartbreaking
I should have put a trigger warning!
i absolutely adore jesses reaction to gus killing victor, the way he sits forward and challenges him with his body language instead of cowering away says SO much about his character
Yeah! And the three different reactions are a great touch!
7:07 The way Victor looks at Gus reminds me of a child looking for his parents approval
Haha, so true!
The box cutter scene is so brutal. I don't remember how long it left me breathless, I had to walk away from the episode for a bit after I first watched it. I don't think any piece of media has given me such a visceral reaction. But it's exactly why Gus is my favorite.
Totally agree. Every time I rewatch, even during editing this video, it leaves me feeling a bit queasy. Actually I might *finally* be immune to it (for now) from the ~100 times seeing it while finishing this video. 😅
100% agree. It gave me a reaction unlike any kind of gore scene in media
I remember when I was watching these episodes for the first time on Netflix, I literally watched the end of season 3 and this episode without knowing they were different seasons
Funny! But that makes a lot of sense!
Meanwhile, Howard and Lalo are just chilling.
If Victor didn't went into the crime scene and just went to Jesse's car to make him drive back to the lab. As well as not cook, just waited like Mike. Maybe he'd be sparred.
Yep, I believe that, too!
i love the detail of mike pointing his gun at gus out of shock and instinct at the boxcutter scene. i half expected him to shoot when i first watched this episode.
Yeah! Apparently Vince was worried when he was told that Jonathan did this (it wasn't in the script) but once he saw the footage, he liked it.
@@betterwatchtv wow! i didn't know that
@@betterwatchtv Hmmm I had no idea about that. There are so many little things here and there that apparently weren't scripted but ended up in the final cut -- and this is the only channel (that I've seen) that has been able to identify them.
They're minerals, Marie
🪨🪨🪨
The fact an episode as iconic as Face Off only received around 2 million viewers is crazy. It's easy to forget this show really did take time to become as huge as it was, and still is.
That fake Sauls office is hilarious, again one of my favorite facts. Hank being obsessed with a different type of crystal is a genius joke I never caught.
Walter saying nonsense could be interpreted as being intentional nonsense to throw him off, I like that so I'll go with it. You know things are F-ed when Mike is shocked too.
Denny's is a fitting place, but Waffle House would have been even more fitting. The crazy stuff always happens there
I agree the viewership seems crazy! Yeah, and Walter’s nonsense could also be because he’s under duress, but throwing him off seems more likely!
I agree about Waffle House!
During the first public showing of this episode, Bryan Cranston's daughter actually fainted during the scene where Gus kills Victor, so the staff had to interrupt the screening for a moment and asked for a doctor in the room. For some reason, the scene became a lot more gruesome to me after I heard about this...
It’s easy to see how that would happen! It’s always felt extremely gruesome to me!
This episode's credits theme actually really grew on me.
Are you talking about the "Truth" song (which I do love now) or the real credits music (a variation of the BB theme that I didn't actually include in this video like I normally do)? "Truth" grew on me so much that I decided to use that to end the video. It's always tempting to end the video with more upbeat songs like this, versus the credits music which can sometimes sound depressing!
@@betterwatchtv I was talking about the real credits theme.
@@TomEyeTheSFMguy Aha, interesting. Sorry for not including it, then! :)
@@betterwatchtv It's alright. You do whatever feels best for your already great videos.
🙏
I think Victor smiling at 7:07 is the only time he's ever done it in the entire Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul universe.
Oh, that's a good detail!!
He smiled after Nachos death
Interesting! I wonder if any deep thought was behind that, or if it just worked out that way.
Man, Gus’s menacing demeanor is at a peak here. Giancarlo’s performance might be my favorite in the whole show, love how he can turn from Gus: Friendliest Restaurant Owner Ever to Gus: The Literal Scariest Man Ever
Absolutely!
just want to say that even though i can't financially support the channel i tune into and look forward to these episodes weekly, they're so well paced and i'm glad you're getting the growth and recognition you deserve
Thank you so much!! Your continued watching and commenting (and liking and subscribing) is probably the best way to support the channel! 🙏🙏🙏
0:15 Oh no. 22 has blood coming out....
Ominous!
I remember seeing a video by Lancelloti who is greatly underrated go into detail about this scene 6:47 and how the Colombian remake practically misses the point of the scene showing you can have the same Vince Gilligan script but it’s the acting, cinematography, and sound/music choices that really make it great
Indeed, so true! Making these videos, I've come to especially appreciate the music. Not just the original score from Dave Porter, but the incredible and diverse song selection by Thomas Golubić!
i’m not a member but i think it’d be funny if you added an emoji of hector looking at the DEA while he shits himself, if that’s not already one
Hahaha... We could definitely use a Hector emoji and that could be his best face (either that or his face when he detonates the bomb)! It's hard for these expressions to show up when in such a tiny image, but I'll definitely keep that in mind. We're getting close to the point where CZcams will require me to gain 50(!) members for each new emoji, so these new opportunities may be rare!
You must have one of the best member to subscriber ratios on the platform, really glad to see all the growth!
It's crazy, right!? 1.4% of subscribers become members! You folks are the best!
@@betterwatchtvPrice to quality ratio is out of this world. 😍
One of my favourite things from this episode is Mike's reaction to Victor's throat being cut, where even he's so surprised that he aims his gun as Gus.
Just a super cool detail.
Yeah! And apparently Vince was concerned when he heard they shot it that way because that wasn’t in the script. But when he saw the footage, he liked it!
5:55 i find crazy that you have to explain Skyler's actions (the text), probably because of all the hate the character receives
Well, and last time I got some complaints about calling her “wine cellar” accent cringe, so I wanted to make it clear that I’m not a Skyler hater!
@@betterwatchtv it's a very heated debate
Indeed!
I think it would be cool to have a count for every film artifact, similar to the "waltuh" counter xD
I’ve resisted because I’m sure I’m missing a ton. But I suppose it’s still something to count the ones we find. Maybe I’ll do it if I find another one. :)
I love this episode because there's an analysis by Lancelloti on it (and more specifically the box cutter scene) between Breaking Bad and the Latin American adaptation of Metastasis that goes extremely in depth into how all of the subtle details, camera work, and actor roles all combine to make such a vast difference in an otherwise identical scene.
Oh yeah, I think I've seen that! To me it really underscores how it takes so many talented people to make Breaking Bad what it is. It's not just the writing or the acting. It's also the amazing music, lighting, ...
Easily the best Season opener in the whole series. One of my favorite episodes period.
Oh wow, I never thought about ranking the season openers, but you're absolutely right!
If the next Breaking Bad spinoff doesn't have something to do with Hanks Minerals I'm not watching it (I love the Huell emoji )
I bet Dean Norris would be up for that!
Thanks!!
Still looking towards the release of Better Fuel Huell
goodbye, victor
Farewell, faithful henchman! Until we meet again in Better Call Saul...
After 10 years obsessing with Breaking Bad, I didn't think there was any more trivia about it I still didn't know. I have watched every single "top 10 things you didn't know about BB", I participate in on-line discussions about the show, read the official backstage guide-book and STILL, I was wrong.
You are sharing with us ACTUAL unknown facts. I know it's the result of the researches of several people, but even so, THANK YOU for your work!
Wow, that’s so awesome and so nice of you to say! Thank you!
I'm so glad I got to catch this early. Everyone has seen the episode, but I think that your commentary and insightful detail really adds so much to it all. I've been binging content about the BrBa universe ever since I started watching BCS, and this channel always teaches me something new in a really funny and creative way, quite like no other channel does. I feel really blessed to still be along for the ride and I'll happily support this channel in the future in any way I can! Can't wait for more episodes and thank you so so much, really!!
That's so nice, and I'm so happy you're here! Thank you so much for the encouraging words!!
Everything Walt said isn't false, ironically walt's formula in the show is the one that doesn't account for stereoisomerism / chirality.
Oh, good to know! It's all a mystery to me.
I read this on a wiki sometime ago so take with a grain of salt, but apprently it was supposed to lampshade the fact that the way they are cooking doesn't work in real life because of those qualities.
@@ayoraster2970 Cool, thanks!
Another amazing break down of one of the best episode . I watched a whole video about how Walt arrogance was the reason he was saying all that about Jessie and himself and when Gus slices his neck Mike also pulls his gun cause of the shock
Yep, thanks!! An amazing scene in an amazing episode!
I love how you cut up the episode in such a way that the video doesn't become overtly long but we as viewers are always on track with what is going on in the episode without having to go rewatch it ourselves.
Thanks so much! I put a lot of time into doing it that way, so I'm glad you appreciate it!
Your editing and scripts in this video are just, top tier. Please keep on improving. I hope you do El Camino and Better Call Saul after this.
Thanks!! That's my plan, although I'm not sure exactly when to fit in El Camino.
11:04 Walt apparently takes traits from the people who Hank killed too
I like it!
6:10 this is the moment the minerals arc begins, Vince you done it again😂
😅🪨🪨🪨
I love these videos you’re making, so well made and researched. They deserve more attention
Thank you! Your views, comments and likes will help them spread! There was a big boost of new people finding the channel last month!
Great work as always mate!
Thanks, Jay!!
From a chemist's perspective: The line "I can't as of yet account for the blue color" could be due to a unique crystallization technique of the meth that Gale is unaware of (also possibly contributing to further purity), rather than it having to do with methylamine in the process
Ah, thanks!
Fantastic editing!
Thanks, Sebas! 😁
Love to see the return!
🎉🎉🎉
Great video as always, keep them coming!
Thanks, Biel!!
Victor: Dammit, what comes next?..
Walter: You forgot the aluminium!
Victor: Ah, that was it!
Walter: *Surprised Victor heard what he said out loud*
😂🤣 I’m guessing Victor doesn’t really hear it, but why take the risk??
I love your videos. It's so interesting the facts you find
Thank you! Several are discoveries from others that I'm just reporting on, but some are new discoveries!
you're doing a great work here bro, keep it up!
Thank you so much! I'm trying to keep up the pace!
Oooh, the Severance tease. I'm going to be enjoying your channel for a long time it seems
Woo-hoo!!! I'm worried about upsetting all the people who came here for Breaking Bad, but that's a promising sign!
Another fantastic episode
Thanks! :)
8:52 I love Jesse, Walter and Mike's reaction when Gus killed Victor.
Jesse was depressed because he killed gale and when he saw that Gus killed Victor he seemed to come out of depression.
And Walter who thought Gus would kill him and when he saw that Gus killed Victor and not him then he said to himself in his head "Why didn't he kill me?".
And Mike who thought that Gus would kill Walter or give him a punishment or something and when Gus killed Victor Mike was surprised and Mike said to himself in his head "Why did he kill him and not Walter?".
(sorry for my long text i don't know how to make this short).
(and sorry if maybe you didn't understand).
That makes perfect sense! Thanks! Yeah, being able to convey those three different thoughts in a quick moment with no dialogue is amazing!
this is one of my fave episodes. bryan’s acting is soooo good in this one. can’t wait for the next one ❤
Yeah. I just love when he says, “HOW WOULD YOU EVEN KNOW IT!?”

hank was such a prick to marie when he was bed bound lmao
💯 People should keep this in mind when they criticize her renewed shoplifting!
Love your videos, have been bindge watching your entire series within a week, now caught up to the current Upload schedual.
Thank you for the high quality content
Thanks for being here!! Your binge watching sends a great signal to "The Algorithm"
Don't know if it was a reference point for the writers, but the dynamic of Gus killing Victor reminds me of the Coke bottle scene from The Long Goodbye. "That was someone I love. You I don't even like."
Haha, awesome! That's definitely possible. Thanks!
im surprised u dont have more subscribers. these videos are super in depth and well edited
Thank you!! Well, the channel’s growing at least! The subscribers basically doubled a month ago.
"THEY'RE MINERALS"
iconic
Indeed! It’s the start of a new era! 🪨
I think the pink bear bought Walt back to reality realizing a kid died in the crash, maybe keeping the eye as a hint to Brock and his cuz that shot combo
Could be!
I dont know how you find all of these hidden details but I applaud you for it sir!
Thanks!! It’s a combination of details others have found over the years, listening to and watching behind-the-scenes stuff, and watching each episode very closely (zooming in on things, etc.)!
@@betterwatchtv Well you do a damn good job!👍🏻

Man that APorkchopGuy sounds like a cool guy 😂
Agreed!
Can't wait for the Severance videos!
Great!
At 9:03 you can see the "Blood Path" going between Walt and Jesse but next Scene its "cleaned up" and only is in front of them
Yeah! There are so many continuity errors in every episode, I usually don’t point them out. But you’re absolutely right! 🩸
Better Watch TV: I've got 36 hidden details.
Gus: 35 will do just fine.
🤣😆🤣 There really are 36! I accidentally put “35” twice! 😅
BWTV is the goat! I'm loving coming back here every week it brings me back to when shows like Breaking Bad aired like this.
Thanks!! And without the yearlong wait between seasons! (Hopefully!)
you added the episode number ❤
I did! 😄 I hope it helps! It didn’t seem to hurt anything regarding the CZcams algorithm…
Yessss you made a Huell one
Something to note about the eye: Vince himself has stated they knew the eye had significant symbolic meaning, but he couldn't quite say what it was. He said, feet to the fire, I'd say it represents the Eye of God looking down on Walt. The first time we see the eye after Walt snags it, is when the twins come to axe him. At this time, Mike has Walt's house under surveilance (a watchful eye). Walt then stashes the eye in the drawer, and we don't see it again until Skyler finds it in box cutter. The eye, like Gus is to Walt after Box Cutter, is constantly there, but out of Walter's (and the audience's sight). Skyler finding it in Box Cutter, and then Gus storing himself away from Walt is a parallel. Skyler also learns about Gustavo Fring and mentions him by name in the last episode of S4. I also like to look at it as judgement. The universe sends the twins as Walt's judgement, but much like Gus says Mike about not wanting Hector to die by a bullet from Mike because it would be too humane, the universe decides the twins are too humane a punishment for Walt and sends Gus his way as a crueler form of punishment. But Walt flips the tables on fate, and becomes Gus' judgement, which is why his death parallel's the bear, half burnt face, and missing an eye.
Also, why Gus didn't have a menu item Chicken 'Fring'ers, I'll never understand.
OMG! The connection between the bear’s face and Gus’s face! I never thought of that!!!
And chicken fringers would have been amazing! I guess Gus wasn’t a part of their branding like the Colonel was!
Gus drops the box cutter on the floor after killing Victor in the same manner that Walt drops the gun after killing the henchmen in the lab when he goes to save Jesse in "Face Off" and I believe in the same spot too. Maybe I'm just over-analyzing it but thought it was a neat detail.
EDIT: Oops, never mind! I found it. You're right! That's a cool detail! [Hmm, what scene does Walt drop the gun in? I'm having trouble remembering or finding that scene in Face Off!]
when walt asks gale "how can our product be enantiomerically pure if our reduction isn't stereospecific" is actually a really good question because it's impossible to make meth the way walt does it and get only one specific enatiomer
Oh, that's awesome! Thanks! What I read is that he shouldn't have said 1-Phenyl-1-hydroxy-2-methylaminopropane, because that's Ephedrine, and that P2P doesn’t have any chiral centers?
@@betterwatchtv honestly I couldn't tell you, my original comment is as far as my chemistry knowledge goes.
sorry if I wasn't of any help!!!
Haha, no problem! Your point was helpful!
The methylamine cook doesn't typically make the meth blue, the color is supposedly due to Walt's improved recipe !
Oh, hmmm, I guess that could explain it. Walt and his “little tweaks of chemistry…”
When Gus kills Victor Mike out out his gun cuz even he didn't see it coming
Indeed!
Chiral, stereo, and enantiomers all describe left right symmetry.
Oh, that's interesting.
the graphics are so good
Thanks! 😄
luv u!!
Thanks, Gustav!
9:35 one watch through I got to this scene incredibly stoned and it was.. a lot to take in hahah the Lava lamp
Haha, I never thought of the lava lamp comparison!
What I think is gus wanted to replicate Walt’s product which is why he had methylamine
That makes sense!
I’m always thrown off by how hilariously bad his goatee looks in this episode, there’s a detail for you 😂
😅 At least there’s a good reason for it!
1:15 The blue color isn't a result of a methlamine cook, but of Walt's recipe.
Thanks, you're right!
With the amount of film artifacts you should put a counter to it as well.
😆 I was reluctant since I’m sure there are tons I’ve missed, but I’ll consider it if I find another one!
some people will say that Gale’s death was unjustified. this is untrue. Gale was EXTREMELY annoying 💯💀
😮 I love Gale! But you can certainly understand why it had to be done from Walt’s perspective.
Every episode with huell is a good episode

New recap 🎉
🎉🎉🎉
5:13 there’s actually another film flaw you didn’t notice
Question: Does seeing some of these continuity errors and other mistakes in the series make you like the series any less?
Not at all. The continuity errors are interesting because there are probably thousands of them... I stopped including them unless I find them noteworthy or funny. Because in just about every camera angle change, you see someone in a different position, etc. when you analyze things frame by frame. But I continue to be impressed by the idea that they only had 8 days to shoot each episode, when I have 7 days to make each of these videos. It does give the series a certain kind of charm. :)
5:39 and 5:51 You can see other addresses, but were those last numbers removed as well? They seem to be somewhat in order...228 & 232.
Edit: Nope. If you look on Gmaps, those are the actual house numbers.
Yeah, I went through the exact same thought process! So weird the way these are numbered!
Holy shit we’re in season 4 already

@betterwatchtv -- Honestly, I don't know how you would be able to hold down a full time job outside of making these videos considering how much time and obvious effort you've expended to make these. Believe me, your efforts do not go unnoticed and unappreciated!! Top notch work, as always.
