  • I got this Cub Cadet earlier this year in Spring with the intention of using it to help clear snow in addition to its main purpose of mowing the lawn. It's considered a garden tractor vs a lawn tractor because of it's heavier duty build and with it's ability to install multiple attachments, it's capable of doing more in the yard than just cut grass, such as moving snow. Here you will see I have installed Cub Cadet heavy duty plow that is capable locking at center, as well locking 30 degrees to the left and 30 degrees to the right, from center so the snow can be moved in either direction.
    I added aftermarket work lights on the tractor on the front and on the back so I can see in front and back while clearing snow at night which is often the time I am out clearing snow and the factory front headlights are not sufficient enough at night to see what I am doing. I wired them up on my own using automotive based relays and fuses and illuminated rocker switches controlling the front and rear lights independently.
    Lastly, not seen in the video, I have two 42 pound weights that will hang on the rear of the tractor for additional weight for grip, and chains for the rear tires for grip in the snow.
    It should be a decent setup for the winter, hopefully this will be able to push the snow.
    I bought this stuff with my own money, but using the links below will offer a kickback to me if you buy this product.

    Can you show how the cable system works with the pivot. I have mine hooked up but there's not enough tension it seems even with it at the tightest it can be. So the handle won't push forward or back to pivot the plow

      I didn't forget about you Bob, I just got a decent snow fall today and will be posting a video soon with a response to your question.

      It did awesome. I posted a couple videos showing it power through some snow and another one showing me strengthening the spring.

      Hey Warren. I’m out of mowing season with it being the start of December and I’m above the snow belt, what would you like to see in a review video?

      Well I will like to know how well the bagger did for you and how well it mowed for you and how well and did you have any problems with your mower and did the koler 7000 series 25hp worked well for you that type of thing because I’m planning on buying the cub cadet xt2 gx50 garden tractor with the same 25hp and that’s why I’m asking for a review on your garden tractor and your thoughts on it as well 😊

      Hi Warren, I don't have any videos of me mowing so I can't show you visually, but I hope my response here will be sufficient.
      I am very pleased at the efficiency of the bagger. It collects plenty of grass and leaves. The paper lawn and refuse bags you can buy from the big box stores, you can fit two of the 3 mower bags into one of the paper lawn bags so it can hold a lot. The standard blades that come with the mower have plenty of lift to collect all debris and send it up the chute into the bags. I also have the mulching kit where the blades have teeth-like knives on the fan part of the blade that creates lift, well they don't create as much lift so they are not ideal for bagging but if you are mulching, you would keep the material on the ground so it's really a non-issue.
      The only issue I have found with the mower is engaging the PTO for the blades. After the mower sits for a couple days from the previous mow, when I engage the PTO by lifting up on the yellow button, the electronic clutch is so aggressive, the engine almost stalls out trying to get the blades to spin. Once the machine is hot and I have engaged and disengaged several times, it no longer struggles. I don't believe this is an issue with the engine, rather the engagement of clutch goes full lock immediately and doesn't give the blades a chance to spool up. I will probably need to call service for this behavior.
      My particular mower came with the Kawasaki 25 hp v-twin instead of the Kohler but I believe the Kohler is the standard engine and this one came with the optional Kawasaki. Either option is perfectly fine, Kohler is found in a lot of outdoor power equipment applications and has a solid reputation so you can't go wrong with that engine.
      Overall, I am very pleased with this garden tractor. My mower deck is the fabricated style vs the stamped variant so it's built to last and is very sturdy. It also comes with the blade quick change sprockets so you can easily change the blades without any tools, this works great. My suggestion to further simplify this procedure is to buy a mower/atv jack that lifts the front or rear of the mower up to increase your working space. As you can see, I have purchased a plow for it and the plow does a fantastic job with clearing snow. I am not sure where you are located, but consider the plow if you receive snow. Tire chains are a must if so, and buy chain tensioners as you will see in the next video I post soon.
      I hope this helps answer your questions. Let me know how else I can help. Thanks!

    Do I need to take deck off

    • @iambigsteveo
      @iambigsteveo  Před 8 měsíci

      No, but you will want to so you’re not dragging the deck through the snow and rusting the blades being exposed to the moisture from the snow.
