2 things: XG songs will only sound better each time you hear them. I was the same way with Mascara. 2nd, People sleep on Hinata’s vocals, but she is is so smooth. Reminds me a lot of Aaliyah.
Don't beat yourself to it. I was the same at the 1st listen. It didn't jive with me at first. I didn't hate it. It was a great song. But after listening to it several times i started liking it more.

I think for me, I think that the sort of seriousness of the lyrics against the bounciness of the music helps to convey the cheekiness of overall concept. Like when you say something pointed with a smile. You expect that it’s one thing, but if you’re really listening, you see what the truth of it is
Not the team's fault. Hinata mentioned that she wasn't confident yet with her English/accent that's why she didn't get more singing parts. I'm pretty sure Simon and the team is cooking something for everyone in XG. let's be patient 😇

You’re right about Juria. But I think that’s her “role”. She has this innocence about her and it shows on her singing. Her tone is restrained/refrained but it has a bite to it. If you know what I mean. It’s a good contrast between her, Chisa, and Hinata. That’s why when they’re together, their harmonies just works together well. Maya looked a lot like Rosé from blackpink. Maybe cause of the blonde hair lol. Yes, I’ve been saying this too about Cocona. She has that old soul in her. The way she speaks. Her demeanor as well. She’s very mature. And she’s just truly amazing at that age. Simon mentioned that, Amy has this 4th dimensional personality. Hence the love for ET, trolls, aliens, and unicorns lol. She’s so adorable but fierce when performing
The only thing they did differently here is the pre-chorus with Chisa. Juria harmonizes with her. The “pay off” part is where Juria would come in. That was my favorite part when they did the “it’s live” version. But maybe they had a reason in this version. A lot of nay sayers doubts their vocals and always accuses them of lip-syncing on their live performances. They just don’t have any idea how good they are live. Sure, there’s some backing track for some harmonies and layers. But the main vocals are really them live
It’s Live Shooting Star is preferable for me as they look like they’re having fun and it wasn’t too much edited than First Take. Also it’s Live is a new perspective of the song as it’s a Band Version.
“It’s live” performance is edited. I noticed it cause Cocona’s right or left leg part of her pants was lifted at one point and the next it was down. First take is just that, a first take no edits no nothing.

@@K-Choi no shit, I’m a fan too. You do know SS was recorded last year right? Sometimes a persons voice changes. To me, Chisa sounds the same. And when you record in a studio. They have to use compressors, limiters and EQ. Different microphones, amps and processors also affects how someone’s voice or instrument will sound. These little things change how everything sounds at the end. “It’s Live” performance used minimal FX and no EQ at all, and not even the same microphones. “It’s live” performance used the typical Shure SM58 or similar, meanwhile on “First Take”. They used either Neumann Studio TLM 103 microphones or similar. Why can’t you get your head around that concept?
