  • In todays video I will show you everything you need to know to successfully use the double drop shot technique to catch SoCal trout. I am new to this technique but it is very easy to preform and extremely effective.
    Listed below are the rod, reel, and line I use when preforming this technique, as well as, links to videos that I used when researching/learning:
    Rod: Okuma SST 8' UL (SST-S802 UL)
    Reel: Shimano Sahara 1000

    When drop shotting from the bank remember to account for the line angle. This line angle will lower your bait closer to the bottom especially when casting farther out, so be sure to adjust leader length properly. Your rod tip height/angle will also greatly affect your bait depth.

      Thanks. One thing I appreciate about you is your transparency about bad fishing days. Somewhere, you mentioned that that you only post the good days and on days where you get one dinker, you don't post. Most youtube channels do not admit that. At DVL, I met a bunch of newbies across all the shorelines that showed up and spent hours catching nothing. They showed up because of all the video posting which seem to show a limit of large trout everywhere. Obviously there were frustrated as their expectations were not realistic. I mentioned to them that even the best get skunked and they only see the successful trips. So kudos to you for mentioning that. Perhaps that should be mentioned more often by a lot of the CZcamsrs so that people do not have false expectations.

      @@2musiclover534 thanks. Thats why they call it fishing and not catching haha. I always try tell folks about the reality of fishing and that your supposed to enjoy being outside, hanging out with friends, or just having some alone time and if you catch a fish great if not thats ok too. I would say easily 30% of the time I go out I don’t even get a bite. If I go out and have enough for a video its like 50/50. You gotta work hard at it and then be lucky at the same time haha All that being said, it still my favorite thing on earth to do, good day or bad day 🤘

  • @arciagmm
    @arciagmm Před 3 lety +1

    Great video! I followed the steps but I must have done something wrong on the last hook. Pointing down not up lol. Practice I must! 🤣 Question on bait. Gotcha on the minnows 👍 If you use Berkley power worms or real worms, do you "wacky rig" them on the hook?
    Thanks in advance 🤝

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  Před 3 lety +2

      Dont worry about the hook pointing down, happens to me all the time. I just massage the knot and try to get the hook upright as best I can and then I run the bottom line through the front of the eye (final step) and that usually helps. The hooks don’t absolutely have to be perfectly straight, mine rarely are. The rig will still work 🤘I do both. I change bait colors and configurations quite often until I get a bite
