Cutting a dado in your miter gauge extension may allow you to cut the blocks without the hole and then drill the hole with that cool jig you've got later but that would require having a steel clamp above your blade which can slip and injure you.
I was a Caterpillar mechanic for 30 years, now I am a new whirligig mechanic. Sometimes its best to just find a way that works good for you and ignore all others input. After all, it is your whirlugig shop/video.
I like your original way and after years of rushing around because my customers were being charged several dollars a minute for my mechanic skills, anything that allows me to go slow and take my time is WONDERFUL! Production and whirligigs don't go hand in hand in my opinion.
Low and slow is the way to go!

@@gwheyduke I just found your channel the pther day and really like the way you teach/do things. Im going to build some garden spinners soon and would have made the mistake of making the blades go the same direction.
Keep up the good work my friend!

It would only work for 45 degree wings
If you're doing that there's no reason not to double drill all your hubs, so you can change rotation direction at any time

Agreed, Interesting thought, thanks for the comment.

The only clear way of doing this is to use a backup jig and run the pieces standing up. Notch a 45 degree slot in your jig, stand the pieces up right, and run each piece through the saw blade. Push jig along fence. Drill holes afterwards.

@@gwheyduke Try changing the angle of the first cut and see if it is closer to the same pitch on the second. May take a few cuts. 45 degrees might work. Take care and have fun.
