  • Cabomba, or fanwort, is a native aquatic plant that grows along both north and south shores of Lady Bird Lake between Barton Creek and the Lamar Bridge.
Native aquatic plants such as Cabomba provide the lake and creek with some important boons:
    • Oxygen
    • Food
    • Hiding places and habitat for fish, turtles, waterfowl and other aquatic life
    • Trapping sediment to help keep the water clear.

Cabomba is in an invasive species in so many areas. I hope this lake is being highly monitored. With state and city government budget cuts I'm fearful for what the Cabomba population will do to other native species. Good luck!
