- For my Presets visit: johnnathancordy.gumroad.com/ I've never been much of a gain stage person - coming from the world of channel switching amps, I tend to expect my drive pedals to have enough gain and oomph to get me into a lead territory. However, sometimes one pedal just doesn't give you the juice to do it. So why not try two pedals?
The Boss DS1 and SD1 are very common pedals, but I'm not sure I've seen anyone try stacking them in combination before, so I thought I'd make this one of my first gain stage experiments! - Hudba
I just watched your other video where you experimented with these two. Very interesting results. SD-1 into DS-1 was more rock-n-roll to my ear. DS-1 into SD-1 was beautiful and smooth. I'm going to try that for slide playing.

That lead tone at the end is unbelievably smooth and pleasant. Good job! I just picked up an SD-1 for a lead boost, but I can't help but be tempted to grab another DS-1. I had a DS-1 a few years back, and sold it after admittedly probably not giving it a fair shot before deciding to do so.
You cant go wrong with that orange and yellow BOSS pedals....ive been using all the new stuff i can get but in the end thos two pedals always getting back on my pedalboard
I'm fine with demonstrating sounds in a mix. It's surprising what difference it makes. Something that is a bit fizzy by itself can suddenly cut through and sound interesting in a mix

One production suggestion I would offer for these longer videos is to try and make your vocal level more equal to the gutiar level. I often find I have to turn up the volume to hear what you are saying and then when the guitar comes in it is uncomfortably loud.
Great sounds. Just bought an SD-1 on the intuition that it would stack with my DS-1 better than my TS9 currently does. So I'm glad you made this video to confirm my suspicions. Even though the TS9 is a "better" pedal, I think I actually prefer the SD-1.

My comment is somewhat irrelevant to the purpose of this video but, when double-tracking rhythm guitars in stereo, these two pedals also work well together in parallel. One on the left and the other on the right at equal volumes, perhaps with the tone rolled off a bit on the SD-1.

You can peel the plastic off of the pick guard. It is okay.

Have done this for a long time; creates interesting new sounds, not always what you'd expect. Sunset does it by definition. Try two pedals in parallel and you might be in for a surprise.
Yeh that's what I've done with the MultiSwitch, got a jfet and tubescreamer in parallel - love it
Excellent video!!! I'm using the same pedals on my Marshall origin 50 combo. Make my single channel amp sound like 4 different channels.
When you play like this you can stack the worst of joyo nux and behringer together and it still would sound great :)
I use an OD-3 into a DS-1. It sounds like a violin with infinite sustain.

Surerly, you tried to use pedals together. DS1 after the OD. And it's sounds rock ( literally). I find a great tone when the DS1 ( together with OD) is : tune on 9 and gain on 12.

I connected the old ME-5 with the DS-1 pedal, the ME-5 has an SD-1 pedal in it. I got the same tone as this one of yours !!
